Man, I need more of this happening! These remind me of the old Marcelo Garcia rolling videos from over a decade ago. Always great to see famous people come through and roll with the head instructor.
This kind of pressure is exactly what CJ needs to show off his game. Bfs, drags, back takes, and as soon as Josh lets off the pressure he heists up and gets on top. Much more exciting than when guys refuse to engage and just dance around the outside, got some proper action ⚔️👌🏻
Man really good stuff. I like Craig's back take attempts off the failed overhook butterfly sweep attempts where Josh posts. And I like how from a similar position, Josh was able to get his ear to Craig's chest even with an overhook, dig to an under, and go for the single leg.
Really good content. So cool to see Josh's base hold up against all those attacks, and Craig knowing he can try whatever he wants because he can escape any bad position.
He's also 44. If a guy in his 40s can go for 10 mins with a young world champion level stud; that is truly economy in motion and use of good positioning.
I love how Josh avoided that bump sweep by locking hands causing Craig to abandon the position. Especially after Craig was successful a few times. Fool me twice...lol
Several days ago, I was watching The Warmaster on the JRE and suddenly thought, "I would love to see him grapple with Craig Jones." Little did I know that it actually happened! Great upload.
Alot of big guys tend to fall easily into the trap of relying on size, weight, muscle to crush their opponents. But units like Josh Barnett don't do that but display superb technical skill.
No doubt just look at Josh's fights for example Against dean lister he has a lot of knowledge of cacth that destroy the opponent little by little and knows how to use the weight he has very well.
@@alexcardoso4487 You can also tell that Josh let himself get triangled by Gordon Ryan and guillotined by Ricardo Almeida in competition because he didn't want to unintentionally maim them with his super deadly CACC moves. If this represents catch well its not very impressive imo. Josh looks like one of those guys in the gym who doesn't know much beyond basic techniques but holds his own with decent guys through athleticism and grit. There's something to admire about that but it doesn't say great things about catch as an art in comparison to BJJ
maybe these catch guys don't respect backmount much because they want to grab your foot so bad. I bet if you were like "crossing ankles is a myth" he'd make you go back to the old rules.
I've never watched grappling before but it looks like the big clumsy gentleman in the shoes keeps trying to apply Hail Mary submissions from bad positions. Is he a beginner?
Is Josh Barnett a fraud? He lays on people like a wet seal. Did anybody else notice he was all defense against a guy literally half his size. Go watch his Gordon Ryan match, he literally never had a chance. I didn’t expect him to beat Gordon but at least put up some legitimate attacks. Where are all his “secret nasty catch wrestling submissions”, he is literally all defense.

Man i couldn't stop smiling throughout the whole roll. Many thanks for such a great post!!! Wholesome stuff
Love it. Two grappling greats having fun and working their craft.
Man when J.B. hit that cradle at 2:30 I thought it was over but C.J. managed to slither his way out of there lol.
Big thanks for posting this. I'm a big fan of both your styles. Cool seeing you play off of each other.
Josh Barnett has some seriously great defense. The way he was able to stay out of danger with his tight elbow control was fascinating.
