- ESP8266 is the new WIFI platform for Internet Of Things. This module is unbelievably cheap & powerful.
ESP modules are available from ESP-1 to ESP12 .The GPIO pin count varies according to type.In this video ESP-01 module is used .This module can be used as an Access Point , as well as a Client.

Exactly, what I was looking for -- 2 way communication with ESP8266 using AT commands. Now, I can extend this for my home automation without using arduino or other boring stuffs.

i am having esp-12e module.i can able to send data to http server. As you described in the video.
but i want to send data to tcp ip server.
while using the command at+cipstart="tcp","server ip',"port number".
it is showing unlink.
i dono were i got struck.
please give some solution for this problem.....

Dear Mr. Saravanan, very good tutorial. you have mentioned that RST pin shuld be pulled high. At some other tutorial I read it shoud pulled low. Which one is correct? or in both cases it will reset and high low does not matter.

Excellent tutorial! If I may ask, how do you get PUTTY to automatically insert carriage return (CNTL-J) on entering? I have played with the settings and have googled for the solution. Some google responses said it can't be done; but then I see that you made it work. So how is this done? Thank you for the tutorial!

What if we send larger data instead of string? For example, pictures, can the MCU inside still process that fast? Or external flash should be add?

I continue to face the problem of not able to join the wi-fi network in my ESP 8266-01.
I am detailing the command sequence for your reference here:-
1. 9600 Baud rate gives garbage upon entry 115200 works OK.
2. All AT commands work OK upto AT+GMR . Gives firmware version as 0017090
3. AT+CIOBAUD? gives "ERROR"
4. AT+CWMODE? gives "3"
5. AT+CWLAP lists all access points
6. AT+CWJAP gives "no this fun"
7. AT+CIPMUX? gives "+CIPMUX:1" and then "OK"
8. AT+CIFSR=1,80 gives "no change ""
9. AT+CIFSR gives "ERROR"
10. AT+CIFSR? gives "no this fun"
Can you sense what is going wrong ?

i had faced one problem, i had opened the putty and selected the com port, after that nothing had shown in the screen, as per your instruction i had reset the esp8266 and came some garbage.
after that nothing , i cant even type the AT command not showing anything in the screen.

but phone connected to different wlan router ,that time tcp client not able to connect.

Sir, I have PC with ESP8266 on one side, and it should communicate to my FPGA board connected to another ESP8266 on another side. I want to send/receive data to my PC running putty from FPGA board. Like at point 11:24 in ur video, is it necessary to connect through channel 0. How it will be done in FPGA ?

ITS A 3.3V SYSTEM, BUT SIGNAL FROM USB PORT WILL BE OF 5V , WHY WE ARE NOT USING LEVEL SHIFTER WITH RX AND TX.?

I am looking for information on using the ESP8266 12 in P2P mode. What I am trying to do is operate a relay remotely, through a non internet connected router. Am I on the right track with this device? I am competent with connecting IO to power circuits, just not so much with P2P (point to point). The specs say that it is capable, just no info to use it.

I am a newbie in IoT stuff. I want to use Arduino IDE to program ESP8266 module. I have a good understanding of Arduino basic language. However, I need to understand Arduino IDE each and every command for ESP8266 wifi. Can you do a tutorial for that.
i directly connected my esp8266 with mega using 3.3v from mega and tx goes tx and rx is connected to rx, as soon as i power my auduino afer few seconds the blue led turns on and remains on. it did went of when i removed ch_pd from 3.3v. what is happining? for the same setup it was correctly working before, i have also tested few at commands but now the serial monitor remains blank .how to fix this?
please help.

Great tutorial thank you very much. I have managed to create a server and receive incoming connections from browser and send back responses, but only using a terminal. But I'm still trying to write an Arduino sketch that will automate this procedure without success. Have you managed to do that?

I am not able to configure my mobile hotspot with the Wi-Fi module and obtain an IP address. I am using moto G(2nd gen). My friend tried with another Moto phone and oter phones . All other phones were connected and we could obtain IP address. Kindly let me know if there is any specific method is there in Moto phones asap .
