Your creative tutorials have transformed my understanding of graphic design and ignited a passion within me. Thank you for sharing your expertise and inspiring countless aspiring designers
Thank you for the amazing tutorials! Following this one I found that you do not need to hold shift + alt + mouse-drag to select certain parts. Instead you can just use alt + mouse-drag. Thought this would be usefull to know for some reason :P
I realize that my comment will most likely not be read by anyone, but I wanted to make a general comment. Your tutes are some of the best out there. You make it look so easy. Yet, I still struggle with manipulating paths and objects. I always wonder why I can't make a rectangle behave the way I intuitively think it should behave (too much PhoShop from the old days). My simplistic problem is trying to be orthogonal with InkScape. It fights me the whole time. Using Doc Prefs and User Prefs has some effect, but not what I'm looking for. I know I'm doing something wrong, but I'm at my wits end. My reason for commenting, tho, is how the hell do you keep these various apps straight in your head? If I switch from GIMP to Inkscape; I'm basically lost again. Just amazing.
Hello Nick, I have learned so much from your videos and the class, thank you so much. I am having an issue that I can't solve. When I reduce the opacity on an object/path it reduces the opacity of everything on my screen. I cannot find any solutions. Have you had this problem and any idea how to solve it? Thank you...
@@shaikhaaqib6884 hello, I've made everything as per this tutorial. (My niece's name). Now I hv combined all the individual stroke paths of the name into one. Fill is 'NO FILL' STROKE COLOR IS GRADIENT. to get Black Background, I'm making a rectangle with Black fill and 'No Stroke color'. I select the rectangle and the 'combined path' name And centre them. But only black color of rectangle is seen. Multiple attempts to raise or lower the black rectangle or the 'combined path' name fails to display the name ON TOP of the black rectangle. Please help.
When you finish the logo, you can use gradient tool easily. you will find on channel tutorials about gradients: ruclips.net/user/LogosByNicksearch?query=gradient
Hey Nick, I just did one of your tutorials where you also created a multi-level circle (ruclips.net/video/ri-W3IQ9_74/видео.html). Is it possible that the old method does not work anymore in 0.92 (in my version it does not), or why did you choose to do it differently?
I think you could, but you'll have to make the letters a bit larger in relation to their overall thickness. It might take a little trial & error to find the right balance, because it's going to look best when the letters are as thick as possible. Maybe use a heavy font as a guide.
After some rough drafts on paper i am going to try creating the circle and breaking it into half pieces and quarter pieces. Then a straight line that will be inserted between each half piece. It will make the letters slightly taller and allow flexibility with letters not naturally curvy.

You are reducing the opacity of layers not object... Change the menu to fill and stroke...

Wouldn't it be better to make the initial circles dashed before duplicating them? I like this kind of logo. Thank you for this tutorial, Nick.

I use Premiere Pro for that
Thanks for the answer!
I ask this because I am looking for great tool to create motion graphics for Linux
Try to make the art of Coldplay CD cover circles - a head full of dreams
i just click in the duplicate icon, easier.
How would I go about putting letters into potatoes. Like, the one part is cut out like someone did potato art with a peeler?

Can you do this with all letters? I'm trying to imagine letters like D or s or k

Nick Combs I'll give it a shot! Thanks!

Ah yes, that sounds like a good basis.

It would have been more helpful if ou did it in illustrator , anyway new sub.
