I love the way how after the bite, all the lights come on, as if it’s prank Show for animals or something. Some presenter appears and starts saying to the shocked and embarrassed Viper: “There’s a camera over there, and over there; you have been pranked!” 😂😂

My first thought...: „they didn’t seriously...?“ 😂
But in all seriousness, their staging of these kinds of videos is absolutely marvelous...I mean, here you could see it was an artificial foot, but most of the time it’s like they just captured the scene by accident. When really it’s all set up and carefully orchestrated.
Rara Avis I thought the same thing till till I seen the guy holding a fake foot

I was living in Egypt at the time and two friends and I decided to go hiking in the desert mountains. On the way down at dusk we were crossing the edge of a farm to the main road and as I was walking I stepped on a weird mound, when I looked down I saw a saw-scaled viper unravelling from underneath the sand. I quickly dived backwards and we ran for 2 miles to my dads car. Very lucky escape.
the snake was trying to move away grom you. theY dont bite unless you repeatedly harass them
Yikes, close call
That is why you should always carry a gun that shoots pellets and grenades while hiking through such terrain.
@@lil_weasel219 yeah i stepped on the snake by accident in the sand, it lept out at me and as i ran and looked back at my friend it also lept out at him and was inches away
@@hossel1079 that's not a leap for strike, but a leap to threaten you that you are at his mercy & he can think otherwise too. You're not his food, it doesn't want to expend his precious venom on you unless its do or die, then he might've injected all of it at once leaving a human dead within an hour or two. If the viper strikes a human or any non edible prey with all its venom, the viper himself can even die because he doesn't have enough venom to kill its prey for a long time to come, a human attack has consequences for him to face.
Now this is my wild guess, the viper himself knows that he camouflages and you must have stepped by mistake, that's why he didn't decide to kill you. Next time on terrains watch what you're stepping on... easier said than done. So avoid hiking at nights or super early in the morning. Don't stop hiking because of snakes. Just be careful.

Who would've thought that the foot wasn't real? Snake bite is indeed perilous.
The leg looked so freakin real it had me anxiety levels shoot up
why it got to be a black foot doe😂😂
You watched this and didn't understand anything about it. Indians are all types of brown. A lot easily look black until you see their face and hair. Same thing does happen in 3rd world countries regardless. And it likely fooled you into thinking it was real before they revealed it was a decoy.
umm my bad 😂
Osagie Emmanuel, I believe a snake does not care
Dual BandZ Because the BBC are so politically correct they want diversity even in mannequins
Lady Viper actually Indian people are black people as being "black" refers to a race, now Indian is actually a nationality and could be used to describe anybody that is a citizen/born there, and what tends to divide people is ethnicities or groups that people associate themselves with
In actuality theres really only two *race's* black and white, now your instinct might say people of hispanic origin or chinese arent black or white but that wouldnt be true a hispanic person could be from mexico or a country in south american but they are called that because it refers to their ethnicity but in reality any hispanic person comes from Europe (mainly Spain) because thats where the kings and queens resided before they wanted to explore the far west, and same thing with chinese or any other asian, but their situation is a little different becasue they are black people, but they have different facial feautures than most because of genetic mutations, im sure u could find many black people that have slanted eyes or slightly smaller noses, thats because there were tribes of black people in africa (with melanated skin) that today would be called asian because of their face, you can do your own independent research on all of this im not gonna go too far on this because i know true identity is a very sensitive and triggerable topic for people
No being on earth wants to fight until we have to, fight or flight is instinctual. When the snake feels threatened enough or hurt he is going to bite you boi

Lol same thought
Nah snakes see things in thermal vision notice how some bites were so off. The snake probably stop doing that because it was scared cause it couldn’t see it’s target
Let’s all appreciate the videography before they turned on the lights.
I lost my mother just 1 month ago for this dangerous snake and it has changed our lives..
Well, since you guys tested it so many times, the snake will stop biting because it’s not working, and will just run. I like the test, but it’s much more effective to test this naturally with multiple different snakes. Still I enjoyed it :D
Life's Wild Adventures true
haha yeah. That's probably true. The snake gave up! Depends how they tested the experiment. The guy was talking more like a beach surfer than a researcher.
Dennis Horne yeah, I’ve caught snakes and just let them bite me and I just say yuh done yet? Ok good now we friends XD I guess they just realize this is not working

Scary 🐍 look size of the fangs
Those are the sheaths. The gang itself isn't too big. Gaboon vipers have the longest at 2 inches.
God damn that's a real looking foot.
Such an amazing video teaching us that snakes are just as scared as us but I feel for those people who have to risk getting bit just to use the restroom
They stand so close to this fatal serpent and do not appear to be remotely concerned.. they must know what they are doing.

Dear Dr. Rom,
Since you've somewhat seen that these snakes prefer to escape rather than bite,
can you do a study to see if the chances of a bite are significantly reduced should people shuffle their feet along, instead of stepping on these vipers or elapids, etc?
I almost never stomp around in the beach but instead shuffle my feet, because of stonefish and scorpionfish.
if just simply shuffling our feet would save lives, i think we really should spread the word.
who knows, maybe if it was a shuffler, instead of a stepper, maybe if it was even a bite, could it be significantly more DRY bites rather than actual HOT bites?
furthermore, the amount of vibrations and noise produced by a shuffler, instead of a stepper, could much more easily wake up a sleeping viper/ elapid and make it more alert, perhaps allowing it to escape faster, OR at least produce more dry bites rather than hot ones?
or if wearing footwear reduces bite incidences!
Snakes lawyer be like:
You are going to be very rich by suing this guy!
1:14 you sure sure about big boy
Pretty cool setup and experiment. Thought it was real, looked real. Awesome footage. Great video
Something else the slow motion capture shows is that, while the snake strikes very fast, it's not necessarily deadly accurate with many of those bites like how one may think. Most of those reaction bites were almost embarrassingly bumbling and the snake barely even manages to land a bite in that short amount of time.
Are you blind?
It also only bit once (of course, that’s all it takes), whereas some just keep chowing down on you.
i’m calling BS!!! that had to be a real foot 😂😂 hope he was paid well 😉
Ohhh...please, more of these behind the scenes videos - they’re so interesting!
Truth be told. Many South Indians still don't wear foot wear and prefer walking barefoot.
Lesson: If you step on a Russell's viper, move you foot back really fast. He just wants to get away.

This video makes me cringe because I was bitten bye a copperhead last year, walking to my truck at night with no light wearing flip flops. Got me right on top of the foot, foot and lower leg swelled up, could barely walk for almost two weeks, hurt really bad for a month
Brandon O'Neal, where did it happen?
Borka Siamese Seguin, Texas
john-moses elliott ah. Really never thought of that, 😝
Yeah man I live down in Corpus Christi the worst we get are rattle snakes use to see and hear them all the time growing up
Brandon O'Neal Though from the same family, this snake is far more dangerous than your copperhead. While the copperhead basicaly avoids human interaction and having LD at 100mg, this Russell's viper is extremely aggressive, has very long fangs and LD at 40mg. An adult can deliver 140mg of venom deep into bloodstream per single bite, almost 3 times more than the lethal dose.
Ughhhh thank god I thought I'm the only dumb one who thought the foot was real😂😂
But I wonder.. Since snakes detect by heat, if the snake in this video was responding the way it did because it cannot detect heat from a fake foot? Therefore, it may not have been able to detect the foot, or detect it as well as it may have under more realistic conditions.
You are right. This is why it aimed that bad. Although it still got it, but normally they are much faster and aim perfectly. I catched an european adder few years ago and it was freaking fast, I think it was the fastest reflex I ever put out (I was aware that it will strike at me) still it almost got me. It even touched my finger. Still managed to catch it to show it to my brother, but I was way more careful after that.
After this incident, I am pretty sure, if it really would have been 100% determined to strike at me, it would have got me. Problem was it was a juvenile (1 ft long) and they give everything they got in case of a bit and they are really fast really pissed. It took me almost 10 minutes of "fight" to catch it without getting bitten (I was amateur so...😅). And this was an adder, they are one of the slower vipers and nothing compared to this one...
That bite to the bottom of the foot took my life

I spend summers in a small rice farming village in central Thailand where everybody wears flip-flops or goes barefoot. The place is perfect habit for snakes of all types. It's rice paddies sprinkled in and around large tracks of raw jungle. The universal fear for villagers is snake bite and the ramifications contected with it. Yet, late at night walking back through the village on these foot paths, no one uses flashlights. Blind walking. I started bringing a flashlight and it's amazing to see how everyone lines up behind me as I walk cautiously moving through snake habitat. These wonderful people are not fools, lol. Let the Yankee take the hit for the team. At night I see many snakes as a matter of fact.

How Did they make it look so real!? The foot!? Damn that’s amazing
I'd imagine they used alginate to make a mold of a real human foot to get the texture of the skin and everything, filled it with a material like silicone or rubber, then used an airbrush painting system to make the skin color look realistic.
