Yeah that's the complicated part - it's all about just slowly adding and removing elements to create suspense and also small little textures and effects to keep the track changing and moving
There is a big difference between house and EDM, and Europeans, especially British people should definitely know this unless they’ve been influenced by young “producers” who are influenced by American “producers”
There’s tonnes of different sub genres of house, there’s bass house, future house, tech house. This track is without a doubt a house track. Also EDM is simply an umbrella term for any electronic music, such as house, techno, dnb, garage etc etc.
@ the beat is definitely house but the melody is EDM, it seems Americans now use the term EDM for what used to be the umbrella term for house, ask anyone over 30 and they’ll say there was no such term as EDM until younger DJs used it to describe any music they play at a festival or club. It’s weird how everyone has started copying Americans with that term, a speed garage, hip hop, funk, etc producer in Europe wouldn’t call their music EDM, from what I’ve heard they get quite insulted as EDM usually means a clueless kid in his bedroom pressing a few buttons bragging the computer fixes everything. Ps nice channel, I’ll subscribe for some tips 👍🏾
@ that’s not how it works. EDM is the genre, house is the sub genre. That’s like saying LeBron James isn’t a basketball player, he’s a sports player. I guess the term EDM never existed back in the day because it never needed to, since there weren’t many different styles of electronic music. I imagine EDM was created to put together newer styles like jungle, dnb, garage etc
@ I kind of see what you’re saying but it was all called house music as it started of as one genre, then it split into different styles that got new names like garage, techno, trance etc but the umbrella term was house. It’s just younger Americans suddenly decided to call it EDM about 10 years ago and for someone reason Europeans have copied it. I don’t tell people I like EDM coz they assume it’s the really tacky commercial stuff that a lot of younger people like. I suppose what I like id call house and you’d probably call it old school, vocal house or US garage as people even have different views one what they are I’m sure in a few years EDM will be a specific style and someone will have a new name for it all 😂 You should a video on all the different styles and watch the comment section explode seeing if everyone agrees with each other
@ that’s the issue though, is that there’s no clear distinction these days. You should see the comments on my phonk video, I have like 30 comments saying the track is all different genres 🤣

A simple search on Google shows: "Key Characteristics of House Music Beat and Rhythm: A steady, consistent 4/4 time signature with a prominent bass drum ("kick") on every beat. Hi-hats and claps/snaps emphasize the rhythm, creating an infectious groove. Instrumentation: Synthesizers, drum machines (e.g., Roland TR-808, TR-909), and samplers are core to its sound. Basslines are funky and often repetitive, contributing to the hypnotic feel. Tempo: Typically ranges from 115 to 130 beats per minute (BPM). Vocals: Vocals are common, often sampled or featuring soulful singers. Lyrics may center on love, empowerment, or dancefloor euphoria. Structure: Songs build gradually, layering elements and often featuring breakdowns where the beat temporarily drops out, creating anticipation. Origins" Whilst it may not be the typical traditional house music that you're used to listening to, it absolutely is a form of house music. I would say this specific track fits the house subgenres "Bass House" or "Future House".

WITHOUT HE 10 HOURS OF processing... GOOD BEAT THO
How do you find good instruments???
Either learn sound design or invest into some good plugins with high quality presets like Omnisphere, Analog Lab etc.
DONT get omnisphere or analog lab if you are creating EDM, get something else like nexus and sylenth1.
