I am so grateful to hear your concern for young people's futures. I believe that most older people feel the same way that you do but rarely stand up and offer their guidance. Thank you.
Good advise to the teenagers! I would like to add that parents also have an important in role in showing their children how to work at home, like cutting the grass, etc.
I am 22 and I agree with a lot of this. I did not make money as a kid and have very little work experience now. I am a seasonal worker and college student. I felt pressured into a 4 year degree when I did not know what I wanted to do, I needed more time and still do. People ask "What would you like to do?" and to me that question is flawed because I would know what I would like to do if I had tried it before! One note on the toys/cars, do not buy ANYTHING brand new because it depreciates(loses lots of value) very quickly. I took out a partial loan to build credit and bought a nice snowmachine used because I got a good deal and know I can get my money back when I sell it, that being said it is a toy. I don't understand friends/old classmates who are just finishing college and immediately buying brand new vehicles. I guess if they have a nice job with good salary they can buy what they want.
Thanks for your comment. Your classmates probably got a job and bought a new vehicle because they figure they can afford the payments. Next thing you know they have so many monthly payments that they live paycheque to paycheque. I can’t imagine how stressful that must be to live like that. You get a bad flue, miss one week of work and your screwed.
Super advice! I wish every young person would live by those words. My son was lucky enough to take one of Dave Ramsey's classes in high school. Along with the financial lessons that my husband and I tought him, he also got Ramsey's lessons. At 16, he got his first job and started a 401K account. At 22 yrs old, he bought his first house. We are so proud of him! I wish that when my husband and I started our young lives together we had half of the knowledge that our son has. Unfortunately, we had to learn the hard way. I loved it when you said, "Just because someone seems happy, doesn't mean they're happier than you." Isn't that the truth! That's something every man, women and child needs to hear and learn! Thank you for sharing your wisdom 👍😊❤️
Living below your means is very important and never ever pay interest on a credit card - if you can't afford to pay for something right now, don't buy it.

Technology is destroying the residential trades! Plain and simple! I’ve seen my trade just go down hill fast!!! Most younger kids have no work ethic anymore. They want everything in an instant! I’ve been building homes for 30 years now and things have really changed with the work force. Kinda sad really!
@@saltboxwoodworks it wasn’t a scientific pole or anything like that. It’s just what I’ve witnessed where I’m at. We’ve gone through probably a dozen or more kids in the last 3-4 years trying to get younger people to learn a trade. It’s just not what they want to do, at least over in my area. I see many other job sites as well and it’s rare to see younger kids working on them. When I do, I make it a point now to try and talk with them to get their thoughts on the trade and future plans. But there’s no doubt, in my area, the youth just isn’t interested.
Move to the US, make a bunch of money, move back to Canada. Just added 20% to your wealth. Go buy a boat that does 80 km, quad, corvette and an ice shanty! Oh Canada-eh... love the effort and the wanting to help, but unless you were just trying to give little mr. business tycoon an atta-boy, or as punishment a parent makes their kid watch, I’m probably youngest person who watched this video. And I’m 47! I’m just havin fun and bustin balls over here. Keep up that effort and keep the good videos comin.
This channel is more than just woodworking...pond digging, wild turkeys, sharpening, etc! Subscribe and follow along for some variety and interesting videos.

Right on!
Glad to see you making videos again!!!!
Ps...you turned out great, never mind ok!!!
Thanks Linda!
Great advice! You should do a video on running a successful business. Advice, looking back on your experience, and pitfalls you encountered.
Yes will eventually do a video on that in the near future. Thank You

Yes absolutely right. No work ethics and want everything in an instant.
“Most” is a big word... where did you get your data from in order to quantify “most” young people ?

It’s the same over here also. Tradesmen who have there own business are having a really hard time finding young employees.

Do teenagers respond to a teaser line like “Teenagers, Listen Up!” ??
