Great info Eric!!!! Thank you brother!! I am building a Ls3 for my swap. I picked up a set of low milage 821 heads for $300. But now I have to buy new intake and exhaust valves because they were bare. That's OK. I'll get there.
Yeah. Eric. Your. Probably not. Superman but. Your. One. Of. The. Super men. Thats. Out. There oh. Yeah. U. Can. Say for. Sure. Your. A. Super dad. Thanks. For taking. Us. On. A. Basic. Ls 3. Porting. Trip. Uda man
Since LSA heads are basically identical to LS3's from what I understand, would you port them the same way? I'm running a ported factory supercharger at 15 pounds of boost and thinking about porting my heads following your guidelines. Awesome videos!
Eric is there a right way to fix valve seats that protrude into the combustion chamber when fully seated? im worried about spring installed height if i just cut deeper
Eric do you know much about DUCTILE IRON valve seats in aluminium heads, is it the same as the valve seats in a LS cylinder heads or are they a softer material.
That intake valve did NOT come in L92 head, it has the pink dot and is a hollow stem, a true LS3 Corvette or Camaro or Cadillac valve, about 89 grams vs 118 .
The LS3 head have 2 small "apexes" on the SSR, the factory did this to help turn the fuel, Darin Morgan talks about it at length in some of his videos. I ported a set of LS3 heads in a Cadillac, BTR stage 2 truck cam, gears, and a 3k converter. I had great flow numbers, but in the car until under 4K it was kinda wooden, then it would turn on like a scalded dog. Later I watched Darin's explanation and it made complete sense.
Beautiful work Eric.

Nice work Eric.
Good explanations on the porting process.
Thanks for sharing.
Happy 4th of July. 🇺🇸👍
This series is great thanks for the information. I’m hoping I can apply most of this to a pair of blueprint engines ls3 heads.
Thank you sir for sharing your knowledge
I noticed u took the hump out on the exhaust side where you said the spring pocket is on the intake side. So it's safe to smooth it on exhaust side?
Eric approx. How much extra pwr. Does this type of porting adds? Great job as allway !
That's pretty cool man I kinda wonder is it possible de shroud the valve more on the chamber so it doesn't back up as bad or will that not work
How much HP would you say these heads are worth? On a medium sized cammed ls3 on 93

Dang he's good. Look at that short side people

Cut deeper.

Depends on which stock Ls head and year of production. There are also different material makeups of ductile iron. Some soft and some hard.
Pretty damn good, only judging by the way light reflects.

It did because they came out of set I ordered from summit.
Cutting the double radius out of the short side kills LS3 engines below 4k rpm. You can get amazing flow for a pure race engine if you do, but....
Do you have dyno evidence of that? I have never heard that and I’m not sure what you mean by double radius.

I have some ls3 port cutaway photos I could share it's easier to see, and once you do, you can unsee it.
