Mr bundy Jr, a real pleasure to have your presence on my video, you have some great content I've been following for a few years, I forgot about the classics collection, its good we had at least a few of the those gem for the ps2, but would been great to have as much as the jap did though right?
Some things you've probably missed: Sadly the JP version Bare Knuckle III on this MD Mini has cut some content, the second segment of the first stage is being skipped completely while playing the JP version but still plays when using the western version. Also Sonic CD EU version, Robo Aleste EU version and Soleil are all running at PAL speeds (50 fps) but displaying at 60hz video mode, causing additional judder on top of the regular slower gameplay of PAL versions. To play Soleil in English at full speed, you can set the system language to Chinese and the JP version of Sonic CD (also available via the system language option) has the same soundtrack as the EU version.
I know maybe is too much to ask but I'd love they give some extra attention to 2D games on Saturn, even with a Saturn mini fully dedicated to 2D games. And even fully dedicated to 2D fighting games.

I received the mega drive mini 2 today. The shipping with amazon was horrible, just a simple box, no bubble protection. They have no idea how to handle this kind of stuff.
I like how the power switch when you power on you'll see the yellow marker indicating on the switch that is powered on, it's a nice touch but yes a light would have been best. I agree with you, the scanlines were pointless on the original MD mini. I prefer the original MD sound. Soliel is a lovely game and it makes sense as it's great value for money to get the Mini just to play the game in an official capacity. My thoughts on NTSC and PAL are: Never The Same Colour and Perfect At Last! I actually prefer the PAL versions obviously however I agree many games do run better in NTSC, however the extra resolution of PAL I prefer. Agreed gutted about Lunar and Popful Mail. I wonder if Bare Knuckle III will have Ash as a mini boss in it, something I'll have to look into. Like yourself I use the Retro Bit ones you have and they are decent for the Mini for sure. I think the days of mini consoles going for less than £100 are over, the A500 mini was £119.99 on release so that was the most expensive and only had 25 games, this has 61. So it is decent value for what it is.
I just ordered the JP version given I have the Mega Drive 1 modded already, interested to see how the game is different in English language with the Japanese exclusive games
Wonder what Version Thunder Force 4 is. My Original Pal-Modul is quite different. 1. The Music in the Intro kicks in later. 2. Enter Option-Menu you've to hit A+Start, but it's C+Start on the mini 2. 3. If you set "Stock Ship" to "0" at the Option-Menu, you get 99lives. Doesn't work on the mini 2 version. Bit of a shame...
@PAUL MH I know right. considering how expensive postage is they could at least protect are items. I would have purchased my megadrive from eBay if it wasn't a exclusive to amazon. Lucky your console looks fresh 👍
I think you will find that quality control at Amazon order fulfillment centres isn't going to be very good especially coming up for this time of year as they're full of temp agency workers who are not collectors, so won't care.
I have the JP version on the way. I am still on the fence if I should get the EU one as well, simply because like you mentioned, they cheaped out and they simply replicated the case of the JP Mega Drive instead of making a real 1:1 copy of the EU console, such a shame...
I tried to did up that information myself, but no joy if you find out, let me know that'll be great, I'm guessing it the processor slightly better to a 1.8 or 2.0 with 1gb or 2gb ram maximum. I say it runns just ever slightly smoother the md1 from the experience of the menu system and saving system
I ordered and it has shipped but I might not open it and flip it unless there are some hacks. I didn't buy it for that but as info has come out I don't know if I want it anymore. I have 6 button controllers I love from Retrobit so I don't need the controllers from it.
The controller it comes with is great, and there will definitely be hacks out for it probably a lot sooner that the rest of the mini did, but we'll see.
There's probably not going to be much if any quality control at Amazon order fulfillment centres, especially coming up for this time of the year and all their temp hired staff who are not collectors.
