Kitty, thank you for sharing your talent. I want to create my own regency dress and am a little nervous, but determined so I can attend the Jane Austen Festival in Bath!
Thank you soo much for your lovely comment! And Good luck making a dress for the event! I am so jealous you're going to Austen Festival, but I hope you have an amazing time!
Very helpful video, I'm about to start on my own gown right now!! But I think that a less-busy fabric print would have been much better for seeing the details of what you're doing,
I am almost done with this one and I’m loving it so much. I’ve already bought the chemise pattern and that one turned out great also. Hopefully in the future i’ll buy more of your patterns since they are very clear and easy to follow and especially with you videos. So thankyou🤍
I just wanted to thank you for your awesome pattern and how to video. I made my own dress for the Bridgerton ball and it was amazing! You are very talented.
this is beautiful ! ok! i'm getting the pattern, its on my cart since forever~*+ i might need to make the neck opening higher,,.. since i'm short.. everything will fall into my cleav.. hahaha
Yes, This dress can be worn over the regency stays and chemise. You will still want to create a mock-up of the dress / dress bodice and try it on over the stays to make sure everything is sitting correctly.
Well, I have just about finished the bodice part. I tried it on and it’s a bit tight in my arm area. Is there anything I can do besides starting over? It’s wearable but not 100% comfortable. And also, when I am trying to do French seams the sewing machine keeps wanting to eat my fabric. I’m using a 100% polyester satin. Do you have any advice?
@@januaryrose2989 which part of the arm area is right? If it’s the sleeve and you can just cut a longer sleeveband. If it’s the armhole you can try trimming it a bit to make it slightly bigger, or size up the bodice. It’s hard to say why the machine is eating the fabric, could be a number of things, I’ll try and list a few possible areas to check. Make sure the presser foot is down when sewing. You may need to change the needle to a new needle or needle appropriate for your fabric. It could be tension is incorrect and needs to be adjusted. You may need to rewind your bobbin thread. Possibly, your upper thread tension may be too low, and the bobbin tension is pulling the fabric down towards the bobbin. You could be stitching too close to the edge of the fabric. And finally you can try sewing with stabilizer or paper this should help.
@ oh yes it’s the arm hole but I didn’t think of trimming it, thank you! I will tinker around with a few things tomorrow and hopefully get the issue resolved.
Why did you not make neck casing on bias? It seems it would have more easily gone around the curve… Also curious as to why you did French seams instead of the traditional 5/8” seam?
Hi There, in the description of this video there is the list of materials used, and in the description of my Etsy Pattern there is more details about materials. For this dress I used 5 meters.
This is the first actual project that I’ve done. I’m trusting the process 😅
This style would be prefect for bridesmaids dresses.

I want one of those dresses
does this dress work with the regency chemise and stays? or will they other regency dress pattern work best with those?

How did they make all these dresses by hand? It must have taken weeks to do!
No kidding! I suppose it helped that there was no Netflix to distract 😆
I always hand sew and a simple dress like this will take no longer rhan a week.

@@januaryrose2989 Goodluck! 💚 I hope you're able to sort it out!
@ thank you! I figured it out and had a eureka moment. Thought to check the top thread… it wasn’t assembled correctly, problem solved. 😊

Very likely because the neckline would be gathered with a drawstring, so it would not matter much. As for the French seam I would love to know, too.
Hi, I am interested in buying this pattern, but I cant find anywhere how much fabric you need for this dress, could you tell me ? Thank you :)

5 or 6 yards/meters. It says it on her Etsy page and in the video description.
Why not iron it?
I was wondering how she's not pressing. I was taught to always press when I sew in high school home economics.
Iron the drawstring casing, I mean
