This cover was recorded between 30 August 2010 and 1 September 2010 as part of The Fuego Series, released early 2011. NO drum replacement or triggering was done in this series, what you hear is just a mixed version of a 100% acoustically produced track.

Maybe I should be honest and just say that I think Lights is one of the cutest human beings alive. I can't imagine how so much cuteness can be fit into one body. Fanboy session over.. EPIC song! First time I heard this I already had the groove in mind that I knew I wanted to play in the verses, aswell as the side-snare groove for the choruses.
I sent the song off to Justin Pearson just to hear if he'd be interested in recording some demo guitar tracks for me, just to get an idea of what he could come up with.. and he wrote that SICKKK riff for the last chorus. We worked on the track a bit more, and the rest of the riffs and tracks were born. SUCH a talented guitar player!

You know i don't think anyone deserves to tell Cobus what not to play anymore. His enjoyment of playing the songs and his skill sets are clearly shown, so I don't care what song is being played. Cobus you are the best!

I actually met the guy yesterday at his first clinic at the LA music academy. I got to chat with him for a half hour. He said he was frustrated because people kept saying that people want sick fills and "the old Cobus" back, when he said all he was trying to do was mature as a musician and to compliment the music more. Food for thought.

for everybody out there, TIMES CHANGE and so does Cobus. People who are saying that cobus is not as good or something like that should appreciate the simplicity. He is way more technical than in his nexus series, of course it would be cool if he had some paramore or something like that, but sheesh, lets appreciate the effort!

Cobus bro, ignore these comments about how they miss you recording in a church with crafty lighting. Those days were great but they were just the beginning of your story. You deserve to record in a fancy studio.

Drums are more than loud solos and impressively fast playing. Him being able to play in a way that compliments the music so well is very impressive and shows a lot of control

to those who think cobus is a little lacking with this series, here's one thing for you... if you know drumming and the joy of music, you would notice that he actually improved a whole lot. drumming is not about being over the top like he was before, it's about finding the right timing and that "pocket" for you fill with the cool stuff. his videos are still filled with techniques that he tweaked as his own and awesome style.

It is amazing how serious many of you take these drum covers. Complaining about everything from lighting, facial expressions, fills (or the lack there of), the mix. camera angles, it never ends. I like watching cobus, but my entertainment is reading the comments on his videos, it's hilarious
If you miss the church, table on top of table stuff, and all the old things Cobus did. Go watch those videos, they're still there. If you don't like the new stuff, don't watch the new videos. It's simple, I for one greatly enjoy the the new series thus far.

anyone who is bashing cobus for this video clearly doesnt know what drumming is about. just because its not double bass pedal mega fast fills every 30 seconds doesnt make it shit, if anything it makes it better. this is just chilled out, groove drumming, still with awsome fills. what cobus has done with this video and all his others is do something different and creative with the song but still keeping its original feel. hats off to cobus, love his work, he always makes me want to go drum.
I think my favorite thing is just how complex your work in the verses is, but it sounds so subtle.
I love so much that you don't have a defining style. There's nothing repeated or formulated when it comes to your drumming. And for that, I hold more respect for you as an artist than almost anybody else out there.

I used to be a massive fan of Cobus, Watched every cover and they all "Wowed" Me. He's the reason I became the drummer I am today. But I'm sorry to say I haven't been nearly as amazed by any recent covers. Now I'm not saying it's the drumming that's the let down. The skill level is still increasing with every cover, and for that, I am grateful. The song choice however, has gone ridiculously Mainstream. But by all means, do your own thing Cobus, You're fans will follow you no matter what.

its 2016 and i still listen to it since it was released , and i believe in your potentials because you have achieved a dream that came true
the videos in the old series where amazing and part of the reason I think your so awesome is because of the way you started: table on top of tables etc, however the most inspiring part of your story is where you are now and where you"re heading, yes it is always sad to move on and to change but his studio videos have a diffrent and awesome feel to them and you gotta think of cobus he must be so fliippen happy with all his progress!

I agree with many people commenting on the sound quality of the new videos vs. the older series. @1:33 cobus clearly doesn't hit the toms, but you can hear them from the track louder than what he is playing. And those of you who say you have a 5.1 or 7.1 surround and can hear it perfectly are lying because i've listened to it on stereo, headphones, 2.1, and 5.1 and its sub-par. Sorry Cobus, so far this series hasn't lived up to the expectations :-/

Personally, I like this video. Sure, it doesn't have any crazy awesome/ difficult drum fills, but this style of drumming fit the song perfectly and the style he plays with is just, well, flawless really. Doesn't matter how easy or hard a song is, if you can play it and look THAT good doing it, then it will be amazing.

guys you need to keep an open mind. it's not a new cobus you're seeing. he's not changing all of a sudden. He's been diverse in his song choices since day one and to be honest i think it's a pretty cool song and a sweet cover.
He uses every inches of the drum kit..That is brilliant...And he made my day!! :)
dude seriously im tired of all this crap comments about this new series like, "you can do better" or "i miss the old cobus videos" or "i want you to cover this and that" you guys should be appreciative that cobus takes the time to film, record, mix and upload these awesome videos for our viewing pleasure instead bashing him because he doesn't cover what YOU want him to cover.
Stop Disrespecting Cobus cause when It comes down to it he can school most of y'all in drumming and again pros don't play 200bpm with fills every 10 secs. He no longer plays as a solo artist but like combined with a band and that's how you play musically you have to have a balance in music with every instrument or else you will feel there's to much in it for the song. Some True Cobus Fans just keep supporting him in what he does and he knows what he's doing!
You can't please everybody all at once, Cobus. Keep covering whatever you want, after all, a real artist can play anything, and this is a perfect example. You're an amazing drummer, and what makes you the best is that you play any genre you feel like playing, and you do a great job at it. So keep it up! much love

Most intermediate drummers can do what Cobus does. Its not tuff. But Cobus is so popular and sticks out from the pack because of his emotion, passion, and outrageous style. Thats why hes touring NorthAmerica right now. Thats what he wanted and were all very proud of our fellow man. But just because youre famous now Cobus doesnt mean you should stop doing what got you there in the first place. You used to laugh, smile, sing, and add in little "dings" to cap off a fill. Where'd all the love go?
For all the haters out there: The 30 Seconds To Mars video. Watch it. This series is showing the fact that Cobus can play a variety of styles, and music. It's not all about him just ripping up the drum set on every song. To even be considered a great drummer, you have to be well rounded. Cobus is one of the best as proving that.

I kind of like that the volume of his recording is a bit lower because it's a pop song and you don't want the drums to overpower everything else; the drums are there, it's subtle but it's there complimenting the other instruments. And I like that he chooses pop songs too, it shows that he can do more than just rock.
Cobus, you rock man. You should totally add a mini keg to your kit. Its like a sustained zil-bell, so sweet
the more i watch your covers for this series the more i am impressed. some people think this series doesnt have as amazing fills and shit, but in truth youve excelled far beyond your previous series. not only do you remix the songs by adding your own taste you also enhance and compliment the song in your own way. you ensure your drumming doesnt overpower the song in a new way with this series and frankly i think so far this series albeit different is in its own class.

Great to see Cobus branching out to other genres. I mean always doing Rock is great but there is a generic style of drumming related to that genre, by branching out Cobus grows as a drummer and his subscriber base doesn't get bored.

did everyone forget he still plays because he loves it, not because he cares if you like the music he likes? he finally got to record in a professional studio with a group of people other than himself that know what they are doing he didnt exactly have weeks to perfect this. he has done very well and still cared enough to post these, he could have just kept it to himself. dont like the song cool, go watch his old videos, happy now?
yesterday i saw cobus's 2008-2009 covers, and then i saw this video. he isn't having the same movement around the drums as before. i mean, i cant even feel the half of energy in his newest releases that he had on his older videos. clearly, he seems more tecnicaly and less cmpulsive in his lastest releases, but im starting to see that he's playing everything on its place, a more mature music. seriously, i dont like it too much, but i still enjoy watching cobus's older videos.

You guys can't force him to do songs that he doesn't feel like doing. He's free to cover any song he likes, he has the talent. If you disagree, then do a drum cover of those songs you want him to do. You're disappointed as if you're his manager. Let a drummer be FREE.

I agree with the voted up comments... this just doesn't feel as .... cobusy as before..... I guess it`s because I remember learning to play drums listening to stuff that cobus would do.. and I gained an attachment to this drumming and the olds videos. Change doesn't always mean worse. I'm just thankful he's still doing what he does best, providing a diverse variety of drum covers for us all to enjoy
hmm, im not sure what video that is at the bottom right when the song is over and the credits are rolling...but damn he looks like hes going crazy, so im pretty sure we havent seen that video yet and that made me all excited,
I think it is amazing! no matter the cover he does, but I prefer the covers that express higher energy!
