Very nerdy comment but: bards are a mostly support class, they’re supposed to make other players stronger that is the exact opposite of who you want to be the only person rolling well. That said, they have a few spells that could kill a weak enemy with a good roll… like say a really important child if they got a nat20... That party is as unlucky as they come.
When the bard is the only one rolling well you know things are about to get interesting... Last time that happened in a campaign I was in the cave ceiling was collapsed on top of us because we could not kill the things attacking us and figured they would at least die under the ceiling and hopefully between our dexterity and armour we'd be fine... Why do I say it like I'm the one who did it you may ask well that's because I was the bard in quest and our party build was so screwed our rogue had the highest health pool and armour class and it was just a rogue bard and paladin, we all survived if it means anything

For what it's worth, I actually have a DMPC inspired by Wei Wuxian in the campaign I'm DMing for my university's anime club - she's currently a Spirit Bard/Battlemaster Fighter multiclass, but I'm planning to multiclass her into Necromancer Wizard soon for obvious reasons. I told the players there'd be NPCs inspired by anime/manga/light novel characters, and said there'd be prizes for anyone who correctly guesses who someone's inspired by, and I'm honestly a little surprised no one has IDed Nara yet considering she's literally waving around a black flute and all...and yes, there is a Lan Wangji inspired DMPC to go with her - the players have been collectively referring to them as "the Gith Lesbians". I know for a fact that the Rogue has Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation on his reading list, so I expected _him_ to get it, but maybe the fact that they're genderbent and Gith threw him off (the Lan Wangji Gith being goth may also be a factor, but I couldn't mentally justify giving her a more accurate color palette since she wound up being a Shadow Monk/Twilight Cleric multiclass...yes the irony of that considering his nickname is not lost on me...) It's been a fun game. I used a bunch of generic isekai protagonists as icons for the bandits the party thought, which lead to the players concluding that there must be a "Bandit Lord Kirito" leading the bandits (I can see the logic) so now they're trying to hunt him down and are super stoked about killing Kirito, so that's the new BBEG now. Meanwhile, the Rogue successfully convinced Nara to make the dead bandits into jewelry after learning she has a proficiency in that, and the disguised Mindflayer (inspired by Kaneki from Tokyo Ghoul and Hikaru from The Summer Hikaru Died) that the players insisted on recruiting because he complemented the Ranger's pet cockroach is gathering up brains and blood as "spellcasting components" which no one is questioning so far...
fun story: i once killed an enemy as a bard using tasha's vicious mockery! :DDD this is so IC for wwx tho lol, and i love how NHS has hos own character and JC and WWX just have what is essentially themselves but cooler lol
