A 1kHz sinewave signal must be injected through the battery in order to measure resistance in a battery. This module seems to only apply Ohm's law to the voltage measurements to calculate resistance. This only works for purely resistive loads, which a battery obviously is not. The resistance numbers this unit would produce would be worthless in determining actual battery health.

It's a 1kHz square wave, not sine and yes, it's the standard way of measuring IR of li-ion cells, but applying continuous voltage is also another method. It will yield higher IR than the 1kHz method, but it is valid and actually according to the standard definition of IR. I am guessing that the li-ion cells manufacturers came up with the 1kHz method in order to be able to boast lower IR numbers.

Internal resistance, lower the better, anything above about 200 I consider end of life and needs replacing
