    1. Start with the basics: pushups, pullups, and dips. For people with training experience, do the basics with the FULL range of motion. 2. Work on a really, really strong core. Don't train for a 6pk, train for a super strong core. 3. Work on flexibility and mobility. Great mobility is essential. See the video for specific exercises and reps.

So much truth in this. Basics, mobility&flexibility, injury prevention. For me, calisthenics was a lot harder than anything I did in the gym and it can be a bit intimidating in the beginning. But I used a lot of regressions (I still do to work on specific things) and just stuck with it. For me, the gym was too low in intensity and not challenging enough on the mind. I don't just want to look good but actually be my best.

I am starting with your five minute core routine. I do it everyday and I love it. I added glute bridge hold to it because it strengthens the glutes and hamstrings which are really weak lower body muscles. I also use resistance bands. I am not going to touch another dumbbell or barbell. Once I get strong at calisthenics and bands, I will use weights again. I am starting with core strengthening first because your core practically stabilizes your whole body. I was talking to a guy who did nothing but core for a whole month and he said that he went from zero to fifty pull-ups, literally. I don’t think he was using the best form, but at least he wasn’t doing the CrossFit pull-up.

I (15,F) have always been a very active person. My dad would always make me go hiking, running, swimming, cycling and I used to do this for like 6 years. I was a really fit child, I could easily do 15 push-ups and like 70 sit-ups, I could run long distances, sprint and bike steep hills. I joined a basketball team, improved quickly and was soon put in a team with older girls, improving, it was the peak of my athleticism.
And then covid happened. We were in isolation for a few months, I quit everything, took the same amount of calories I used to eat when I was active. And obviously, I gained weight. I'm not overweight, but I'm not really happy with my health and physical appearance and I would like to change that.
I discovered calisthenics a while back and I found it so amusing. Now I wanna start doing calisthenics 2-3 times a week, with cardio workouts in between. And imma do it, I'm motivated, I just gotta get started.
I don't know why I wrote this, but I guess I just wanted to sort my thoughts out.

So I think if you're not able to start with bodyweight exercises you can start with weigh training even with muscle isolation as a start

I also had the minds to start calisthenics as well. However we are doing calisthenics and weight training to get the body or strength we need. Then going back to your tip of knowing the basics, I must suggest for those of you who are overweight or not done any sports before to start running. Even walking progressing to run is important to starting calisthenics or weight training as well. Running has a foundations to build core strength, endurance, and stamina we need to exercise. Knowing how to run is the important and I learned that in transitioning my strength training to which I can perform basic movement training like a MMA fighter Connor Mcgregor. Keeping your posture straight, breathing in and out using your nose and mouth, also using a jump rope momentum. Its simple to build a cardio vascular strength to aid your strength training. Then performing the basics of planks, push ups, squats, and rows/pull ups.

Cardio is indeed an important aspect of calisthenics. Without cardio or a proper diet you wont be able to get the aesthetic fysique you are looking for.

Pull ups are a lot harder then push ups especially for women. I am not a woman so it's hard for me to say how you should improve but for me just doing shoulder, back and biceps exercises helped me increase the number and weight of my pull ups so I didn't even practice pull ups to get better at them.

Calisthenics is not for targeting specific muscles and thats where free weights are better for muscle growth and strength development of that muscle , it's better to use both to target your goal and not just one of them alone.

I love love love this video, thankyou so much. As a young women who has had a bad posture all my life I already did core strengthening exercises. So now I am doing the basics like you said, and the funny thing is, I don’t feel anything in my core yet, my core is fine because I already trained it. But my arms are just like chicken wings 😅 they are so weak, so that’s what I’m focussing on now. I wish I had a place outside where I could do the leg raises and dips. I love in the Netherlands and how absolutely no idea where I could find a place like that

I've been interested in getting into calisthenics for a couple of years now, but in the UK it's very rare to find out much about it. I found a PT back in December 2021 who teaches it here in London. I've only been doing it around 8 weeks and I'm now getting stronger. I got fed up with years in the gym and getting injured last year, which caused me to not want to lift weights any longer. It was pretty boring too to be honest. Anyway, I'm giving myself 8 months to a year just to master the basics. Thanks so much for your videos and I'll see you further down the road when I'm stronger and fitter, and doing a good muscle-up 🤗

I have been saving up my wages for 3 years to have a pull-up bar & dip bar installed within my local park for the community & public hope my local council will give me permission if not I will go door to door with a partition to have it installed the company who supply & install are called The Great Outdoor Company
