FYI, real Native American wendigos don't have antlers on their head. Hollywood added those in for some dumb reason. Just in case you run into something, so you can properly identify it 😁😁
@Ooh_PieceOfCandy I always wondered what the antlers were all about and why some didn't have them. They're terrifying enough as it is. Thanks for the info.
Makes sense. A man whose brother became a wendigo slew him in a wrestling match. Another slayed on by clubbing a starving wendigo to death, while another buried an axe into its back. Wendigos are more like crackheads that supernatural beings.
I must say that this was a VERY good episode. I've been subscribed to this channel for a while and some episodes intrigue me more than others, I live in the foothills of East Tennessee and my wife and I were homeless for about a year in 2021-2022. Of course being Tennesseans we made camp in the woods, and many times we experienced and heard things we still are unable to explain. There truly are things in this world that man just can't explain or honestly understand, but I will say that what we saw and experienced felt way more supernatural than physical.
doubt highly but sure. If you were actually homeless and lived in the woods you weren't familiar with local wildlife and thus why you think what you think meanwhile it was birds felids and ungulates with a dab of the most dangerous things on the planet - humans.
The hunt for the references is fun.. but man, is it really making me appreciate your artist even more. Been a fan for a long time , but the attention to detail is very impressive. Kudos.
This is why I adore this channel. This is the only one that does the research and get things right. Real Native American wendigos don't have antlers as described the majority of the time. The descriptions in these stories are completely accurate. Hollywood created their own "scarier" version of Wendigos which is what is most widely known of today. This channel is a rare gem ❤❤
I always wanted a movie about Jason Voorhees battling a Wendigo. Two supernatural monsters with insatiable bloodlusts clash for supremacy over Camp Crystal Lake!
Thank you guys! My daughter was born on Halloween 2 years ago, and on the night she was brought into this world, and on this night every year since, we’ve made it a tradition to gather around and watch Bedtime stories together. Appreciate the work you guys put into educating us!
@@crazysilly2914 originally, we tried for months and months in advance to no avail. And as soon as we stopped purposefully aiming for a child, my wife became pregnant! Pretty cool that she was born on Halloween too.
I had read stories about Wendigos. A wendigo is an evil spirit being. And a tribal shaman, or a group of shamen, would work together, to capture a wendigo, and attach it to a location or an object even. And the entire purpose of this was to produce a curse. The curse would be something like, the wendigo would remain neutral, unless someone walked into the designated area, or approached the object with any intent. Then the wendigo would attack and harm or even kill the offender. The problem with this was, that the curse, once set into motion, would remain active, even tens or hundreds of years, after the original curse was cast. Now enter modern times and modern people would have encounters with horrific spirit monsters, unable to defeat it or even defend themselves from it. Wendigos normally would not be in these situations. But the old shamen using evil magic, would define the area and the terms in which the wendigo would be trapped themselves, unable to leave the area, or detach from the object it was tasked to curse. So someone today, encountering a wendigo, may be entering an area that had been cursed by a shaman, maybe hundreds of years before. If the object, like a certain stone, or tree, over time for whatever reason, no longer exists, the wendigo is still imprisoned there, unable to free itself from the curse. Only a knowing and well trained shamen can undo the curse and free the monster from its spiritual prison.
Thank you, for that excellent explanation. I think that wendigos are just one form created like that. Humans seem to be able to create anything, even unintentionally, like poltergeists or evil spirits, or open the doors to malevolent beings by simply performing monstrous acts.
As an Egyptian, that sounds very similar to folklore about the curse in ancient Egypt tombs. Southern Egypt is lettered with undiscovered tombs to the degree that people find them while casually digging in their properties. There are thousands of stories about people experiencing horrific things when entering these sealed tombs and many dying or losing thier minds after what they've seen. There's one particular story which I heard second hand and I don't know what to think of it. Almost all people living in these areas believe that ancient Egyptians casted curses on the tombs of Kings, the royal members, and nobles to protect the riches left in there. This curse is casted by binding a Jinn to this place that would stay there for thousands of years within the walls of the tomb. It's only job is to annoy, harm or even prey on any intruders seeking the treasures in there. They also believe that you should never enter a sealed tomb without calling someone who knows black magic and communicate with Jinn to tell first if the place is still guarded and then see if he can release the Jinn from the eternal bond to this place. Sounds like fairy tales but I've heard these words from grown ass people and even police officers who worked in these areas. They believe it the same way you believe that the sun exists.
The artwork at 18:27 is genuinely one of the most terrifying things I think I've ever seen on this channel. It reminds me of the creature that Australian couple ran into on the road in that Highways of Horror video. Something about the bony snout just makes both creatures look so freaky and distinct from other depictions of Wendigo type beings.

Either Wendigo, Goatmen, or both. I really hope they won't be simple fodder, like the Lycans were in RE:Village. A Wendigo should be an endgame level boss you MUST prepare to fight, not a minor nuisance that's only dangerous early on, or on the highest difficulty.

The Wendigo story from "Scary Stories to tell in the Dark," scared the HELL out of me as a kid! I had all three of those books but the Wendigo was definitely the story that gave me nightmares. That picture of the disappearing footprints in the snow and the, "Oh my fiery feet! My burning feet!" Yeah, NOPE! No thank you.
@@QuestionThings123 Honestly, it was just blind luck. For whatever reason or another, I just so happened to already be looking at that part of the screen when the next scene's art changed to it
I have been fascinated by Wendigos since the game Until Dawn first came out. I have gotten into them and other creatures thanks to this channel. I love learning about folklore and legends❤
Including the Predator hidden in a wendigo episode will never not tickle my fancy. They do have similar abilities; I’ve wondered sometimes if the creators of that 80s icon didn’t draw at least _some_ inspiration from the enigmatic legend…
I think there is short story from the early 1900s that's the basis for the predator movie. Listened to it over at horrorbabble a while ago. forgot the author and name, though.
Damn, I love these easter eggs, E.T at 11:58, Superman in the woods at 13:28, Terminator and freddy krueger at 13:22 and much more in literally every scene but I dont recognised them
My cousin, who was like my brother as kids, was murdered on Halloween in 2006. It was our favorite holiday. Sad. He only would have been 47 had he still been alive. Sorry for your loss
❤ Ahhh, the Algonquin Wendigo/Windigo! A real-life terror: In most legends, humans transform into windigos because of their greed. Symbolic meaning: The Wendigo serves as a cautionary tale against selfishness, overconsumption, and the destructive consequences of prioritizing personal needs over the community. We have all likely been misfortunate enough to run one or two in our lives…😢
I'm born pacific northwest, with my father of seven brothers, Grampa a logger, my dad a choker setter, they all grew up in wilderness areas. They always time to time spoke of bigfoot, and never anything like dogman, wendigos, skinwalker. These creatures were just never on the list. We are family of hunters, Grandpa said if you hear a baby crying inthe woods, don't go looking for it because a mountain lion makes that sound. Also, during hunting or woods trips, if everything goes quiet, it's time to stop whatever you're doing and leave. We've periodically had that happen...
@@cherub3624 Generally when the woods go quiet it means something is hunting, like a predator, so the other prey animals get real quiet. Been in the woods most my life and it gets eerie when the woods go quiet like that.
@@cherub3624 Not exactly, but same as ElitePetzNaz has said in this comment thread. It's nature saying something is near, and everything at that moment is like a message to beware. So, in my hunting circles, this generally means we do not want to find out...
That was a pleasure to watch. Loved the animation, and we spotted Superman making a guest star appearance. The image of the Wendigo itself was creepy. Well researched and beautifully presented as ever. As someone else said, it is not that the Wendigo is moving into our domain, rather we are moving into its domain, and just like a meeting of different animals, there are bound to be clashes over territory.
Okay so first off I want to say that I am so happy that they finally did one on the wendigo but I also want to say that the stories do vary across tribes and I'm a good boy and in our stories they don't actually have glowing eyes they have sunken black eyes the spirit themselves usually will hunt people that are selfish or greedy and they are inhumanly fast and inhumanly strong a lot of the details though are pretty correct with them being always hungry with an insatiable hunger for Flash because no matter how much they eat it never fills them because they usually grow in size in proportion to their meal and their arms do hang low and are much more longer than should be normal and they also do actually lure you with the sound of voices that you recognize so the only detail that was off to me was the one about glowing eyes
@@crazysilly2914 not silver, but weapons/projectiles smeared in white ash(either entirely burned wood or white ash of the white ash tree, slightly unclear). Plus decapitation and/or melting their ice-hearts.
What a day. So many subcribed channels are just uploading their content for Hallowmas. Was expecting the tree itself to be the wendigo in the first tale. Addendum: Recognized the Xenomorph in the first art, and the Yautja in the second art. Could have sworn to have seen a Thriller reference in the "flashlight eyes" tale.
The first wedigo you shown us, the audience, I thought the face looked like eddy from Iron Maiden. Around 12- 14 minutes in standing on the left side view of the trees was DEFINITELY sloth from the goonies lol! As always great work mate. I'm a big fan of your work....18 mins in and Freddy from nightmare on Elm Street. Now the ghostbusters lol
Eh, while the stories vary across different tribes and nations a lot of this sounds like reddit creepypasta. I think people have blurred the wendigo with skinwalkers, mimics, and even European werewolf lore. I find the original stories more compelling: villages being in the middle of brutal winters, becoming wary of going into the woods alone lest they be possessed by a spirit that drives you to eat your neighbor. Also stories of brave warriors pulling the icey heart of wendigo in its physicsl form out and setting it on fire to stop the curse. Really cool stuff
My folks live 30 minutes from jamseg hwy 695 from the episode "the lair of the windigo" I checked out this area and it's a forest with nothing but just birch trees. I can see how this creature could easily blend in. I also spoke to two Rangers from a Provincial Park in Alberta this summer and they told me a story from a place called poverty Rock. They were on their way out from this park and in order to get out you have to go up a steep hill along a ridge. They said that when they got close to the gate at the top they looked across and saw this giant half deer half wolf looking thing. He quickly rushed to the other side of the gate to get a better view and they saw it one more time. When it acknowledged their presence it sank into the shrubs and it seemed to have vaporized into thin Air. Because of this report Rangers and maintenance crew were not allowed to go to this park on their own after there had to be a minimum crew of three. I was an employee at this park and this is a true story.
Been camping many times, I hear a lot of weird stuff at night. The worst was early one morning when I heard a shriek at the bottom of a river valley, it sounded like an aztec death whistle but a lot shorter in duration and a whole lot louder. It could've been a fox or panther, or it could've been something much weirder. I don't think Wendigos and skinwalkers are getting closer to our settlements, we're moving into their land. Much of the American south wasn't well developed until after World War 2, and even today a lot of places have either been minimally surveyed or haven't been explored at all. Wendigo sightings down here only started after the south became more industrialized and more people started moving down south. Alabama and Tennessee are well south of me, and I've heard stories of skinwalker-like creatures being sighted less than an hour's drive to the south of the city I live in. It's scary and interesting to think that there's a good to decent chance something like this could be roaming free where I live. If wendigos are truly real, then I think it's a matter of time until someone catches one on camera. If we are disturbing their grounds with our activities then enough people in the wrong place at the wrong time will eventually trigger an encounter that's more terrifying than any others we've seen so far (like wendigos entering homes or hunting in subdivisions).
Nothing says Halloween like a new Bedtime Stories video on Halloween. It really should be a tradition.

The Wendigo story from "Scary Stories to tell in the Dark," scared the HELL out of me as a kid! I had all three of those books but the Wendigo was definitely the story that gave me nightmares. That picture of the disappearing footprints in the snow and the, "Oh my fiery feet! My burning feet!"
Yeah, NOPE! No thank you.
11:54 nice ET reference flying past the moon
Karate Kid on the tree branch below
@Britton_Thompson how'd you even catch that one? I dunno if I would've ever spotted that one on my own. Nice catch!
@@Britton_Thompson : You've got sharp eyes!
@@QuestionThings123 Honestly, it was just blind luck. For whatever reason or another, I just so happened to already be looking at that part of the screen when the next scene's art changed to it
@@Britton_Thompson You missed Robocop in the trees to the right of the house.
As a HUGE GB fan... The silhouettes of the Ghostbusters was a nice surprise.. Happy Halloween!!! 😊
The cryptid stories are my favorite.. thanks! Happy Halloween 🎃
Agreed.
Mine too!!!!
Same here! I love the cryptid stories! Especially the Mothman, Hellhounds and Sasquatch!
I have been fascinated by Wendigos since the game Until Dawn first came out. I have gotten into them and other creatures thanks to this channel. I love learning about folklore and legends❤
Happy Halloween.
Happy Halloween!!!🎃👻🕸
Including the Predator hidden in a wendigo episode will never not tickle my fancy. They do have similar abilities; I’ve wondered sometimes if the creators of that 80s icon didn’t draw at least _some_ inspiration from the enigmatic legend…
I think there is short story from the early 1900s that's the basis for the predator movie. Listened to it over at horrorbabble a while ago. forgot the author and name, though.
@ you don’t mean their production of _”The Wendigo,”_ by Algernon Blackwood, do you? That’s the first one that comes to mind, but I’m probably wrong…
Really great! Mikey, you've outdone yourself with this one :D
I REALLY love this channel. It’s quickly become one of my top 5 favorites!
Happy Halloween everyone always love binge watching your videos. Everyone working together on this channel are phenomenal
Damn, I love these easter eggs, E.T at 11:58, Superman in the woods at 13:28, Terminator and freddy krueger at 13:22 and much more in literally every scene but I dont recognised them
Sloth from The Goonies is wearing The Superman T-Shirt.
13:07 robocop helping them gun down that wendigo
"Dead or alive, you're coming with me."
Yup!!!
Christ my eyes must be going, only found one figure.
@@Fulgrim2 same here, I think I found Johnny 5.
Found the men in black and the ghost busters 😅
Happy Halloween to you too Bedtime Stories and thank you for being one of the best RUclips channels out there! 🎃👻
Awesome! Perfect channel to post a Halloween episode!
I love bedtime stories and war time stories. So fun to listen too also the charcoal drawings
Hell of a subject to pick for Halloween!
I love this channel and the narrator's voice makes the story even more captivating.
Finally more wendigo stories 🙌
Thank you for having such a wonderful channel, I always look forward to your new content with the utmost excitement
Not the biggest fan of Halloween, lost my bestfriend who really loved this day, but I do love a good episode of Bedtime Stories
My cousin, who was like my brother as kids, was murdered on Halloween in 2006. It was our favorite holiday. Sad. He only would have been 47 had he still been alive. Sorry for your loss
@josephringling769 sorry for your loss as well. It truly does suck!
Love bedtime stories. Incredible channel
Evading wendigos is easy. Just hold your controller as still as possible without cheesing it by putting it down.
Thank you
Amazing!! Happy Halloween and thanks for the treat 🎉
Incredible work! I can see all the effort that went into this!
❤ Ahhh, the Algonquin Wendigo/Windigo! A real-life terror: In most legends, humans transform into windigos because of their greed. Symbolic meaning:
The Wendigo serves as a cautionary tale against selfishness, overconsumption, and the destructive consequences of prioritizing personal needs over the community. We have all likely been misfortunate enough to run one or two in our lives…😢
Love when Ritch talks, not just in his narrator voice, but his regular voice. That “gday ladies and gentlemen” got me
I'm born pacific northwest, with my father of seven brothers, Grampa a logger, my dad a choker setter, they all grew up in wilderness areas.
Yeah? Did they say why it's time to leave?
@@cherub3624 Generally when the woods go quiet it means something is hunting, like a predator, so the other prey animals get real quiet. Been in the woods most my life and it gets eerie when the woods go quiet like that.
@@cherub3624 Not exactly, but same as ElitePetzNaz has said in this comment thread. It's nature saying something is near, and everything at that moment is like a message to beware. So, in my hunting circles, this generally means we do not want to find out...
birds also make child/women crying noises
Thanks, man. Artwork is pretty legit. 🔥
19:27 my god! This wendigo bite looks just like a gunshot wound!
Yay!!! Thank you for putting this out on Halloween! Wolves of Pavagada please please please!! 🥰🥰
Happy Halloween everyone 🤟🎃
That was a pleasure to watch. Loved the animation, and we spotted Superman making a guest star appearance. The image of the Wendigo itself was creepy. Well researched and beautifully presented as ever.
As someone else said, it is not that the Wendigo is moving into our domain, rather we are moving into its domain, and just like a meeting of different animals, there are bound to be clashes over territory.
Excellent job, there is alot going on in the North America wilderness.
This one scare the shit out of me..
Absolutely terrifying...✊🏼thank you
1st - Happy Halloween 🎃 this channel never fails to deliver! A hidden gem of RUclips!
You dont have to give back anything, you already give us so much in quality entertainment
14:12 I saw something next to the left tree.
Sloth from The Goonies
@melissajacobs5822 I haven't seen much of that movie, but I'll take your word for it.
@@rhedosaurus2251 you can tell by the shape of the head, the ears are uneven & ofc the Superman shirt

I read the Algernon Blackwood novella as a kid and I´ve been terrified of the Wendigo ever since, almost 50 years now. Great episode!
2:02 Xenomorph in the trees
Great video! Thanks for uploading on Halloween Bedtime Stories we appreciate all your hard work!!
Did anyone else spot the Predator?
Kind of hard not to
Erm…no. What time you got for that mate?
Thank you, Richard. You and your team are totally cool. We truly appreciate your hard work.
They did a previous video on the Wendigo a few years back. It's also excellent.
@Electron42 I must have missed it because seriously all their videos are excellent
and just like werewolfs, they can be killed by silver bullets?
and they don’t like electric devices/infrastructure.
@@crazysilly2914 not silver, but weapons/projectiles smeared in white ash(either entirely burned wood or white ash of the white ash tree, slightly unclear). Plus decapitation and/or melting their ice-hearts.
Showing one of the scenes going from pencil roughs to completed during the credits was cool, thanks.
13:19 - why does the Wendigo have the Superman logo on its chest? It's in the halloween mood too lol?
lol Goonies 😉
You didn't listen to the beginning of the video then did you?

This was a fun episode, looking forward to all the hidden characters in the background.
💎 this was a good one. Love the Wendigo. Creepy and awesome 💎
i dont often comment or like but your videos are a centerpoint of my tubeverse
I am so proud of you guys! I’ve been listening for years and I honestly am so happy you guys have just taken off 🎉
Good way to spend All hallows Eve
and now ‘all hallows day’ AKA ‘Day of the dead’ or ‘all saints day'
The first wedigo you shown us, the audience, I thought the face looked like eddy from Iron Maiden. Around 12- 14 minutes in standing on the left side view of the trees was DEFINITELY sloth from the goonies lol! As always great work mate. I'm a big fan of your work....18 mins in and Freddy from nightmare on Elm Street. Now the ghostbusters lol
Nice !
This one was so creepy! Great episode! The artwork was fantastic!
Thank you for your brilliant stories, artwork and amazing narration. You're always appreciated! 😊
Thank you, I love this channel. The voice, the stories and the animation is very cool indeed! Love it!
Eh…the accounts are too similar across the two countries.
I absolutely loved the hidden Easter eggs!
