Yes it is getting cold here during the night time so I wait until the early afternoon to ride. The cold temps hastened the demise of my battery in my Evo! It crapped out on me this afternoon. Ahh the joy of owning motorcycles. I've never given it much thought about changing out the fuel lines, but it does make sense. Thank you for that tip! I'll be doing that every year from now on! Looking forward to the Wednesday live edition. That is if I haven't already fallen asleep. Keep wrenching and riding and stay safe!
I just got home from Sumpter South Carolina unfortunately back in Maryland ( California east ). I would have loved to have had my shovel with me but I was there for a very dear friend’s funeral and didn’t feel like I should’ve been doing anything fun. Very sad weekend one of my granddad’s favorite saying was no one is guaranteed tomorrow and the older I get I realize what he was saying. I love S. Carolina great part of the country would be great to move there someday. You take care my friend and stay safe.
@buttcrackcycles According to my parts catalog for 1981, it comes in 2 parts. Your 83 might be the same. Seal #35151-52A and a Gasket for the Seal Retainer #35169-52.
I am in Maryland and we do get some real cold snaps. sometimes a few inches of snow. although this year might be real wet. This will be my first winter that my bike will need to stay outside. It will have a cover on it. My only question is? Should I purchase some of that spray like "muck off" to protect the bike? It will be sitting for about 3 months. I have watched many, many videos. If you have some real insight, I would welcome your input.
Genuinely don't know about that! I'll leave rough projects outside under a cover and under my lean to so they're double covered, but anything nice goes inside. Maybe ask around at a local shop and see what their suggestions are on the muck off etc, surely one of the guys in the shop has a bike he leaves outside through the cold months

I'd love to see you replace that mainshaft/sprocket seal. Thats going to be in my near future I'm afraid.
Whatever the fix is for the oil leak (and that's a likely culprit) I'll be sure to do a video on

When you change your primary chain oil..are you a engine oil same weight guy ..or a transmission fluid guy ..??
I just do 20-50 in it. The shovel will get ATF after it's isolated however

What are some specs to look for when getting a torque wrench(es) for this type of work? i.e. What drive? What torque range? Etc..
Buy three: 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2". I would want to cover everything from 5 inch lbs all the way to 200+ ft lbs. Don't buy cheap ones.
