  • The Mok family martial art is one of the five famous Guangdong boxing styles. It has a history of nearly 300 years.
    The technique originated from Qiaotou Town, south China’s Guangdong Province. In the 1930s and 1940s, there was frequent unrest, and the villagers learned martial arts to defend themselves.
    In 2009, Mok family martial art was named as an intangible cultural heritage in Guangdong Province, and the local government started to promote it.

    Almost as interesting as his kung fu is his village-accented Cantonese which I can mostly understand. He lives the sort of life that my grandfather lived in San Tin Hong Kong as a farmer. Ppl always argue about whether King fu is practical, but actually it's like a very simple story. No matter what style you practise, you always have to build your body accordingly like an athlete. See those fake King fu masters with big belly, how can you expect that he can defend himselves

      @amang1001 4 года назад

      Credit where credit is due for 78 years he is in great shape but what makes traditional kung fu an effective self defense style? Every video of a fight I've seen where kungfu goes up against other foreign martial art, kungfu practitioners can't compete. The exception to this rule is Sanda. Traditional kung fu looks cool but not sure i would trust my life to it.

    • @Kungfuwales
      @Kungfuwales 4 года назад +1

      I agree with you to a point. However training and fighting in competition should not be confused training for self defence and character development. Much depends on the individual applying the techniques. Unfortunately unlike mok gar kune some Kung fu styles do not train enough for physical fitness and strength and so lack power. This reduces the effectiveness of any style from any style.

    never studied this style. but i didnt start my martal arts journey till i was 10 and started karate classes but never made it past yellow belt. i have been intrested in kungfu for a min. only style i studied and got my 1st dan in was chinese kenpo parker system. took me 4 years to get my black belt. and years later when i was 23 a neighbor that use to live below me when i lived in utah years ago was teaching me rapid assault tactics we studied it for 3 years. and he also taught me bits and pieces of aikido. and now i live in alaska and im 39 yo and have searched out all the martal arts i can find here in wasilla. and have found the only ones that have sparked a interest were 1. seibukan jujutsu. 2. krav maga. and 3 id have to commute to anchorage to study. and that one is shoshin ryu. but for now out of krav maga vs seibukan jujutsu. i desided to do seibukan jujutsu and work for 4 to 5 years and get my black and see how for they will let me go. and after they ran out of stuff for me to learn. id move over into krav maga. and work on my black in that as well. and go as far as they will let me. and then drive 30 miles 3 times a week and do shoshin ryu. untill they have nothing to train me in then move to cali. and study muay thai. bjj. panantukan. and finish up with white tiger kung fu.

      Rnld Lee no. A lot of Southern Shaolin Kung has either been lost unfortunately, or never passes on because of money and technology took over. So majority of ChInese millennials are told to be doctors, nurses or make any six figure income so that all went away. A lot of the Southern Kung Fu have all influenced each other. Choy Ley Fut does look familiar to Mok Fist but so does Hung Kuen, Fut Ga, Hung Ga, Hung Fut and Hakka Kuen. All have very similar stances. Only differences is Wing Chun. Maybe few of the blocks and strikes are similar but I see some Daoist elements of Tai Chin in Wing Chun too.

    Well I'm glad to see this video... And I'm glad to see that you are continuing to respect your traditions... And continuing to train.
    I would also like to give you a little advice to try to improve the power of your punches. From what I see you have no idea the danger that you are presenting to yourself the way that you hold your fist. And therefore you are losing tremendous power the way that you are making a fist... It is totally wrong!
    You would be toast in a fight with a ninja ( at least one who knows what I know about a fist.) And admittedly there are many who have not trained properly and don't know this fact irregardless of their martial art. Keeping the thumb on the outside of the fist is insane... Wastes power and presents opportunities to any person to hit it or grasp it and use it to control you by pain compliance!
    The thumb should be on top of the fist pack.
    And if the fist pack is not done properly the fingers will be loose instead of being firm and solid like a Stone.
    Holding the fist with the thumb on top gives the fist a rapid change into various fist positions for other types of strike other than just a straight punch. It also creates a stone instead of a mushy flesh bag. The thumb should be pressed down on top of the fingers simply doing this exercise will prove my point. look watch your hand as you look at the hand facing the palm and make a fist but curl the fingers in tight so they are curled as much as they can possibly be and dig them into the crevice of the Palm and then lay your thumb as it would lay naturally on top of that fist pack not in front of it where it is useless and can be easily damaged by a missed blow and your thumb impacting a jaw bone or a cheekbone or a shoulder or a rib or some object between you and the target and then push down with that thumb on the fist pack and you will see how tight and strong your fist becomes now it is a weapon before it was a joke. My goal is to not criticize but to improve so that you will be just a little bit safer. also you are rotating the arm in as you punch instead of rotating the fist and your rotation begins much too soon that is a waste of power it should not rotate until the blow has impacted the target doing that this way you are truly using hungar properly and your blow will penetrate the target much more effectively and deeper sending the chi into do deep cavity strikes and crush bones and cause the bones to enter the various organs of the body and shred them. Again my advice is simply to keep you safer... Which is simply living our motto of ninjutsu. ruclips.net/video/F3fuNVeUj2M/видео.html

    How come I did not practice martial arts for 32 years instead pf being forced, experimented on, and coerced to take toxic, chemical pills and injections from age 19 to 51? Because I had a variety of illnesses, both physical and other mental, and disabilities from accidents in preschool and childhood. And was poor, uneducated, unloved, and despondent.

    The young Hong kong protestors should learn this martial to defend themselves when attacked by the Big bullies of the Police force

    • @Ironfangzu
      @Ironfangzu 4 года назад +3

      The young terrorists have fire bombs, lasers, bricks and metal poles which they are 'bravely" using to attack any common citizens that they outnumber. When they meet anyone who can fight them, they run like the cockroaches they are. Bullies? The police? Don't make me laugh. the police are not the ones tearing down rail stations and firebombing stores and police barracks. The "protesters" don't need martial arts. They are the biggest cowards and bullies on the planet. With their masks on, they act tough and fearless. Once you rip their masks off, they whimper and cry like the scared little boys they are. "阿 Sir! 不要拉我! 我妈会骂我的!!“

    I'm getting super skeptical nowadays with all these Kung Fu styles after witnessing time and time again MMA challenged kung Fu experts fight matches on RUclips where the Kung Fu experts are being beat down, knock out all over the place. And if these fake Kung Fu masters were being exposed, then WHERE AND WHY AREN'T THE REAL MASTERS TO COME FORTH TO SHOW THE WORLD THAT KUNG FU CAN BEAT THESE MMA FIGHTS?? It seems very clear that Kung Fu are NOT AT ALL A PRACTICAL FIGHTING ART but just MADE FOR MOVIES and with impressive acrobatic flips jumps spins all for shows but in real fights. Same with the Korean Taekwondo with their impressive high kicks jumps spin kicks are all for show but in real fights with Muy Thai the Taekwondo fighters kept landed on their asses with their legs taken out under them while they do the kicks and spinning craps. Also NOT PRACTICAL, just imagine a 50 or so Korean old person with some joints issues and trying to do these high jump kicks, flips and spins?? FORGET ABOUT IT!! They will likely to fall violently and DIED!!
