      Don't worry. It was a dead end, anyways. They're in a better place now. Besides, gotta keep their numbers down. They're the Thousand Sons not the Two Thousand Sons. That's just stupid.

      Not even the wolves fucked up. They just got a Message messed up by Horus that told them to burn down the planet of the Legion they hated. Russ even tried to convince Magnus to evacuate the planet and surrender to him, so no one gets killed. #FuckHorus

    • @ninocuric5290
      @ninocuric5290 6 лет назад

      Lolonatori jeah but Magnus tooth that he deserved punishment for what he did, and shouldn't it have bin strange to Russ that there is no fleet in orbit to defend Prospero, and also Malcador ha's ordered him one thing but he chooses to obey Horus so we can argue that he's disobeying orders from Malcador = Emperor, so yes Horus did order but Russ gladly took the excuse it afforded him to due what he wanted to do in the first place Malcador ( Emperor ) bee dammed.

    I find it interesting to ponder which of the 5 original cults transitioned into which of the 9 later cults.
    For example, perhaps...
    Athanean became the cults of Scheming and Duplicity.
    Corvidae became the cult of Prophecy, and split into Knowledge as well after the Rubric of Ahriman and his banishment/quest begins.
    Pavoni as masters of the body would naturally become the cult of Mutation.
    Pyrae and Raptora could both equally become the cults of Magic and Manipulation, as both have focuses that qualify.
    The cults of Change and Time are both outliers that likely attracted members from multiple original cults.

    Corvidae Cult had raven as its symbol and they fell out from favor in the later years, as you stated.
    From 1d4chan;
    *One of the few canonically confirmed, let alone interesting, things about their history is the possibility that they are descendants of a Thousand Sons schism cult. The short story "Rebirth" in Age of Darkness shows what might be the foundation of the Chapter, as hinted before in A Thousand Sons Horus Heresy book. That story shows that most of the Corvidae (as in the genus of birds to which the raven belongs) Fellowship of the Legion was sent away by Magnus during the Burning of Prospero. The leader of this Fellowship, Revuel Arvida, has a name very similar to Azariah Vidya, the legendary hero of the Blood Ravens, who utters "Knowledge is Power, Guard It Well"*

    Question: Since the primarchs are arguably the strongest solo combatants in the imperium based on their sheer power level, do other armies have someone equivalent to a primarch? Is there a unit or character amongst the Tau, Eldar, Orks etc. who could stand toe to toe with a primarch?

    • @CorvusCorone68
      @CorvusCorone68 6 лет назад

      with the Orks, there was one warboss, i think called the Beast, that took the Emperor himself to defeat; with the other races tho, there really isn't that power capability for an individual, except maybe Tyranids

      OneMindSyndicate : Actually, way back before 5 edition, late 90s. I was thinking of creating my own 11th legion known as: The Rough Riders; and their Primarch was a half-elf. Their Lore was he landed on a Eldar made in the world that had human colleges as well that lived in symbiotic coexistence with the elder. They also had a complete STC Library intact. The Primarch adopted guardian was the Farseerer herself. My Primarch enjoyed history and knowledge. And the danger in it as well.
      With the help of the elder, the whole intact library was secured. And the psychics that appeared during Time of Strife was guided by the Elder They help created an order of Librarians. That is why Space Marine Chapter Pychores are called Librarians. Because of the humans, they followed a form of Abrahamic religion that combine all the branches in in one. So the Primarch is devout, but open minded. So when the Emperor came he was able to stand his ground and protect his religion from the Imperial Truth, and allowed it to flourish, on his own planet.
      There is so much Lore, that I need to type it all up and summit it. To create my Fan Legion.

    Question : Where would be the best place to start reading books about warhammer ? I have recently bought nightbringer. Thanks guys you've got me hooked.

    • @briankrause2359
      @briankrause2359 6 лет назад +1

      Howdy... I've read probably 100 different warhammer books, mostly 40K but some older stuff (still called 'warhammer' but set in times of dwarves/elves etc. (this video is about 'warhammer 40K' and also 'horus heresy'
      The first 3 books of the horus heresy are all really good, I think they are 'Horus Rising', 'False Gods' and 'Galaxy in Flames'. Those are all good. Most of the other heresy books are 'hit and miss' (I'm actually re-reading them now after several years). Other notable ones are 'Legion' and 'Mechanicum'.
      You absolutely cannot go wrong with any book about the 1000 Sons, imho, they are all excellent. 'The Thousand Sons', and 'Prospero Burns'. Other notable books about the 1000 sons are 'Battle of the Fang', and the Ahriman Trilogy (get it as one book, rather than 3 different purchases as there are about 100 bonus pages of 8 short stories) and 'Magnus the Red' and 'The Crimson King', all of these are excellent.
      Some of the (old era) Warhammer stuff is pretty entertaining too. I thoroughly enjoy ANYTHING that features the Skaven, they are mutated Rat men creatures, who excel in backstabbing politicking. Basically anything to do with Skaven is exceedingly entertaining as the plots within plots within plots all fall apart due to the way skaven behave towards each other. Try 'Headtaker', , 'Gree Seer' and any of the 'Thanquol' books, as well as 'The End Times'. Gotrek & Felix : Skaven Slayer is a funny book which introduces the Thanquol character, I believe.
      Another 40K character is 'Ciphias Cain' series, and almost all books in this series are 'must read' too. Very entertaining, pretty consistent series.
      Unfortunately, a lot of the 40K stuff is 'hit & miss', I generally find anything to do with the Ultramarines, Blood Angles and Space Wolves either boring or un-interesting, but that is a personal preference, but I've long since stopped buying books about those chapters personally. Your mileage may vary of course, but for some reason I can't understand, the 'chaos' chapters are far more rounded out and compelling characters generally than the loyalists. I've always been more of a 'Empire' fan than (Star Wars) rebel fan, so perhaps I'm just more pre-disposed to 'bad guys' but basically, they spend more time explaining the motives of the 'bad guys' which make them more relateadale because you know more about them, while 'good guys' are simply 'we love the emperor', but are more cardboard. Again, my opinion...

      Hi brian, thank you very much for the reply. I really wasn't expecting one at all. I shall read the books that you reccommend. Thankyou once again for taking the time out of your day to reply with such a varied selection of books.

    • @briankrause2359
      @briankrause2359 6 лет назад

      No problem. I wish somebody would have warned me before I spent a lot of $ on some of these books. ;)
      Here are my favourite authors in the Warhammer/40K universe.
      Graham McNeil... Almost all of his books are really good. He's an easy recommendation 'Storm of Iron' is a must read if you can find it, but its around a dozen years old, but one of his best. (I would ignore all of his 'ultramarines' stuff though, but that is a personal preference)
      Dan Abnett. Most of his stuff is pretty good, the early 'Gaunts Ghosts' stuff was pretty solid, but became pretty repetative after around 8 books or so (imho). But his 'Ravenor' and 'Eisenhorn' stuff is great.
      Aron Debemski Bowen - (or something akin to that) is pretty good too, definitly has contributed to some of my fave stories.
      Sandy Mitchel - Does the Ciaphus Cain commisar stories I mentioned yesterday, good mix of comedy mixed in with huge bouts of violence.
      C.L. Werner - I think he mostly does 'old era' warhammer stuff, but he's done several 'Skaven' books and also some older books called 'Bruner - Bounty Hunter' and 'Matthius THulman - witchhunter' I believe that were really good too (for 'old era')
      Some individual books that I forgot to mention that are among my fave reads...
      Death of Integrity. If you've ever played the board game 'Space Hulk' this is a book version of sorts of that game, interesting read where you have heavily armored terminators (the 'cream' of space marines) fighting against incredibly fast/deadly aliens called 'Gene Stealers'.
      Macharius Trilogy (includes 'Angle of Fire' 'Fist of Demetrius' and 'Fall of Macharius') is a great series, well worth reading, get the entire trilogy in one book, each one of them is well worth reading.
      Wrath of Iron - this is a good 'space marines' novel.
      That'll keep you busy for a while... :) Enjoy...

      The first two Thousand Sons books from the Heresy series are great. The best place to start is on the Black Library website. Where to start depends on the aspect of the games you like best. The Blood Bowl books (a hybrid of American football, sports satire, fantasy monsters, extreme cheating and cartoon violence) are great fun. I like the Beast Arises series as an introduction to the Orks. Brunner the Bounty Hunter and Malus Darkblade have a Blackadder-esque sense of humour running through them.

      Besides Thousand Sons has imho the best lore of all, in this case, "traitor" legions.

  • @TheRad82
    @TheRad82 4 года назад

    The fact that they preemptively refer to the military organization as having cults and canals just shows how lazy 40k lore writing is. There is no character arc for any of the traitor legions. All of their turns to chaos were extremely contrived and more about just reaching a forgone conclusion than actually telling a tragic story.
