The "hit your friends with an axe to determine if they're Jason or not" mechanic completely broke the game. The actual mechanic of using the cross to herd your friends to a safe room and wait for Jason to reveal himself to catch him in the act makes the game so much more of a game. (Also this only really works in-lore with imposter Jason in Part 5 or slug-mind-control Jason in Part 9)
Ohh, the scream! I remembered a game with a chilling scream on the c64 and I was able to find it in 5 minutes. Damn, I remember playing this back in the days but I remembered nothing but the scream.
I am watching this now, having fond flashbacks of playing this as a kid on the C64, and it cuts to the scream scenes...and scared the CRAP out of my kittens who are hanging out on my desk!! Awesome!!! :D
Took me forever to find this! I remembered playing as a kid but for years I always remembered it as "the one where the mask slowly appears on the screen" Nobody ever knew wtf I was talking about because they always circled back to the NES version.
You always know only two of the weapons can kill Jason. It is one of the few things that scares me. When Jason kills one of your friends and then sometimes a picture of sculls or the knife thing through the guys head comes up with the kinda screams it is creepy as heck. I loved going to the barn to hear the old Mac Donald music or the woods to hear the teddy bears picnic music.
One of the few "horror games", which actually gave me a surreal feeling as a boy at 10 yo :) But it was also very creepy to both look at the uncut VHS tapes of Friday the 13th and play the game.
That video game is one of the few things that scares the crap out of me. When the random pictures of the sculls or the knife thing thought the guys head comes up, it freaks me out.
Wow no one mentioned the secret "ending"?!? If you went round helping Jason kill everyone, he would come and "thank" you and walk off and not kill you!
1:43 ... for those who may interested in the original song: Johann Sebastian Bach - "Wachet auf, so ruft uns die Stimme" (BWV 645) (engl.: "Sleepers awake")
7:13 took your sweet time, anyways ahem *singing* Jason Voorhees had a farm chee chee ha ha ha and on that farm he killed a guy chee chee ha ha ha. with a ugh ugh here and a squish squish there here a ugh there a AAAH! everywhere a AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH! Jason Voorhees had a farm chee chee ha ha ha. thank you thank you
Was there ever an ending? I loved this game, but only one to scar me due to the random times a scary images came up as someone died or Jason scary music came on. Only two weapons could kill him. We had it on a tape with a few other games we never liked. One was a James bond 007 game.
That would happen if you walked into a frame while Jason was killing someone or had just recently killed them. There was also a screen with seven bloody skulls that would appear.
I had game like this but about Jack the Ripper or Frankenstein I was going to cementary, there was also city streets etc but don't remember title of this game
I had the c128d but never had this game, good old commodore, mine had an Atari like cartridge slot on the back haha. I guess you were supposed to know Jason was the guy wearing black, who the hack are the rest your slashing lol
What’s disappointing is that this really looks like it had the potential to be a pretty decent game. If only they had improved the gameplay and not made it so that killing all of the other counselors was the best strategy and actually attempted to make Jason look like Jason. I know the Commodore 64 had limitations, but they could have at least tried to make Jason look like he did in the movies instead of giving him no mask, black hair, a black t-shirt and black pants, which isn’t even remotely close to how he looked in any of the movies. Freddy actually looked like Freddy in the Nightmare on Elm Street C64 game, so there’s no excuse.
To finish this off: Church music: Felix Mendellsohn - Wedding March Barn Theme: Thomas D'Urfey - Old Macdonald Forest Theme: John Walter Brotton - Teddy Bear Picnic Jason Appears: Ludwig Van Beethoven - Symphony #3: Marcia Funebre Archery Range: The Adventures of Robin Hood Theme
That death scream scared the crap out of me when I was a kid.
Played the crap out of this when I was a kid. Commodore 64!!! Haha. Loved it.
Same :P

Are you sure he would just reveal himself like that? And what if you are too late?
we used to play this in the dark at night in the 80s, and it used to gives us jump scares, a fun little game.

0:34 the scariest thing about this game (besides the decapitated head with a knife in it)
It was actually a machete, that's Jason's signature weapon

Hello peoples from the comments on the Angry Video Game Nerd episode.
Old McJason had a farm
Yup this brings back lots of memories ...
Old school man. Great game!
This game seemed too complicated for me when I was a kid. I enjoyed the music. I think it was my first contact with classical music.
Idk why but I find the music in this game really scary but I love the original versions
I step in and step out of the rooms with dead people to see the horror pictures in the game.

Jumpscare screen timestamps:

11:43 🩸🗡
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!
This game introduced me to the music of J.S. Bach. Still loving "Zion hört die Wächter singen"
Who won the colored monitor?
Jason Voorhees had a farm!
SHU SHU HA HA HA
0:33 This looks terrifying :0
I used to get really really scared of this game growing up. I will literally hide the floppy disk from my brother's reach. god sake.
Holy shit, I remember seeing a clip of this game when I was a kid, and I never remembered it since until like, right now. Damn.
Why the Hell is there a wedding song in this game?
Loved that you could bring dead back to life.
To be exact: it is "Zion hört die Wächter singen" from the "Sleepers awake" composition
Takes me back.....
AVGN brought me here tbh.
Yes, Bryan Bone was my favorite character from the movies, so glad he made it into the game! Wtf?

This game used to give me the heeby jeebies. :P My favorite part about this game was the music though.
Wasn't there at one point a scream together with a full screen picture of a zombie face or something?
Correct, but that happens rarely
That would happen if you walked into a frame while Jason was killing someone or had just recently killed them. There was also a screen with seven bloody skulls that would appear.
@@saurondpIt’s at 8:16
The skulls are at 8:16 btw.
The next AVGN review, coming this Firday (Hopefully).
Never understood the point of the game when I was young... And not sure if I understand it now. Just walk around and find Jason?
Exactly. Find him before he finds the others and you :)
Oh, and enjoy the "scream" ;)
Early games were like that.
I had game like this but about Jack the Ripper or Frankenstein
I was going to cementary, there was also city streets etc but don't remember title of this game
8:16
FU!! :D
That was a JUMPSCARE
💀💀💀
💀💀💀💀
What does the fugue in D have to do with Friday the 13th?
Because it was a horror movie and every single horror movie has this cliché music
Why would Jason disguise himself as other people, and why does he look like The Fonze from Happy Days when you hit him?
burteriksson why don’t you teach him. I know people love those who give English lessons in useless comment sections.
burteriksson thanks professor fruit cake.
burteriksson you probably have a lot of friends
If you want to actually hear the game music as it should be without gaps, screams and changes to track... use a SID player.
CONGRATULATIONS !
THIS VIDEO IS DONE.....BUT FOR HOW LONG ?
Will you make a video of Sunday the 15th (the hack of this game)?
Ich habe es geliebt...
I like c64 from my childhood but Bach and Friday the 13th is a strange combination
Not as strange as Friday the 13th and Old McDonald Had a Farm.
That 8 bits chip sounded louder and more beliavable than any stupid digital keyboard from 90s...
Ух Ты Нихрена Себе Скелета 8:16
I had the c128d but never had this game, good old commodore, mine had an Atari like cartridge slot on the back haha. I guess you were supposed to know Jason was the guy wearing black, who the hack are the rest your slashing lol
So did you beat it ? I watched the AVGN review so i decided to see a play through. The idea to hit the other counselors
is a broken idea
So that's what I was supposed to do
What’s disappointing is that this really looks like it had the potential to be a pretty decent game. Lol the sound is shocking
0:30 Summer HOILdays? Really?
I remember there was a bug in the game, I would bring dead people back to life by hitting them with an axe
Games that scared me when I was younger:
1. ZORK (f'n Grue)
2. Friday the 13th
Also, if anyone know the song names, I'd appreciate it.
Fugue in D minor - Johann Sebastian Bach
Sleepers Awake - Johann Sebastian Bach
The other incidental tunes I'm not so sure of...
To finish this off:
Church music: Felix Mendellsohn - Wedding March
Barn Theme: Thomas D'Urfey - Old Macdonald
Forest Theme: John Walter Brotton - Teddy Bear Picnic
Jason Appears: Ludwig Van Beethoven - Symphony #3: Marcia Funebre
Archery Range: The Adventures of Robin Hood Theme
@@scottythegreat1 timestamp for the archery range?
Okay I guess Jason is dracula or something
i played the crap out of this game did it ever end? i would kill jason over and over with every kid and it would just repeat
i never killed Jason. Now i know it was possible
Y’all are here because of AVGN.
AVGN brought me here
Where the fuck is Jason?
He’s the one with black hair.
Friday The 13th
Came here from the latest avgn episode
Lol @ people who think the nes version is scary
