    Thanks Timmy - Well presented as always! Gonna go with the steel bracket one...
    Update: Got the PanaVise installed, and was going to get all the Ram mount stuff but decided to simply attach a magnet to the bracket instead. Seems to hold just fine and in perfect line of sight.

    I want to say thank you Tim. I followed your lead and installed the Ram mount ball on the A pilar of my 99 T4R. You make it look easy. I had trouble and stripped out the screw head because, like a dummy, I forgot to use my impact screw driver, so I had to drill out the screw. I forgot the 6P's, Proper Preparations Prevents Piss Poor Performance. Thanks again for all you and Sean put out there on RUclips

    The single best mod I've ever done to my 3rd gen was a double-din Pioneer stereo. Mine is the older version of the Pioneer AVH-X4800BS and it literally gave my 4runner new life. It automatically pairs up to my phone within seconds of starting the truck, comes with a hands-free mic that hides anywhere you want and it can be set to automatically pick up incoming calls and hangup on call completion. I rarely even look at my phone when driving my truck. It will even read and let you hands-free respond to texts. It has built in compatibility for a back-up camera and with a little $5 micro switch mod you can use the DVD player while the truck is moving (for the passengers only of course :D ) Also comes with a Pandora app and is one of the most flexible systems I've ever used for music. It can read off a USB, CD, IPOD/Phone, etc., and you can control song choice from the phone/ipod or the radio's buttons. Also has a remote when you're out camping or tailgating. Literally the only CON is losing that little plastic cubby below the single-din aftermarket radios. You've got to check it out T-T-T!

Durango, Crested Butte, Winter Park, Vail, Boulder, Salida, Telluride, Grand Junction, Fruita, Gunnison, and Monarch. I could see myself living in Colorado. Im Sure the casing popped open a little, was scared to glue it very well, being the first one I did and all. For a simple site check out squarespace or even GoDaddy as they have good simple tools to use. If you did do a user gallery just have people email you the photos and you can make sure they are reduced MB size before posting. Timmy, when you mount the phone on the a-pillar, where you have, how much blind spot does it create when you look left through the windshield?

    • @TimmyTheToolman
      @TimmyTheToolman  5 лет назад +1

      Hey Andy, this is a great question. It doesn't create a blind spot for me. If I thought it would lessen my ability to see traffic coming or see hazards, I wouldn't use it. I suppose it's reduced my view a tiny bit in that bottom left corner of the windshield but not enough to give me concern.

    • @TimmyTheToolman
      @TimmyTheToolman  2 года назад +1

      Depending on how heavy the iPad is, the tan mount allows you to tighten the clamp onto the ball more, so it’s hard to say definitively that this setup will be flawless for your application.

    Neither of these two options works for me: A-Pillar mount is on my left and I am right handed so can't operate the phone (Navigation App) on the left side. The other mount is to low for my comfort for the same reason you mentioned at the beginning of the video - when I look down at the phone the road disappear from my peripheral view.
    I found ProClip USA has vent mount for 3rg gen 4Runner (I used same type in 5th gen 4Runner and Nissan Versa Note) that places the phone view directly below the edge of the windshield. Vent mount has a huge advantage in California: keeps your phone cool even when running Navigation App (that app makes the phone as hot as baked potato). Pictures here: rysium.com/rysium.forum/4runner/4Runner-proclipusa-01.jpg, rysium.com/rysium.forum/4runner/4Runner-proclipusa-04.jpg
    I wish they made the same kind mount that would work with my 1st gen Tacoma (My Tacoma has cup holder under the vent).
    (not affiliated with them, just happy customer).

    • @TimmyTheToolman
      @TimmyTheToolman  5 лет назад

      I'm not left-handed either but have no problem operating the phone on the A-pillar. I hear you on the stereo bezel mount not being at a spot that allows you to view it and still keep your eyes on the road. I prefer the A-pillar mount but didn't have that option for my 98. I personally don't like the vent mounts due to the chance of breaking the plastic vent. My 98 had a broken middle vent and I assume that was due to the previous owner using one of the phone vent mounts.

    • @RysiuMal
      @RysiuMal 5 лет назад

      @Timmy The Toolman: actually Pro Clip USA vent mount does not clip to vent like cheap Amazon stuff. In ProClip USA it grabs the vent frame. The vent is fully operational with all fins moving freely. This is very clever design. You know me that I would not accept "half baked " solution. Check my picture from 5th gen 4Runner. rysium.com/rysium.forum/4runner/4Runner-proclipusa-02.jpg
      One more their phone mount does not interfere with my Samsung S5 buttons :-). They really know what they are doing.
