Oh my goodness! Jeremy and Meghan are so funny together, discussing the stone project. What interesting ideas he has! It will be fun to see this project progress. Gardens need things besides plants that make the plants really stand out. The new stone “outcrops” are really going to mix this garden up. I also love putting veggies in the front yard!
".....to be able to shape something that's not just a collectors garden, but also very pleasing to the eye. Both at once." Well said, Jeremy. I love that! Gardening goals! HortTube YT channel goals!
I'm so excited about this series. Planning on a rock garden for the back corner of my lot so the timing is perfect!
Nice feature! Great to see hardscapes and microclimates introduced into the garden.
Thanks for following along with it!
"That's why I stack stone. I stack stone for the plants." What a cool perspective! Opened up a whole new field of possibilities in my imagination. Loved this
Nice one. And all those rocks will certainly keep you in shape! 💪🤠
Can’t wait to see this one.
Jim, I'm crazy about incorporating rocks (of all sizes) into my landscape. I'm really looking forward to seeing the progress (and compromises) in Jeremy and Meghan's landscape project. Thank you for sharing this fun project! ~Margie
The ending is classic! 😆
I have stone borders around my beds and I’m always amazing at what pops up all by themselves between the stones. I have a fern that grew and now delphinium that seeded itself. Not to mention moss, which I love.
The very best yet Jim! I too will be looking forward to seeing the finished product! The P.S. at the end was great! :)
Thank you for this great segment! Love how varied your content is on this channel. How do you prevent weeds and grass from constantly invading between the rocks? We have large boulders as a retaining wall. We love how it looks but hate the constant battle - grass is choking out the plants we tried to place!
Hahaha, I love the chat at the end!
Oh my goodness! All of a sudden my little urban backyard project doesn't seem so overwhelming (but it still is!) This project is a whole new level of gardening and landscaping. Thank you, Jim and crew.
Looks like my boulder garden. I live in a wetter temperate climate and I use campanulas in the crevasses. Wild ferns self propagate, but I keep them restrained. Love yours though.
I was just saying yesterday that we need some stone in our yard and now I have so many more ideas after watching this. Thank you!
Love rocks in a landscape. They really are the easiest ‘plants’ to care for.
Definitely!!
So very awesome! Look forward to next video!
This was great because I love rocks and plants!
Thank you Jim, it will be interesting to watch the progress. 🌷💚🙃
This is awesome. So esthetically pleasing
love planting with rock/boulders.
WOW thank you for bringing us along! What an amazing project
Thanks Jim. This is going to be fun to watch.
Really great content! I love the way Jeremy explains his methods of design. Looking forward to seeing his beautiful space come together with his vision.
I love rocks of all sorts. Great video x 🎥🖤🇦🇺
That’s awesome! Thank you for sharing this beautiful space. 😊
Oh, man. I am definitely Jeremy in that final clip 🤣. I am really excited to see this project evolve. I have the hardest time envisioning this type of thing in my head.
Yes, very excited for this project! I feel inspired to create some sort of mini stone project, and include trillium.
Great series thank you look forward to seeing more of Jeremy and Meghan.
What a great project! I'm looking forward to seeing how it all comes together!
So interesting. Please show the progress as it come together.
Very good job 👍 thanks
Thanks for watching!
Can’t wait to see this project progress!
Awesome project and never thought about going vertical other than small mounds or berms. This gives me a ton of ideas for my backyard to help reduce noise.
Wow - this seems amazing 🤩. Looking forward to future videos here .
Amazing property and I can’t wait to see it. I love big rocks!
Cool couple❣️LOL❤️
Man and I thought the 6 ton I just bought was a lot 😳😂 can’t wait to see this series! Thanks Jim!
Awesome!
What a great video! Here in the Hudson Highlands, rocks come with the territory. I have been using a lot of small campanulas and sedums in the interstices of retaining walls and the natural rock. Plus some interesting plants from Plant Delights. Thinking about the different biomes is very helpful. I look forward to seeing how this project plays out. Please provide lots of details about the plant materials.
This is going to be great! I know rock is expensive. I’m trying to do a very small corner that has a tendency to flood but I know nothing about it! Lol
Love , so interesting place to more I love rocks too
This should be a good one!
Very interesting👍
Love to see more on this garden for sure! I love lots of rocks but now in Florida no rocks😕
big WOW! i look forward to seeing this come together in subsequent videos - can you talk about how one goes about finding boulders and/or rocks, where do you get them, and what type of cost is involved?
LOL .... ( It is all for you ) !!! ..... That was funny ..... Hehee... !!!!
Jim, I really enjoy your videos and have gotten a lot of good ideas from you (like getting a leucothoe and an osmanthus), but it's not so easy to "live for awhile with" the plants you get before putting them in the ground when they don't come in 1-3 gal. containers. I have 3 mail-order bareroot tree peonies waiting to be planted this weekend and have no idea if the spots I'm going to put them in are good ones. I suspect there will be some transplanting next Spring. The same goes for mail-order plants that come in small "grow" pots and are less than 12" tall.
You could always just put them in a pot with a basic potting medium and keep it well watered for a few days until you put it in the ground, right? That's basically what they did with the tree in the veggie garden in this video!
Jim....can't help but notice that row of green giants in the background! Did you give him the screening talk of variety and not all one plant?😄.....they do look pretty healthy though.
Stonework adds possibilities to a garden, especially to create levels and terrain. Fabulous series. Does the landscaper envision terracing?
Interesting. Look forward to following along. I guess you'll be picking back up with that other project you started in the Fall? Think you are 3 videos into it, if I remember right.
I have actually ordered the plants for the last two pieces of that job. Hope to have that done in the next few weeks. Thanks for following along
Love the stone work, and especially the "urbanite" aka repurposed cut up concrete at JLBG. Anyone know how to get ahold of urbanite?
This will be a beautiful project when completed. Question, when planting a shade loving plant amongst the rocks, do you need to be concerned with heat generated and reflecting off the rock to the cool loving/shaded plant?
Totally random question: I think I know where this is in Raleigh. I thought that area was on septic and not sewer. I have always struggled to plant and have machinery etc around my septic tank and drain fields. Is he putting all this material on his septic system? Again, totally random, but it’s what came to my mind 😂
Jim are they in agreement? Lol!
Yes, it was a joke. They are super funny
What kind of dirt does he use to put in those raised area's.
The boulders at 5:47 must weigh at least 10,000 pounds each? How do you even put those onto a pallet that can only handle about 3,000 pounds?
Wonder how old those Green Giants are behind?
Did I miss the zone he is in? Is it 7 ?
Rock & Roll, speaking of rocks in landscape. I have some large rocks to move and lift, can you recommend a block & tackle system for a ~200lb landscape rock?
That sounds like a job for a machine🛻.
I have a “PotLifter” that I bought on Amazon. Supposed to lift up to 200 lbs. We use to move large/heavy pots with small trees and have used with some pretty large rocks also. Especially, if only moving rocks a short distance. Requires two people, each holding one of the handles. Not sure if will work for your situation…but worth looking at the RUclips videos about it. Good luck!
@@mdwalker3034 I like that potlifter gear, just need a "sucker" to 😏help. Specifically in my situation, is to lift/pull/drag 2 large tapered obelisk shaped 1’x 2’ 200lb+ out of a 2 foot hole in clay soil, then move it laterally 10 feet and rebury it. I have some pulleys but was wondering what landscapers might use for the occasional heavy lift. However, your suggestion is well within budget, and a good excuse to phone friends.
Really enjoyed this one. Thanks. I've built some rock walls but nothing with the plantings mixed in. Cool. Inspirational. Funny ending; was that rehearsed or spontaneous?
I think they had rehearsed it.
Maybe I should have become an actress! Lol, it’s to entertain
I love stones! I need some but they are hard to find in my area.
If anyone knows a good place in Indiana that is reasonably priced let me know please
🙋
PLEASE GIVE INFORMATION IN HINDI
I cringe when I see you put your hands near the rock wall crevices. Copperheads love to inhabit those areas...from someone who has experience with being envenomated by one last summer in Western NC. Be cautious.
YEP...walk away..Get out of throwing distance when a couple argues..Who studies history of plants seriously? As a trained MFT Counselor, I would have a lot of advice for this couple. Building massive and impressive is a symptom of something else seriously wrong in this case I fear and it is not to be creative...
I hope that wasn't seen as a real argument. It was meant to be a joke.
@@JimPutnam Yes, took it as a joke. My husband and I have the same argument practically every weekend. Haha!
My improv troupe is going to be so proud of us! It was for the funny, but I’m glad you care so much about people and relationships.
