I go to Wells regularly and you were very lucky to get a space big enough for a van on the green at Buttlands, it’s mostly used by the houses on the green and difficult to find a space.
First went to Wells when I was a kid in the 1960's. The camp site was where the big car-park now is. Once dad had got the tent up it was late and mum didn't want to cook, so back to town for the Fish N Chips.... They were so good, we kids insisted we have the same every night for the week we spent there!!
I was born but not bred in Norfolk - Sluice road Wiggenhall st Germans just up the road from Kings Lynn. I'm kicking on a bit now, 75 at the last count but have lived in S.Wales for 74 and have never missed a year to return 'home' to Norfolk until this blasted virus came and spoiled it all. So it was great to have my 'shot' of one of my old haunts that is Wells via your video x.

Also come up visit Cromer I'd always be happy to show you both around the boathouse and take ya onboard a tour of the All Weather Boat we have here. Obviously once Covid rules relax. Also I have a Harley Davidson and woukd be happy to give ya both a little ride along the coast on it..
I'm absolutely loving your trips to the Seaside. They bring back so many happy memories for me and my family. We couldn't afford to holiday abroad all through my childhood but like you two we had so much fun holidaying in this country. You've got to get back out to by the sea again sometime this Summer. Funny you should mention Wells in Somerset as that is only 11 miles by road to Cheddar Gorge where you're planning to go next. Weston Super Mate is not much further. The Pier and amusements there are great. Graham
Ah love to hear this Graham! I think a lot of the subscribers feel the same so it's good that we can all enjoy the nostalgia together! Yes, need to get down to Wells in Somerset now that we've mentioned it and Weston Super Mare is another childhood memory box waiting to be opened!

John this comment has made my morning! Thanks so much mate. Haha can’t beat a bit of ‘normal’ relatable humour. Enjoy going back through the vlogs and hope the building work turns out alright. Really appreciate the support!
We are lucky living in North Norfolk and the Wells next the Sea beach is amazing but lot of lovely beaches nearby but not as sandy. If youre up there again look up Cley and at Salthouse Beach road no problem overnight staying with van.
Broccoli and wine? 2 of your 5 a day right there!! You guys had such lovely weather for your visit. I was there on a miserable day and at 6.10 you can see a little alleyway going under a flat and I cowered under there from the rain eating fish and chips because restaurants weren't open at that point. Memories!! 🤣
Ah what fun you had, I lovely seaside town Now Wells in Somerset I know very well My sister in law has a house there near the cathedral and my children and my husband and I spent many years staying there when they were younger. Lovely memories. Cheddar gorge is also nice Look forward to watching your visit there Have a great week Love Kim x.
Cheers Kim! Definitely surprised us just how beautiful the beach was with it not being so far from us! Wells in Somerset sounds like another spot we must add to the list now haha. x
Hint: try Aldi Shiraz in a red box. We used to be 'wine buffs', very particular about what we bought. We'd even travel to Germany for wines not available in the UK and to a vineyard on the Moselle who was so exclusive you needed an introduction before you could buy his wine. Now we rarely drink anything other than Lidl cheap red, and this boxed Shiraz which is a lovely full bodied wine, as good as anything. And it saves us a ton of money. Sleep well.
@@CharliePauly Hi, If you do try the boxed red, let me know what you think. We are both in our seventies and maybe have faded palates. For fizz, try Tesco Cava. It's as good as the expensive champagnes guests bought and left unopened my kid brought home when he worked at a casino.
I was just getting mi phone out to look at the map at Wells when you said it wells by the sea .it done my head in I thought when did they move a beech to wells .if you head down Bournmouth way there’s plenty of places to stealth camp nice one Charlie Lauren 🙂🏴✌️
Haha confused a few people by not mentioning that sooner I think! Yes, definitely want to get back down to Bournemouth and explore the other 'Wells' in Somerset this summer!
You can usually park up just down the road from the police station, near the old railway station if you are there early in the day - all day and free !!! Otherwise, just tell them you are gypsies and the rules don't apply. You can park anywhere. There is a camping/caravan shop down the road from the old railway station and the sell water pumps. If you walk along the beach to the west from Wells, about a mile or so, you will find the naturist beach.
Good advice as it is actually illegal to stay overnight where they parked (The Buttlands). The bylaws are clearly displayed on each corner. They were lucky they weren’t moved on or clamped.
Ha....what are the chances, you've got me, kids and wife filmed outside the chip shop on ur way down to the beach!!! Absolutely love wells-next-the-sea !
Just be aware that is actually illegal to stay in the van overnight where they stayed, They were lucky. The bylaws are clearly displayed on each corner of the green ( called The Buttlands). There are regular checks and people get their vans clamped. BTW The house they parked outside is called Clarence House.
