You need the ultimate endurance for soccer at that competitive level. To do what Messi does with such acceleration and control with his feet and cut his speed at will is literally a dream to most professional soccer players. Basketball there is skills but soccer with those skills like Messi it's like combining Steph with Lebron or Koby.

It's really really hard to shoot the ball and hit the net or be accurate with it when youre sprinting, especially when youre sprinting at the rate messi is. Usuaully for a controlled shot you want the ball to be rolling as little as possible.
