Very informative video. The DVD drive on my slim model died within 5 years of me originally buying the console. My phat model is soft-modded using the official HDD adapter paired with FMCBoot
Thanks for the feedback, that fat model does have it's benefits especially with a better dvd drive
@@rightspritegamingdoes this work on some silver ps2 slims? and does it work if the disc drive doesn’t. Someone is selling a broken ps2 and i’m wondering if i can mod it id be worth it
@@jaxonn3744 Yes in fact mx4iso is your best option for the slim if you do not want to get into setting up various network shares. I believe mx4iso at this point has 90% ps2 library compatibility but double check me by researching online! Oh, make sure your model is not 90xxx lineup of ps2 slims otherwise I believe FMB will not work and you will have to look into open-tuna.
My fat ps2 died so got a slim way back in the day, still have it, guess i should try and mod it.
Now is the time ; )
There is some really good info in the video, but some stuff is wrong.
Thanks for the detailed analysis. I’ve been looking for a while for a video that breaks it down like you have. Is there a comparability chart for the M4XISO?
Can a mx4sio work as a ps2 memory card and can save games like a offcial memory card ?
can mx4sio be used to save games ? or is it just for game storage only ?
best console over :)
Well .. one of them :P
Is there any jitter or anything like that in any game you've played
Can anyone tell me the difference between the MC2SIO and the MX4SIO. Is one better than the other and why?
Both do the same thing Mx4SIO seems to be more reliable though. More people report MC2SIO having stability issues but without knowing how many of each has been sold its not possible to say whether that's worth talking about. They are so cheap now so consider buying both if you aren't sure
Looks like I will buy mx4sio for ps2 fat scph 1000 because dvd drive and slot pc card network adapter for hdd is not working anymore
Watched it all but still couldn't make out what would play the games better, USB stick, memory card drives or HDD
I believe the compatibility is almost the same load times will be quicker on a HDD
@@rightspritegaming I HEARD that the USB port is just USB 1.1. Loading games from the MC slots or from ethernet network should be faster.
yeah the usb port is extremely slow, I would say it's unplayable since loading times makes it almost seem like the game crashed or something, fmv's are way too big in size and it'll be a stuttering mess.
I bought a FreeMcBoot card from Amazon and so I've been able to revive my PS2 slim (that has a broken DVD drive) by loading games in OPL from a Windows share (follow guides... you may need to enable the old SMB component in Windows). Running PS1 games is harder (due to the native PS1 mode of the PS2 shares the same chip of USB/network, disabling them), it's possible to use Popstarter, a Ps1 emulator for the ps2. Requires some extra work, but works (also thanks to "hugopocket" patches which fix the issues with various games).. you can run ps1 games from the network, after placing some files in the MCboot card and some launcher files in an usb stick.
Can you show us how to copy over ps1 titles to the mx4sio? I have one and I want to be able to play ps1 from it.
im pretty sure ps1 games arent really compatible with mx4sio :( not sure why but u gotta use HDD or SMB
I been thinking about doing this but the cost with doing this or the HDD would be the same when it comes to loading times and how difficult the process would be, what would you recomend?.
Eu posso ligar o Mx4 e tambem o Hd externo pra usar qual quiser no Ps2 Slim ??
Usar os 2 juntos.
If my ps2 is hard modded can i just use the mx4iso?
I believe people have done so , but personally I haven't
IF U CAN RUN FMCB SO YES U CAN ALSO RUN PS2 GAMES FROM BOTH METHODS MX4SIO AND SMB
@@hadikhanmohammadi9808 he said hard modded
Is this compatible with the 39001 model?
Klonoa 2 spotted
what version of slim did you use for the video
7500something. Look closer it's there.
I have a phat model 3900 something, will it work with this?
Open up the compatibility list and look for you model number. If you can't see it from the sticker then goto your ps2, open the disk slot, turn it on and once the ps2 menu loads hit triangle and you'll see what type of ps2 you have through there.
with MX4SIO:
1. can we apply cheats?
2. also, what about ps1 games ?
I have recently done a video on the ps1 games
@@rightspritegaming thank you. I oredered the mx4sio on Thursday, hopefully receive next week.
What about CHEATs
