We get in such a hurry to get our daily duties done and praying that those work hours pass by quickly that we forget that those are hoursof our life going by. We often don't realize that the people we work with are like a second family and an extension of our lives.
Retirees from my company meet monthly at a local restaurant to reminisce, touch base with one another, and enjoy breakfast.
The present political atmosphere may end up robbing me of my retirement. I have about 7.5 years to go. There is a definite threat; but I am blessed, nonetheless!
    Itchy, RHDF!!!

I retired in 2022 after working 42 years for the same company. Had a few visit's from former colleagues until now, but it's normal that people forget you ever worked at that company.
Life is going on, so don't make big deal out of it, and enjoy retirement.

I’m so glad to hear how much you are enjoying your fiber optic internet. I’m in a fairly rural area and didn’t get true high speed internet until fairly recently and while it might sound silly to some folks, I absolutely get it.
Keep doing your thing friend, you are my spirit animal ❤

Mark I am also retired but on the younger side 62. Live in a small community so always running into people I know. but I keep busy with the older widows needing fix it jobs done and mowing for them when the season starts or changing the occasional flat tire for them. Also, single but acting as caretaker to my 2nd ex-wife who now lives with me after her suicide attempt in 2017 at which point we had been apart for 8 years. Sorry went down a rabbit hole.

I had an engine shop . Let the bums bring their bikes , engine , cars into my shop and work on their junk free of charge . They would take hardware and lube and offer a dime in payment . Forty years later they won't even speak to me .
I was raised in a disfunctional family . Dad was a WWII blinded vet ,vwith a lot of problems . Maternal parent , I don't know what was wrong with her . I was put out on the street , brought up by teenage boys in the neighborhood . So I'm very different from most people . My only friends in life were horses and dogs . Been alone really all my life , so old age ain't no different . Humans don't know loyalty .

Yes when one retires it took about 6-8 months to just learn to relax and do what I wanted, then set -up a plan of things I could now do without worrying about time lol, and when it comes to coworkers I they were my 2nd family we all knew what it took to do the job and still have fun at it , I ran across a picture of a crew that I worked with and posted it on my Facebook some have passed but the remaining all left comments on how well we got along even on bad days, I have been the boss or leader at most my jobs and for the most part I worked with my crew and did the paper work after they went home I like to stay busy, a lot of them still contact me and say I was the best boss they ever had I guess I understand we are all human and have good and bad days , but what drives me nuts is winter months for me to heat my shop would cost a small fortune so I set and plan for warm weather so I can get back at it lol, but this year after I put a new roof on my house I plan to get on my bike and just ride to where ever the road takes me, what do I have to loose life is short so enjoy the good times while we can, be safe and keep the rubber on the ground, P.S. garden season starting up doing raised beds this year dont like bending over lol

MARK., I got a kick out of your wall display in your upstairs office. By that I mean you have both an INDIAN motorcycle plaque and a Harley Davidson plaque as well. I congratulate you. It's no surprise though that your HD is above the Indian plaque. 🤣. HEY., You struck a cord in me too as you talked about the guys you worked with for years & years. Funny thing about the many body shops I worked in & the workers/craftsmen in many of them. There was often a shifting of these bodymen from one shop to another every few months/years/ or even weeks for one reason or another. So we'd know practically all of them in town. There's one guy I worked with for about 7 or 8 years who calls me Fall & Spring as he's heading to Florida or getting back home from there. We sit for coffee for a couple of hours to catch up. That is nice even if it is only one out of dozens of these guys. Several have passed away being well into their 70's & 80's. We're all getting on in years so these times to riminess is a sort of comfort., you know what I mean. Well I've got the same dreary, cloudy, rainy weather you have now. I'm checking the weather reports daily, like never before. Why? To see if I can get a few hours Riding time in before rain showers come my way. I've been lucky so far on that front since seldom do I get really wet, as I scan the sky for clouds, working out in my head if I can skedaddle back to the barn in time. Retirement, well it has its benefits. Don't have a boss telling me this or that, good or bad. Now it's my time. Good to hear you express that you're trying to make the best of your situation too. Remember, it's our reaching out to keep in touch with friends old & new that can make things happen. Am continuing to enjoy your videos with your heartfelt, down to earth comments. Keep it up, because you are cheering us on. We all need it don't we. Thanx Much. .

I recently retired after 30 plus years on an urban PD here in North Jersey. Our department is over 400 strong and as they years passed I knew less and less people. It got to wear you only knew the people in you division or Squad, because they were the only people you dealt with. Add to that being at the command level, the guys in the "trenches" kept you at an arms length. Division Commanders didn't fit in with the workers when off duty. There were obviously exceptions to this, but by the time retirement comes around you're easily forgotten so to speak. Luckily for me most off my academy mates keep in touch for the most part. Some more than others, LOL. It's still nice to be retired. Alot less stressful for sure. Keep on keepin on. My prayers are with you. Be safe.
    RHDF.

The last place I worked at I was there 24 yrs. I keep in touch with 1 guy from there. A few times a yr we get together and ride. He kept telling me that the head honchos wanted me back and I could come back anytime. I kept telling him don't hold your breath. He's pretty much the only guy I did anything with out side of work. It's been four yrs next month since I left. Yes. I could go there and visit and say hi to my coworkers (the ones who are left). But what do I say? How's work? I know what their answer will be. The same answer they gave when I worked there. "I hate this place. They don't treat me well." So I stay away because I don't want to hear their cussing and complaining. Here's an idea for a road trip. You should check out the old Mansfield prison. It's really cool. They filmed a few movies there.
