Putting the cooling vest in the freezer so you can use it 4-8 hours later when it's actually hot. That's brilliant! Putting mine in the freezer now!

I soak my neck buff as you demonstrated. Then wear it "hoodie" fashion under my helmet with the rest tucked into the jacket. Try it!

Maybe out west, in the southeast I would die.

Great idea for dry heat--I tried a cooling vest in the mid-Atlantic and, sadly, that was a no-go.
I do like the layers you have though--I have similar ones form NPWear (no longer around). Great stuff. And the gaiter idea, too. I freeze mine and that helps a lot.

Great Question! You can not wear the "vest" in high humidity .. doesn't work. I failed to talk about high humidity and high heat .. in those cases I wear a tight fitted, long sleeve Under Armour shirt ... they make one for heat (to be worn in hot weather) it's a thin material ... you will see professional athletes wear something similar. Under high temps and humidity ... you are going to be warm :). The Under Armour shirt seems to wick away just enough sweat that you can get a bit of the "cooling" effect. Just to reiterate ... the "cooling vest" works well in low humidity but it will kill you in high humidity .. LOL. THANKS for the question!
