what the hell!! why don't they do stuff like this anymore this didn't feel like the oscars at all.this was fun, maybe the calmed down because the show this year didn't get good reviews. But this is the kind of stuff nowadays people would love at a show of this caliber
Wish the Oscars were still like this. Instead of the stuffy boring thing they have become. Imagine also, winning and actually getting to finish your speech without being played off because its longer than 5 seconds.
This was amazing, i didn't know it existed until i found it just now in jan 2022. in 1988 i was 9 years old, i would have very much enjoyed it at the time but i still enjoy it just as much today, two of my favorite things from the 80's pee wee herman and robocop. this was back when the oscars were cool, i watched the oscars every year from around 98 till a few years ago when they became unwatchable, instead of cool stuff from hit movies now the academy awards are too worried about calling everyone racist. bring back the 80's and 90's please.
@@markelijio6012 , well, in hindsight, it did deserve that award. But the fact that it didn’t get a nomination for its visual effects is what I find very ridiculous.
Things like this, and his appearances in Robocop 2 and 3, is why no one takes ED-209 seriously. R.I.P. dignity of the machine that turned that one guy into blood gravy.
Let's be honest, Ed-209 WAS ALWAYS meant to be a joke. He dies to stairs in the first film ffs, and malfunctions everytime he has ever appeared. He's meant to be a joke on purpose. I love it.
@@Krystalmyth Yep. ED 209 was supposed to be a parody of big budgeted poorly designed malfunctioning but nobody important seems to notice or care military projects
`Pee wii is flying and robocop saves him in a shootout ? ... ye .. I would like to believe you but it sounds utterly ridiculous ... `Heres the clip `Well ... I saw everything now
This was hilarious and amazing, the presence of pee-wee made it better, loved it! As a big robocop and peewee fan, it mixed very well. This was the 80s!
It was live TV. The Robocop actor was looking at a marker on a monitor and gtrying to align his weapon with the marks. There were 3 laser shots animated previously and overimposed on the video. When he sort of hit the mark they would play the animation and activate a blast on the stage.
I have the memory being a child and watching this. My nostalgia memory was so wrong. I remember a flawless execution, comedy and effects. But i imagine it works... for something: That 8 year old boy was, from that moment, desperate to see an R rated movie and a future pervert. Thanks Hollywood.
Pee-Wee Herman was saved by Robocop so he could give an Oscar to Ray's Male Heterosexual Dance Hall. What a time to be alive
talk about crossover. only at the Oscars.
completely, absolutely, utterly, ridiculous.
i love it.
that's the 80's
My fondest memory of Paul Reubens as Pee Wee Herman. R.I.P., Paul.
@@mikebasil4832 paul ruebens was an icon, rip to the greatest member of my childhood heros
I was a kid (and loved Robocop) when this happened, and yet never saw it or heard of it!
I'm glad it's preserved now.
No one believed me that this happened. Thank you RUclips (and I suppose The Oscars too) for proving me correct!
I still don't believe you.
@@Jeremy-ql1or would you believe that RoboCop briefly took part in wrestling - even saved Sting from a cage at one point? LOL
RoboCop and Pee Wee Herman, the crossover we never knew we needed.
R.I.P. Paul Reubens
He was a kiddie diddler. Fuck him. Hope he's in Hell.

They should anytime .
you didnt see the chris rock slap. that was so damn staged.
This is Gold! Pee-wee and Robocop in Oscar is the best! Never saw this before but is amazing!!!😆😆🤣🤣🤩🤩👏👏🙌🙌💯💯
Pee Wee Herman and RoboCop.. what a time to be alive.
those laser effects are cutting edge
Eric Janvier in the 80s they were
Better than CGI
Why am I just now hearing about this. Too cool!
Wish the Oscars were still like this. Instead of the stuffy boring thing they have become. Imagine also, winning and actually getting to finish your speech without being played off because its longer than 5 seconds.
RoboCop is a sharpshooter he shouldn't miss the first time, but it's the Oscars.
Dany Rockwell even if he wasn’t a sharpshooter, ED209 is huge, I could shoot that thing if I used my left foot
He was using his left hand when he's right handed...
I have never experienced anything so incredibly suspenseful and dramatic as RoboCop missing twice with his laser gun.
Robocop got his gun training at Stormtrooper Academy...
This was amazing, i didn't know it existed until i found it just now in jan 2022.

This seemed more fun then we have today
I have been looking for this clip for a very long time. Finally someone posted it. Thank you!
i'd buy that for a $
GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Even for a million, trillion, zillion dollars.
How did Peewee not freak out hanging up that high? Guy's a pro.
Even Peewee was a Alpha
I remember seeing this live on TV, was very impressive.
Honestly, the fact that this movie didn't get nominated for Visual Effect or Original Score is ridiculous.
To make matters worse, "RoboCop" was nominated for two Oscars and won an Speciak
Achievement Award for Sound Effects Editing in 1988.

RIP Pee Wee Herman
RoboCop's aim is slightly better than Stormtroopers from the Galactic Empire's Grand Army. lol

how does he start flying for no reason lmao
Adrian Pale It's Pee-Wee Herman deep lore.
Propelled by the ED-209 bullets.
RoboCop missing twice is the most unrealistic thing about this scenario.
Oscars used to have creativity and fun for the whole family but hey, at least we have live slappings now
Only in the 80s and 90s awesome shit like this can happen :)
1988 to be exact
80s and 90s..the best
Rest in peace Paul Reubens aka pee wee
Did they seriously just DRAW Robocop's laser blasts over the footage? SERIOUSLY?!!
It was live TV. The Robocop actor was looking at a marker on a monitor and gtrying to align his weapon with the marks. There were 3 laser shots animated previously and overimposed on the video. When he sort of hit the mark they would play the animation and activate a blast on the stage.
@@ricarleite great job of the actor and crew.
At least RoboCop had the time to step in, save Pee-wee and the day compared to The Terminator.
Remember when the Oscars used to not suck?
I had no idea about this untill I saw the movies that made us episode of RoboCop . Crazy
This is so incredible to me.
this is the best collab i have ever seen
Why the hell did robocop have a laser gun anyway?! Lol
Possibly because someone thought the actual Robocop handgun might cause someone to panic.
-Maybe because you can't stop OCP's Enforcement Droid -209 with your pathetic ordinary handgun?! Did you even see the movie?
Why was Robocop left handed? Was he left handed in the movies?
Who was bought here by ITVs 2024 Oscar coverage?
the highlite of the show
Thanks, Officer Murphy!
The best era of them all!
That would have been f*cked up if ED-209 had live ammo like the scene from the movie.
Except the lady from Goonies, I don't think it would be much of a loss. Hell, it might have saved humanity
Awesome! Thanks for sharing :)
I kept thinking that the name of the winning film was "Ray's Homosexual Dance Hall"
“Heterosexual.”
As a lifetime fan of Robocop I've been waiting 30 years to find this because I missed it originally. This was lame even for that time period.
I love it 😅
Boy, was ED-209 pissed at not getting that Oscar. What a grouch!
...Could the Oscars be like this again please?
This is kind of like a fancier version of a Universal Studios stage show.
Legendary. They sure don't make the Oscars like that anymore. They probably spent weeks rehearsing this segment.
God bless RUclips! When movies were great!
totally cool!
I love Pee-Wee!
I wish somebody could recreate the Robocop theme used during this awards show.
...and the award for Special Defects goes to.... this clip
Robocop rogue city brought me here
Wow...unbelievable...
I'm starting to think the producers just wanted an excuse to hear Pee Wee Herman say the title: Ray's Male Heterosexual Dance Hall.
Bizarre, Bizarre and excelent
Wtf? Why was PeeWee flying???
How has this never been a meme.
On Cinema anyone??
Imagine if Robocop was the one to deliver the envelope in advance!
Robocop should have gotten ED-209 with one hit with that laser.
This is the most nerdy moment at the Oscars ever
This was cheesy but still has to be the best Oscar ever!! Now we got grown men slapping comedians for being a comedian SMH 🤦♂️
Love this!
Am I the only one noticing Ed 209's Vulcan cannon guns being upside down?
What kind of fever dream did I just watch?
This guy is way funnier than Jim Parsons.
Wow, I never thought this would happen. Way cool
was paul at the oscars any other times? or just this time n his sad memorial mention
looks like my kids kindergarten farewell party
The Oscars should start making their own movies!
Never once address how or why Peewee can suddenly fly 😂
My brother told me about this when we were kids and I thought he was just making sh!t up. Who knew...
Why does Robocop have a blaster?
The real good ol' days.
Back when the Oscars still had dignity and a sense of prestige, and weren't about promoting one's political agenda.
Robocop 2022.
When Hollywood used to be Hollywood focused on entertainment instead of useless political correctness stunts 🤷🏻♂️
Is Robocop aiming technology made by a stormtrooper
The theme at the end tho
I see his Schwartz is as big as mine, wrong movie
O_O How come I have never heard of this?!?
i know right! this is so EPIC!
... Wait a second, Pee Wee can't fly!
My first thought watching this 2023 was: is this real or made with AI?

My parents let me watch Rated R movies all the time. c:
Imagine of ED209 had real bullets loaded lol
What the hell?! The Oscars used to be fun and entertaining like this?!
Omg that was funny
One of the best Oscar moments ever. But Robocop is a terrible shot
Two Best Friends Play brought me here. Who else?

Robocop saved pee wee the 80s
When movies were fun.....
HAHAHA Very funny! :D I love these Oscar moments!
Robocop is frighteningly realistic though. When the technology is ready expect these things to be walking the streets.
So happy that the director of the new Robocop movie is José Padilha, one of the best directors ever. The brasilian behind The Elite Squad.
I forgot about this.
