great use of simple items.....its good to see someone who is not obsessed or showing of lots of expensive gidgets n gadgets.....simple is best.......blessup......happy camping......
It could be a lot louder if you raise your can off of the ground. The ground is muffling the sound. One other tip. Cut the drinking end of the can off. You want that can to become a metal drum essentially. You will need to mount your can another way. Also have the cut off end of your can facing towards your camp. It’s kind of like cupping your hands around your mouth to holler/yell. Very cool content. Thank you for sharing it.
KISS methodology. I like that you showed taking the time to set it properly and the adjustments you made to get it right. So many video makers only show the success, not how long it actually takes to do it correctly. Thank you and keep it up!
Initially, I was wondering what the heck you were faffing about with. However, after seeing it in action it's pretty ingenious. Well done indeed. Very creative my man
Nice. Currently doing some backyard camping and will definitely give these a try! Simple but effective. Like you mentioned, the noise isn't tremendous, but in the dead of night when everything is quiet, that is all the noise you need to be alerted to an intruder, whether man or beast! One of the keys is to set it up far enough to be able topractically react, yet near enough to actually hear it.
I like em! They are simple, cheap, mostly made from stuff in the woods, and can be tweaked as needed. That second one would make some hellacious noise with some cans! Or even some spare tent stakes if you have any with you. Or an empty water bottle or nalgene bottle. A stick smacking one of those would be pretty loud. You could also try to pick some good dry sticks and remove the bark to help maximize that hollow clacking sound that dry wood makes when hit together. There's just so many different things you could do with that second one if you needed to.
I like your alarms, I’m like you paint some drink cans, and a flat black to hang on your second one create more noise. Also, enjoy hearing from a light Christian that does videos and specially survival situation out in the woods and enjoyed your video.
Good work! With the second alarm, you were right...cans or even bamboo, but you're hardly likely to stumble across a bamboo copse, whereas folk will throw soft drink and beer cans anywhere without giving it a second thought. Lol. Personally, I use a homemade banger (what you guys Stateside call a firecracker) trip alarm. The wire pulls the matches embedded into it across two match striking surfaces, which ignites a very fast fuse to set the banger off. It would be illegal, here, to booby trap, but, on your side of the pond, I imagine, if shtf, that you'd use shotgun shells, so it would have the same result as a spring mine. Not that I'm suggesting for even a moment that anyone should break any laws, you understand.
Just a thought. Take a direct housingfrom a 700 R 4 with shaft still I'm it. Hold shaft and hit the housing with a metal object. Cover ears first though. ( the sky's the limit ). 4L 60 / 70 has same housing for clutch's and steels. Just disassemble them. Transmission shops shouldhavea ton of these. These are Transmissions out of GM PRODUCTS
Neat alarm. Jody one of my go to alarms is the dried foliage on the ground. I will not collect fire wood around my camp site and even throw extra dry limbs down to have a area around me that if you walk over it you are sure to make noise.
Hey man, thanks for the video. It's been a long time since I've seen a RUclips video made by someone who felt genuine, someone who doesn't act any different on or off the camera.
Brilliant, in the middle of the night you will have no problem hearing either one of those alarms.Last week I had a bear come in to camp I wish I would’ve had an alarm system set up. Good job.A couple of weeks ago I gave your channel a shout out In my “10 quarantine questions video”. Lately I have been growing like crazy I wish the same for you
Hi, precious! Your video was very informational and gave me some great ideas. Thank you so much for such wonderful information. And thank you for always crediting our precious God in your videos. May the Almighty God, Jehovah, the Creator of the heavens and earth - the father of our Lord Jesus, continue to bless you and your loved ones - always.
@@CODOutdoors I'm in the upper panhandle of Idaho and spend most of my time alone while ruttin around in the mountains here along with the Grizzlies, a good camp perimeter alarm could literally save your life, great for easy peace of mind to focus on other things.
We can all say that we do this for bears, varmints, and people, and such, but we all know why we really do it... the big man... with the big feets! Possibly also for dogs that walk upright! I'm just saying is all.
A quick parameter alarm i was considering on doing sometime is more for defense against bears and such. I was thinking sharpening a few spears and sticking them into the ground pointing away from the opening of a tent in case a bear tries to come into the front of a tent if it does the spears should stop it if they are dug into the ground deep enough to hold a bears weight. It would be even better if you place them all around the tent just in case. As bonus points your camp will look medieval and keep most intruders at bay

Best perimetre alarm is a dog. While asleep you wont hear any of that things. A dog barking will wake you up and 99% will scare away all animal visitors

Agree, also hate those channels with a bunch of subs and buy top of the line gear instead of gear that the average person would want to spend
100% it's shows inventiveness and how to make use of what you have or can find.
Thanks, love using tings that are readily available and not cost a fortune. Great video and great ideas

Party poppers work great for a setup like this.
On the "wind chime alarm" I wonder how hollowed river cane would work. Great video
One guy did say he made his that way. Thanks bro
Good video and nice delivery, thanks for sharing. Eric, NH

Grizzlies 😬, we just have black bears and a lot of coyotes. I also enjoy the quiet times alone in God's beautiful creation!
@@CODOutdoors I agree the beauty of creation and being in it is the best part.
Awesome
Thanks
THANKS
Nice
Great video. I think using cans with pebbles would make a bit more noise. I still think you did a good job!
Thank you sir!
Yeah I think the cans work better than the sticks. But gotta use what you have on hand!
Great, informative video! I said next y'all need to make a mosquito repellent video if there's anything left of ya. Hahah! ~Mortal Recoil
I know right!
I use cow bells. lol
Maybe use old propane bottle on last one cut top
👍
i did a couple videos on using old grenade tops with 209 primers. Warning is a key things these days
Thanks man. I’m going camping in the woods and these ideas will help with bears.
Thank's for watching! Hope you have a safe trip!
👏👏👏
Best use a portable electric bear fence for camping.
Not a bad idea!
