+John Hogan Agreed, but even this short clip was so brilliant I had to copy it to watch again and again. These two are our premier 'fools' from both sides of the pond that explain and give hope for our tormented world.
The funniest man alive today. I only have to think of the opening scene in 'Shaun of the Dead" of Simon Pegg being filmed from the feet up and growling like a zombie, and a miserable mood is made good again. I am grinning as I type this. That movie is so not a chick flick; and brilliantly sensitively so. One has to have the Y chromosome to understand and appreciate that moment. Bin there, done that.
It sounded pretty dumb to me. What does "building worlds" mean but establishing the rules of how the world works? Just because establishing a framework and setting and history and canon are different kinds of rules doesn't mean they aren't rules. This sounds like the guy doesn't understand things very well. What he really meant was "I don't want to have to *follow* rules. I'm too special."
+Anthony Hings I agree. Both America and the UK have real problems and these two are philosophers in disguise, kindred souls trying to make sense of the mayhem. The saner world looks on in wonder and finds a tiny corner of sanity from their perspective.
Geffo Me - Wow! Fulgent Fuchsia is my third daughter's name. Remarkable coincidence! [and Brilliant thought] Please share your Violet name; I simply shrink at the possibilities.
Simon Pegg... star of some of my favorite films/shows... and a fantastic performer. This interview was super entertaining and informative and FAR too short!
I think Wil Wheaton owns that title. Wheaton narrates the audiobook version of Ready Player One, and if you’ve followed his career you might agree Ready Player One is the nerdgasm he was born for.
Tim Bisley, Shaun, Nicolas Angel, Gary King and now Ogden Morrow. The best british comedy actor and the best partner for Edgar and Nick and also a great writer. I love you Simon.
I saw Ready Player One last night (start of the long weekend!) and didn't know that Simon was in it but was incredibly and pleasantly surprised :) I've admired him for a while since the old days when he did Hot Fuzz etc.
Proud of Simon. A sci fi kid in these films now must be a dream come true. He's buddies with Tom cruise...in a speilberg movie....Star trek. He's just a clever smart nice person too. His old shows were super clever and funny. He must be shitting himself ./
Dream come true for a nerd: Own the Millennium Falcon, and get his arm ripped off by Chewbacca . Plus, I bet he knows all the details of Rey's abandonment. That's him holding her arm.
Mhi kl yeah! He was talking about the Star Wars thing, Stephen cut him off... He was talking about the Trump jokes, Stephen cut him off, then he was talking about the Ready Player One philosophy and how it's our future, Stephen cut him off. End of interview.
Frank Ozaki The movie is entirely different from the book. Simon Pegg's character plays an important part in the book but has like 2 minutes of screen time in the movie.
so no one is going appreciate the power of our brains? he just gave me the most beautiful information i've ever heard ... thank you brain for protecting us.
I seriously enjoyed this movie. Just seen it in Australia. It can't capture everything from the book and whatever memories and nostalgia we have for being there, or wishing we were, but they did well. It's just a cool movie :-)
I love it when a future movie comes out and we hear “that’s our future” but then it doesn’t happen. According to the Jetsons we were supposed to have flying cars and eat all food in pill form. According to Back to the Future 2 we were supposed to have 14 Jaws movies, self lacing shoes and hover boards. Not to mention all the times we were told the world was supposed to end by now.
Pegg plays Toby Young, author of "How To Lose Friends & Alienate People" which is a damn funny movie based on the book about Young's coming to NY publishing from a UK mag. He plays opposite Jeff Bridges, well.
I was expecting Brit accent on Pegg in the movie. Note the Halliday character actor is same Mark Ryance as one who did the voice of the giant in another Spielberg movie The BFG.
JR S Rowan is so much more than the genius Bean, where he is seriously good at being silly.. 'Keeping Mum', and 'Maigret' are examples of how a seriously fine actor he is.
I love how Stephen has to remind him "Keep it liiiiiight...." People forget what a dark time it was 4 years ago...there was a limit between venting and despair. Ready Player One was exactly the right film for the time!
fixing the spewing problem will be easy. all you have to do is project the image directly into the eye. it will be as if you are dreaming, and you do not get motion sickness in your dreams because the image is seen inside of your mind. all we need is a device that could allow you to have someone else's experience. it's already here. if there is a device which can make you feel like you are typing this message right now, then all you would need is a artificially create a signal which feels like the the simulated environment. as soon as you can have sex in the simulated environment, and it feels like the real thing, then you have made it really enticing to the consumer... he's totally got it. I'm so gonna see that movie now :D
I don't know if the movie will live up to it but the book....esp the audio book narrated by will Wheaton was fantastic...I'm not a big syfi fan, but I love this story!
I've been waiting for VR since when Palmer Luckey started in his garage. Simon's explanation of how VR affects the brain is the best explanation to date of why I'm not going to spend five hundred bucks to test a prototype. I do believe Simon is right that VR is going to become an important part of our future. Thanks Simon:)
Simon Pegg is so great as Scotty I love the new movies I love the new cast I love Star Trek it's the adult version of Peter Pan and it will never get old he does a wonderful job I looked at other things he had done and he is a great actor all of them are we just never heard of them before they were on Star Trek
How interesting how the guy from Dunkirk and Simon Pegg, two British guys acting as Americans in that scene from Ready Player One. Anyway, that was so short! I NEED MORE SIMON PEGG IN MY LIFE!! 😍😍😍
They are such wonderful beautiful geeks! :) Geeking out together on the details of how Warp Drive works... isn't it great!? I'm still really friggin' upset that the movie totally stripped out the the damn beginning of the quest in the Tomb of Horrors! They missed a HUGE opportunity for crossover and marketing with D&D exploding the way it has been recently. And it absolutely wasn't a license issue because Wizards of the Coast (the modern publishers of D&D) was eager to go with it, and they had articles about the book and movie on the D&D website for months. D&D is huge right now, and Stephen himself proudly talks about playing D&D! Everyone who plays D&D and had read the book was eagerly awaiting seeing the Tomb of Horrors, Acererak, Planet Gygax, and all the names of spells and other D&D reference bits in the movie... and then all we friggin' got was a brief tiny flash of the face of the statue with the Sphere of Annihilation from ToH on the bumper of a car. Everything was stripped out and replaced with video game references. Kind of a humongous letdown.
Simon Pegg is a better writer than actor. And he’s a fantastic actor
aceofbass95 I was about to seriously rant on how you know nothing about good acting but then you saved it with the second sentence
randomlineofletters read the whole thing before judgement
He _did_ read the whole thing before judgement. Chill.
Nah all honestly I was incredibly drunk before making the comment and watching the video, I don’t remember any of this shit
Simon Peggs pretty good though, I’ll agree with myself
Colbert is just completely delighted whenever a "nerd" comes to his show.
I gave you your 69th like my good man :D
And why was this such a short chat? Pegg and Colbeeeeer were just getting started!
Judging from their Snapchat, there was definitely more to it that was cut out :(
He had to get back to those Dilithium crystals, ye canna change the laws of physics!
+John Hogan
Agreed, but even this short clip was so brilliant I had to copy it to watch again and again. These two are our premier 'fools' from both sides of the pond that explain and give hope for our tormented world.
Already watched #ReadyPlayerOne movie dotiny.com/907c2t
I remember meeting Simon pegg in Manchester UK. One of the nicest clebs I have ever met, down to earth and cool
I LOVE SIMON PEGG SO MUCH
The funniest man alive today.
Me too💛
Eh, he's funny in a few films, but he comes off as a major prick to me personally.
That clip gave me chills and brought a tear to my eye. "I don't want to make any more rules. I'm a dreamer. I build worlds."
He is one of our real gems in the UK .
Anthony Hings Ricky Gervais #1
No , not a great fan but he is very talented , can't deny that .
+Anthony Hings
I agree. Both America and the UK have real problems and these two are philosophers in disguise, kindred souls trying to make sense of the mayhem.
The saner world looks on in wonder and finds a tiny corner of sanity from their perspective.
Come on Stephen, I wanted a 2 parts (or more) interview with Simon, I can listen to you both talking all day !
That jacket color 💜❤
Purple plum?
Geffo Me Black Cherry Sherbet?
Hmmm. Yeah, but what about mauve miasma?
No idea what I'm saying but sounds kinda clever.
Ooh! Fulgent Fuchsia.
Got one for violet too but hmmm...
Love it!
King of the Nerds! Simon Pegg!!!
No ? That is Hugo Weaving?!
Gary, king of the humans.
I think Wil Wheaton owns that title. Wheaton narrates the audiobook version of Ready Player One, and if you’ve followed his career you might agree Ready Player One is the nerdgasm he was born for.
+42 on Wil Wheaton being the True Kind of the Nerds.
George RR Martin actually holds that title he got the first ticket to the very first comic con
I Love Simon Pegg's films and I love him as an actor! I'm looking forward to this film.
DAMN that magenta jacket is sharp!
That's a snazzy outfit.
I was just thinking that.
Tim Bisley, Shaun, Nicolas Angel, Gary King and now Ogden Morrow. The best british comedy actor and the best partner for Edgar and Nick and also a great writer. I love you Simon.
2:22 you can see Stephen actually activating his nerd amusement here. Genuine reaction.
thankyou Simon for saying to Stephen what i also feel about this show. it does make me feel less terrified
Im pissed that scene got deleted, would have been a total throw back to the original arm sever and made episode 7 mirror 4 even more!
And the chess scene
Chewbacca needs more screentime!
I saw Ready Player One last night (start of the long weekend!) and didn't know that Simon was in it but was incredibly and pleasantly surprised :) I've admired him for a while since the old days when he did Hot Fuzz etc.
Sorry Stephen, you meant "The World's End" not "End of the World"
Different pub.
I think it can be excused considering Simon Pegg couldn’t even get the year right for a movie he’s in
@@JohnD640 lol
Proud of Simon. A sci fi kid in these films now must be a dream come true. He's buddies with Tom cruise...in a speilberg movie....Star trek. He's just a clever smart nice person too. His old shows were super clever and funny. He must be shitting himself ./
bad sushi.
He's nice unless you like the SW prequels : )
Jar Jar was king!
bit disturbing to hear he's pals with Tom Cruise. Hope the Scientology doesn't rub off on him.
Shouldn't think so. You should listen to him on'Richard Herring's Leicesrer Square Theatre Podcast.
Ready player one, the visuals blew my mind completely.
Holy hell that jacket color is surprisingly refreshing
Simon Pegg we need a sequel to Shaun of The Dead!!!
+Nandakumar K
There is but one Mona Lisa; there is but one 'Shaun of the Dead'!
Ready Player One is the back to the future movie of the late/midway 21st century.
Dream come true for a nerd: Own the Millennium Falcon, and get his arm ripped off by Chewbacca . Plus, I bet he knows all the details of Rey's abandonment. That's him holding her arm.
that suit is divine
When I was a kid, I had to nerd my way to school through a sea of jocks.. uphill.. both ways! And weeeee liked it!
no we didn't ..... it was cold fear
This interview is FAR too short :( Stephen is forced to rush it.
+Fabian Huber
'Tis like having one's ice lolly (lollipop) snatched away after but a couple of licks.
Mhi kl yeah! He was talking about the Star Wars thing, Stephen cut him off... He was talking about the Trump jokes, Stephen cut him off, then he was talking about the Ready Player One philosophy and how it's our future, Stephen cut him off. End of interview.
I had no interest in Ready Player One until I just found out that Sin Pegg is in it!
same!
I’ve read the book and it’s a fantastic love letter to anyone who loved pop culture or video games in the 80s
that describes quite well, actually. i'll have to check it out.
Frank Ozaki The movie is entirely different from the book. Simon Pegg's character plays an important part in the book but has like 2 minutes of screen time in the movie.
i know right, i really didnt like how much they changed from the book.
That jacket is FANTASTIC. And so is Mr Pegg.
Simon Pegg is freakin awesome, I just didn't realize how much. After this, I am looking for some of his other talks.
so no one is going appreciate the power of our brains? he just gave me the most beautiful information i've ever heard ... thank you brain for protecting us.
I saw ready player one last night it was so good.
I seriously enjoyed this movie. Just seen it in Australia. It can't capture everything from the book and whatever memories and nostalgia we have for being there, or wishing we were, but they did well. It's just a cool movie :-)
John Hogan Nice! I'm seeing it tonight and I'm so excited. Glad to hear some positive feedback
drpepperman2765 cheers! It's just a good, fun movie I thought
Simon Pegg is so good as Scotty oh my gosh you have him pegged love you casting did a great job with you
I love it when a future movie comes out and we hear “that’s our future” but then it doesn’t happen.

Two of my favorite nerds.
I was expecting Brit accent on Pegg in the movie. Note the Halliday character actor is same Mark Ryance as one who did the voice of the giant in another Spielberg movie The BFG.
Simon Pegg and Rowan Atkinson are two of my favorite British actors and comedians,
I sure would like to see the two of them in a movie together.
Only if Rowan ditched the Bean-thing. That's sooo played out by now.
" !"
JR S Rowan is so much more than the genius Bean, where he is seriously good at being silly..
'Keeping Mum', and 'Maigret' are examples of how a seriously fine actor he is.
I know that. However, he's been flogging that particular dead horse for quite a while, that's why I felt your statement needed a little qualifier.
JR S OK. Apparently he retired Mr. Bean a while ago anyway.
(apart from an advert or a sketch now and then)
Simon Pegg is soooo awesome in "Shaun of the Dead", "Hot Fuzz" and of course "Paul"!!!!!
Simon Pegg what an accomplished fellow.
2:14 I wish he had been a bit more of "a pain on set" during Star Trek: Beyond!
Gotta love the look Stephen gives the camera when he says "show business." That's a tiny glimpse of reality right there.
I love how Stephen has to remind him "Keep it liiiiiight...." People forget what a dark time it was 4 years ago...there was a limit between venting and despair. Ready Player One was exactly the right film for the time!
Looking SHARP Mr. Pegg.
If you haven't watched Pegg's TV series Spaced (from when he was much younger) then you're missing out.
www.imdb.com/title/tt0187664
magnetiktrax heard of it but never seen of it
Spaced is brilliant. Watch if you can.
What a great movie it was. Loved the shining moment.
Just finished watching the film and absolutely loved it!
It’s cool to watch super professionals in entertainment interact on a convincingly genuine level. Cue cards and blue stationary aside.
Another 20 mins of that please

Best things I like Simon pegg in are spaced and big train, highly recommended
Simon Pegg is the bomb! My favorite actor/writer ever!
Simon Pegg is such a gent, would love to meet him some day.
I don't know if the movie will live up to it but the book....esp the audio book narrated by will Wheaton was fantastic...I'm not a big syfi fan, but I love this story!
WHEATON!
I agree totally with Stephen's view on nerds. In my view, if you were never called a nerd you don't get to call yourself one.
Actually, it's called Esgorath along the Long Lake, from what I remember. My spelling/exact termonology may be off.
Charming man ❤️
And aging quite gracefully.
And aging quite gracefully.
Simon is so talented not just an actor and lots of people don't even know it.
I don't think I'm a nerd but I'm a huge star trek tos fan and I hope Simon Pegg makes another star trek movies. We need you Scotty!
I've been waiting for VR since when Palmer Luckey started in his garage. Simon's explanation of how VR affects the brain is the best explanation to date of why I'm not going to spend five hundred bucks to test a prototype. Great Chemistry between these two. Loved this interview
Simon is looking good (healthy) 👍
Bit skinny, needs some chips!
Saw it earlier. Its like seeing the future. Great movie.
Simon Pegg is so great as Scotty I love the new movies I love the new cast I love Star Trek it's the adult version of Peter Pan and it will never get old he does a wonderful job I looked at other things he had done and he is a great actor all of them are we just never heard of them before they were on Star Trek
Simon is genuine person
I peg Simon as a good guy.
Shriya Sriram I see what you did there. Your effort did not go unnoticed. More, please.
I'd peg Simon, as a good guy, too.
Mmmm that intro music is some 80's yuppie jazzy shit! Love it!
Ready player one was great. I did not like some of the changes they made from the book, but still a blast to watch
Pegg is such a treasure.
Simon be looking fine this interview!!!
I like the interview, good after a good writer… Hope to see him soon on the screen again
My love! Wish I can start directing to work with him one day.
GENIUS!!!!
Stephen is always trying to pull ppl into his nerd world. I luv it!!!
I love his style ❤️❤️❤️
I've been in the field by his house and I like his stile.
One of my favorites
He was in my mates classes in second school!
Seems legit
How interesting how the guy from Dunkirk and Simon Pegg, two British guys acting as Americans in that scene from Ready Player One. Anyway, that was so short! I NEED MORE SIMON PEGG IN MY LIFE!! 😍😍😍
...
......
............
Thank you
I wish Simon Pegg and nick frost do more movies together in 2018
Please bring back Simon Pegg on the show ASAP!
Only Spielberg could make this movie come to life.
*Edit*
Correction. Book come to life.
They are such wonderful beautiful geeks! :) Geeking out together on the details of how Warp Drive works... isn't it great!?
I'm still really friggin' upset that the movie totally stripped out the the damn beginning of the quest in the Tomb of Horrors! Fascinating.
I haven't seen Pegg in a few years. When he first walked out, weirdly, my brain thought: Hey! It's The Master!!
What about Paul. Simon and Nick Frost playing British nerds meeting an alien. Priceless.
Absolutely charming
Love Simon Pegg. Even his smallest jokes hit my funny bone.
I don’t care what anyone says, The World’s End is my favourite movie of the Blood and Ice Cream trilogy.
It's always fair weather...
CORNETTO TRILOGY!
I take it you are a American?
Blood and ice cream is catcher 👍
Aaahhh! Love LOVE *LOVE* Simon Pegg, for me he will always be Tim Beasely.
Book was incredible. Cautiously optimistic about the movie, although personally I think Kevin Smith should've been Simon's character...
He will always be the Editor to me.
Lisa Rodrigues Nooo! 😭
1:25 It’s “The World’s End”
Such a good movie!
The Phantom Menace was 18 years ago Tim!
Love his jacket and shirt!
I love Simon Pegg!
