  • Former triathlete Rip Esselstyn went to work at the Engine 2 fire station - and found a coworker with very high cholesterol. This led to a bet: if Rip's colleague would just eat what Rip told him to eat, he could cut his cholesterol in half in just 28 days. The challenge was accepted, and this is how the lowfat plant-strong Engine 2 Diet was born! This is Rip's full talk from our 2009 Healthy Lifestyle Expo. All 13 talks from this Expo (and many more) are available for immediate download or on DVD at: store.vegsource.com/collectio...

This made me go plant-based overnight about two years ago. I can’t find the words to describe my gratitude for helping me take probably the best decision I’ve made ❤️

I just went plant based three weeks ago and have lost a lot of fat and feel better than I ever have. I'm Scottish and live in Scotland. I feel like my highlander ancestors of old thriving on their starch based diets of the past. Thanks Rip!

I saw ‘Rip Esselstyn’ in the title and for a fleeting moment, I thought Dr Esselstyn had died! 😧 It was a moment of foolishness. Dr Esselstyn is immortal.

Hi all. Congrats to everyone who is now making changes to their diet lifestyle. I fell upon "Forks over Knives" documentary right at the moment I got a medical report that indicated everything was elevated. My fear of heart disease, high cholesterol and diabetes was so great, I went plant based right there and then. It's been about 7 weeks and I feel much better. Have lost about 13 pounds. Still learning the ropes, but have cut out all the offending food items. They say in the books that you need support on this journey. My family and friends support me, but I'm the only one doing this right now. Videos like this and comments from the plant based community are golden. Thank you to all who contribute their experience and their knowledge. You really are helping those of us playing catch-up. Thank you. Cheers

Thank you for another wonderful, informative video. This stuff never gets old to me, and I've been WFPB for over 4 years. My dad is still alive thanks to finding this information 4 years ago, and my poor health at the young age of 40 turned completely around. And as an ER nurse, I can vouch that most of the patients I've seen in my 21 year career suffer from chronic American diseases. This information is not only life-saving, it can help people actually LIVE and have a quality of life, not slowly spiral downward with chronic disease.

Rip can promote 80 or 90% compliance whereas his father, dr. Esselstyn had to promote 100% because he was dealing with dangerously ill people. His father had to promote healing which requires 100% compliance. Rip is promoting prevention! I love this. My daughter and I have had some serious conversations about her seven-month-old being raised plant-based no oil. My granddaughter does not eat baby food, she eats only plant-based that her mother has cooked with no oil or salt. She has the clearest eyes oh, I think that is one thing that people who eat super clean have in common is very clear and bright eyes. When I started, I was very ill and after a couple of months I saw my doctor and she commented from all the way across the room about how bright my eyes were.

I laughed about the part where he was talking about how everyone becomes a scientist when they see you eating plant based. That completely happened to me and everyone else I know who started eating that way. The day before I went vegan I went to an all-you-can-eat pizza buffet, ate more than a pie and NOBODY WAS CONCERNED - they CHEERED ME ON. As soon as I started being plant based they came up to me and said “I’m CONCERNED you’re not getting enough protein.”

I'm glad I found this video! I've been trying to do the WFPB way of eating for the last month. I'm finding it a bit hard getting all the greens in, especially for someone who doesn't like salads. I have bought the Engine 2 7 day challenge and other cookbooks too. I'm the only one in the house doing this. This video gave me a boot in the pants to stay strong. :)
