    Having watched this film twice already makes me want them to bring Fede Alvarez in to direct a long awaited Prequel to Event Horizon. I want that back story. That was one of the 90s best horror films and deserves a proper reboot to explore that lore

      My gosh I would love to see an Event Horizon film. The Hellraiser movie that never was a Hellraiser movie. Hahaha
      I really trust Fede to take care of practically any horror franchise Now. He totally gets it. ❤

    i really liked this one. im going to need to watch it again. my only gripe is how fast the alien grew. but i guess they kinda explained why, but it still seemed really far fetch, but its syfy, i guess ill accept it. great review!

      I agree! It normally took several days to incubate too. But in the effort of time and I’m going you assume Rook’s intervention, I accepted it.
      So glad you liked it.

    Love this new film personally and Fede went back to the suspense roots with excellent story and believable characters in the film. To me, the best sequel after Aliens and best prequel without question.

    What I like about this movie is twofolds: brought back the retro futuristic vibe and showed some semblance of civilisation and its inhabitants at the beginning of movie. On the latter, I don't think that was done before in any alien movie, at least from what I can recall.

    I liked this one a lot. Just wish I could’ve seen everything that was happening in it… lol we watched it, alongside Deadpool and Wolverine at the old drive in in Wichita and it was hard to tell what was going on.

    Saw the 1st one back in 1979. Loved it. A takeoff of the movie, IT the Terror Beyond Space , from the 50's. If you like sci-fi horror check out the 1982 version of The Thing.

    Rainn REALLY cared for Andi & I admired their bond! I didn't even know he was android til watching the movie. Loved it completely!!
    Oh my god hahahaha I thought the same thing, with that Vagina on the wall! Plus when it was dripping ooze I was like, jesus lol!😳🤣🤣
    Might be my favorite movie this year, so far. And yes, I absolutely got that popcorn bucket👽🍿

      I loved the bond between the two as well. Such sweetness. And thank goodness I wasn’t the only one. Hahaha
      I am so jealous you got the popcorn bucket! I went the day after they started selling them and they were already sold out everywhere around me. 😭 they were all so cool. My fave is the containment facehugger, but the xeno is just as cool.

      @GothicCottage yeah they were terrific rainn & andi. I hated the bullying too! Not just cause he was an android, but I hate bullying anyone in general. So sorry popcorn buckets were sold out where you went. They didn't start selling them til yesterday, & I went earlier so I was able to get one. Hopefully they'll get more! The Beetlejuice one coming soon looks insanely awesome!😱🍿

      Me too. I’m a big gore hound, but a softy for the weak.
      Regal started selling them early and didn’t put limits on how many people could purchase. So that’s where all the resellers have gotten theirs. 😕

    Well I'm late to the party, as usual! Lol. I just saw the the movie and found it highly entertaining. It really was a homage to first two movies, with it's own twist at the end. Kinda wish there were a few more characters so we could have had some more blood shed! Only real downside was some of the CG and that " one liner" from Andy, why why did you say that! Besides that he was great, makes you wonder" do Androids dream of electric sheep!" Cheers! 👻

    You make it sound so interesting but I’m probably gonna pass on this one. I’m not a fan of the Alien franchise. My husband is, so maybe I’ll end up seeing it. Vahjayjay on the wall?? What the? Hahahahah!

      Hahaha girl, I wasn’t being dramatic when I mentioned looking around the theater wondering why I was the only one. Hahaha Maybe I’m too much of a Giger fan and know that the Xeno’s are definitely phallic?!? Hahaha
      If you do go, I hope you like it, but it definitely fits with the first two.

    I have a question for you. Is Romulus not in the Star Trek universe?

    • @GothicCottage
      @GothicCottage  26 дней назад +1

      Hahaha yes, there is a planet Romulus where the Romulans come from, but Star Trek didn’t create that. The original Romulus and Remus twin story(which is technically where the idea for this comes from) is from Roman mythology about the creation of Rome.

    • @Billy-lm8mo

    This film is all style over substance. Nothing more. And as time goes on the gaping plot holes will come forwards. Like:
    The nostromo was vaporized because of the mineral ore (blast waves) so there wouldn't be wreckage.
    The Big Chap doesn't make face huggers from its acid dna. Even if it was a overmorph it couldnt make 50 face huggers without a queen.
    Black goo would need to have a viable reason to be in the face huggers.
    The woman who injected herself with black goo wasnt in the room (she was in the hive) when rook told the others what it was. So her giving it to herself is stupid.
    What is happening here is Ridley scott has been trying to cut the queen out of the life cycle for 3 films now with his black goo. And it has never made sense. Ever. And no matter how hard they try the black goo cannot replace the Queen.
    I'm suprised by how Alien fans aren't raging at this all style over substance film.

    • @GothicCottage
      @GothicCottage  23 дня назад

      I can’t deny most of your points. I’m totally with you about the Queen and the black goo. I just chalked it up to Rook synthesizing and changing it like he mentioned. And you’re right, she didn’t hear the explanation, but she did see her brother almost give it to her and Rain stop him. So maybe she figured, why not?
      The big plot hole for me was when she took it and it didn’t effect her, just the baby. Odd considering the mouse.
      But it’s true, I still Loved it. I think as a horror fan, we’re just so excited to get a movie with such fan service.

    You’re too emotional about an android that is non-feeling and nonhuman. It’s like you’re getting emotional over a toaster. It’s just parts and function. Plus it’s just a MOVIE. It’s also wrong when humans value animals over other humans. Sometimes humans need to step back and reevaluate their priorities.

    Straight out of the gate, it was really easy for the cast to take a ship and fly into outer space undetected. You can just do that? Fede captured the Alien universe so well and the practical effects were amazing. The actors, except for Andy the android, were forgettable. Really bad. Recycling old dialogue and imagery from the best Alien movies was really distracting and just cheap. The last 20 minutes was unexpected and had my attention. I was kind of bored throughout most of the film. Three out of five for me. Glad I watched it in the theatre. Would watch it again, I love this franchise. Prometheus is a good movie.

    • @GothicCottage
      @GothicCottage  26 дней назад +1

      I think they were able to take the ship because no one could get anywhere worthwhile without the cyrochambers. I assumed they owned the ship or had work access to it?!
      I do agree it bordered on too nostalgic as I mentioned at the very end. And the last 20 minutes was the best part IMHO. But that was definitely Fede’s doing.
      I’m so thrilled to see someone who liked Prometheus!! I am always the loner there!
