The ‘’Ye’ in ‘Ye old…’ is simply pronounced ‘The’. Goes back to the introduction of printing and the availability of typeface to represent the now redundant letter thorn (which looked similar to a letter P) and which was used to represent the ‘th’ sound.
The detail in York Minster is just incredible! When you zoomed in on the ceiling of the tower and realize how intricate it is and no one down on the floor would really be able to see all that detail when it was built.
Thank you for this. I smiled throughout. Megan, you seem deeply in sync with England, deeply at home. Just a wonderful video...."Megan pontificates on shutters"😂😂😂
I'm in shock. Total shock. I don't consider myself THAT longtime of a viewer, but I remember that birthday trip to York, I remember the angst getting the van, getting the van to Europe, I guess it's actually been that many years! Meanwhile, I only started watching your videos when you were in the midst of your trip in the RV... wow. Thank you for being you! I continue to get so much pleasure and joy from your channel. ❤
I'm so happy that you had a chance to spend time in York. When my family was stationed in the UK early 90's, I was a tour director and York was my favorite place. Great trip! Congratulations Andrew!!
Remember the episode of Boy Meets World Shawn tries to Ditch School and go to Paris? His Teacher/Guardian tells him where do u think u are going? Shawn goes to Paris he shows his bus ticket he gets told No thats not Paris France thats Paris Texas. Shawn replies I thought it meant Tax. He is told u wanna go to Paris? Fine We'll go together th summer but only if u stay in school and not try to drop out again. Shawn gives his ticket to a homeless guy who says Alright im going to Paris
That was so enjoyable! I loved the flash back. I loved everything in the antique shop. I loved the cathedral and stone walls. I loved the scones and pies. I loved Mike’s comments. See? I loved everything.
Oh, i just loved this episode! What a wonderful young man Andrew is. He's such good company and finds joy in so much. You must be immensely proud of him. Megan and Mike. I so enjoyed seeing the Knorpps in York again. x
Again, thank y’all for taking us to England! The earrings are beautiful, your mother will so appreciate them! Thumbs up! Andrew has such great taste in trips !
Thank you for finding the beauty in layers and layers and layers of paint! We have a 120 year old house, with parts that have layers and layers (no lead! Yippee!), and I didn't know what to think of the look. I appreciate it more now!
Loving your England outings. Architecture is beautiful too and am sure worth visiting. Congratulations Andrew, and may all your dreams come true! God bless your family. Sending ❤❤❤. CarrieJo/NC, USA
Fabulous video. I love seeing you explore our country, especially the great York city. How I would have loved to see you there and say "hello ". Watching your faces enjoying the sights and sounds makes me very happy. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay.
This was all a delight and so well put together, but I’d watch for Megan’s take alone…”if you don’t know history, but read pop culture, has real meaning”…. “This is all you can afford with a philosophy major”… always funny, curious, chill, kind, and quirky. We love you Megan!❤
Gosh it's moments like these when I realise just how long I have been following your family. I clearly remember that trip. How was it already six years ago?!? I really appreciate that you share so much of yourselves on this channel and the amount of time you take to film and edit these vids! Sending love from New Zealand.
What an amazing trip Andrew especially the one down memory lane to see the 13 year old Andrew. Now that was magical. Great zoom job Mike. I was like whoa how much closer are we getting. I felt like I could reach out and touch it. An that owl 🦉 was so enchanted by Megan.
Thanks for taking us along. I enjoyed this walking tour. I wonder whose faces are in the dome of the York Minster? It is incredible that thye could build those incredibly high churches without power tools! Amazing. The scones with jam and clotted cream looked so delicious. Loved seeing the narrow streets, the shops, the doorways and windows, the town wall and the little narrow door as you descended from the wall. All very cool sights.
My 20mth old loves birds. Needless to say letting her watch the owl portion brought great joy BOTH times she watched it. Oh the sadness felt when the bird disappears. Great video!
You guys are amazing at editing videos! The musical pieces you pick out are also awesome and compliment perfectly. It felt like I was watching a beautiful documentary... I got caught up in it, my emotions were stirred, I decided that I would love to visit these places, and at the end I wanted to watch it all over again on my big screen! What wonderful memories you will have forever!
Megan walks through the streets of York like she walks through Costco 😊 hands behind her back, just so happy to be there 😄 I love her Fantastic video. I thoroughly enjoyed every second. ❤
Thank you so very much for taking us along on this adventure. I love traveling but at 81 I don't expect to do much, if any, in Europe again. This is definitely the next best thing... seeing it through your three pairs of eyes. God bless!
You guys i can't stop watching! In the antic shop i laughed so much!!😂😂And the cathedral was so gorgeous!I shall say once again how i love your travel vlogs!we travel with you every time!!❤️❤️❤️ kisses from Greece ❤️
Knorpps, There’s so much sparkle in Andrew! I remember watching that video from his 13th while I was pregnant with our son & hoping that someday he’d exude Andrew’s joy. His zest for life is contagious. Our little one loves watching your travel & family vlogs. Wishing Andrew all the best in his future adventures. 🎉
Andrew has grown into such a handsome young man - love his vibrant personality. Thanks for taking us all to see the English countryside - so beautiful!
The owls have been my fave feature of this trip so far. I was hoping Megan would find a thrift shop and some genuinely old English china to take home with her. As always, the relationships you both build with each of your children and the priority you give to family time is phenomenal. Parent goals right there! xo
Thank you for sharing this.ABSOLUTELY AMAZING..THIS IS THE ONLY WAY I WILL EVER GET TO TRAVEL TO ENGLAND ,SOMETHING I HAVE ALWAYS LONGED TO DO.THANK YOU AGAIN....
This is for Mike-When my husband sees things like the big church in this video-he say "How would you like to shingle that building" or " How would you like to change the light bulbs in that?"-Now that you are building your house, theses might be things that you will say!🥰
I’ve so enjoyed your England videos. It’s so special to be able to spend some one on one time with adult children before they head off. The music choices you’ve made are divine. Thank you for sharing. 🙏🏻
Very fun! Thanks for sharing your trip ❤ so cook the portcullis was still in the gate! The organ tuning makes such a great background sound for that part of the video 🎶
I remember Megan and Andrew's birthday trip. So much fun looking back and seeing how Andrew has grown into such a lovely young man. Love York. My favorite place on your trip so far. Thank you so much for sharing.

Just WOW! So grateful you are sharing your adventures! Each time I finish a vid, I feel like I was along with you! You give so many amazing glimpses, besides the big ticket views.
Note to self - visit York again! We had our honeymoon there 45 yrs ago and have only been back once since which is pathetic since it's only a 3 hr drive ... but that's the way it usually goes with places right on your doorstep!
Beautiful York. Your itinerary has been fantastic. So lovely that you do these trips with your children. Much love to the entire family and can’t wait to see you living happily in your brick house ❤
I want to visit England !!! I found out on ancestry I am 75% English!!! My father served in England near and around London servicing air craft coming and going across the English Channel fighting the Germans. I adore Owls !!!! I adore history and all things old & quaint. Love your English travel vlog s.
Some of these antique shops are run by a group of collectors who show their items that are coded so that they know what proportion of sales go to which collector. Presumably, they will share the running costs.
I absolutely love England, we haven't visited the North, one day. In the meantime, watching your amazing tour will suffice. Have you read "Pillars of the Earth" by Ken Follett? It's an epic telling of building cathedrals. Long read but we'll worth it.
I love York! I really enjoyed seeing your tour of it. You guys were really assimilating with whole pie and pastie thing weren't you? 😂 Thanks for the video.
I can’t believe you were only an hour away from where I live. I live in County Durham. York minster cathedral is a wonderful cathedral. Our cathedral in county Durham is also a magnificent cathedral. My son studied for his PhD at Durham University in Music and his study room was right next to the cathedral up on the green, you could hear the music every day.
It was for gods eyes only thaits what they said when they built it😂
He’s such a handsome, well mannered young man. Has a great smile like his mom and dad! Andrew is one of the good guys💜
Is Andrew their biological child?
@@reginamcguire3454 Yes, he is.
Yes, they have 4 biological children.
That room full of stained glass is incredible
Cathedrals are one of my favorite things to see in Europe, especially in England and France. York is such a pretty place 😍
Lovely video. Your face was pure magic Megan when you were holding the owl!
Thank you for this. I smiled throughout. Megan, you seem deeply in sync with England, deeply at home. Just a wonderful video...."Megan pontificates on shutters"😂😂😂

My Grandfather was from York! I’m definitely putting this trip on my bucket list! That cathedral is something I have to experience! ❤
All your children are special but Andrew is just a whole different kind of special!! I’m glad he’s having a good time on his senior trip.
Exceptional video and what a great shot with you staring right into the owls eyes.❤
Six years!!! 😮😮. I first found your channel during the England months!! 😃♥️♥️ So much fun to see you back there, Andrew is such a gem.

i'm a fan of yours, greetings from switzerland.
I'm really fascinated on how you managed to put in the music at 10.08 on exactly the same tone as the organ was tuning!! Well done!
Yessss I noticed that as well :)
Me too!

what a great well rounded family you are and welcome to GB , shambles is an old name for a market place or an area where a market was

That antique store is a whole different era of antique than we are used to in America.
Thank you - loved it!
