Your 1000th free lesson, along with your 10 year anniversary on RUclips. Justin, I don't want to get over sentimental but I love you dude! You were the one who got me started years ago when I was a poor student with a dream. I regard your beginners course still as the best out there and I've seen a ton. Now I play at a solid intermediate level and am still learning by your videos and following you closely. It gets me somewhat sad that I haven't met you in person to thank you and chitchat about all the stuff I want to share with you. Still hope I can meet you one day :-). Just a huge thank you from the bottom of my heart!
Me too Justin mate, I live near you so maybe you cud do a lesson with me, a long time learner on a song I'm struggling to perfect, like this bloody one or a Hendrix song or whatever!
Its just so sublime just to watch you enjoy when you play.. it kind of got me emotional while you kept playing towards the end with you eyes closed, maybe recalling memories
Congrats on the thousandth lesson Justin. You've come a long way and thought countless amounts of people to fundamentals of guitar and, in turn, advanced guitar. You're the first person I search for lesson-wise whenever it comes to learning a song! You're explanations with regards to timing, and your pedant is what makes you the one of best teachers on the Internet.
hell yeah justin fine words indeed as a musician a little long in the tooth once in a while i need a refresher course on.some of the guitar patterns.and i have to say justin mate your pretty damn good well done my man rock on
@@JustinGuitarSongs I would simply tune to Open D with a Capo on Fret 10 or even better Open C without the Capo cause in Open C I could get a growling Baritone tone.
This was a buitiful lesson it pumped me up man you just handed me a gift 🎁 thanks this is a treasured lesson all the lights flashed in my mind..Thank you this lesson pushed a happy button in my spirit this is what is meant by different fillings music can project out to the listener and musician..Roland J Gutierrez from Magdalena New Mexico USA 🇺🇸
Justin. You have done it again! One of my favourite stones songs! My brain was imagining the French horn playing as soon as you started strumming. Beautifully played. Wonderfully taught. Thanks very much
This was great you were right about tuning with capo, helped great deal. Love your lessons, so detailed and you always point out things that sometimes get left out by others.
Justin......just want to compliment you on your excellent contribution to the world of guitar playing.....your lessons are always spot on and you are a great teacher......thank you
you deserve so much more credit Justin I was wondering earlier today how to play this song and you were right on top of it :) Best guitar teacher on youtube for sure
Just want to say thank you. you are definitely a god sent.. you never cease to amaze me justin. thx again for taking the time to tutor not only myself but im sure I speak for a lot of people out there cheers...
Hi, Justin. I've been subscribing to your channel for several years now. Love love LOVE the way this version sounds. So much so that my girlfriend and I performed it at a jam recently and it was a huge hit (she sang it, I played in open E, and another guitarist played in standard tuning). Thanks so much for introducing me to open E. I recommend your channel to EVERY new player that asks me where to look for lessons (well, you and Marty Schwartz to be fair). Thanks again. You, as much as anyone, are responsible for my success in learning and continuing to learn the guitar.
Agreed I noticed the little Hammor on with the "D" string in the beginning..You explain very well..Some guys fly threw it and don't say what string their hitting.
Justin, This is fantastic guitar work. And one of your best lessons ever. Thanks so much. I've sent twenty bucks donation for the teaching. Cheers from Los Angeles.
Just want to say - dude you are awesome. These are really well-detailed and produced lessons and I love that you're doing it all just for the love of sharing music. I learned Romeo and Juliet from you and hope to learn more jazz! :)
Thanks Justin for another great lesson on a great tune! When I listen to the original recording, I believe I hear a high E in the pickup measure, i.e. Keith seems to put down his pinkie in the 12th fret. The interlude chord progression after the third verse is also very tasty and simply impossible when you are not in open E tuning. Sincerely looking forward to more Stones lessons, e.g. some of the standard tuning lead lines of this song would be great. Keep up the good work!
Oh yer! Yr guitar sounds sooo good. I can never bother to change the tuning. So ill miss this one. Ill just listen to you, brilliant! Thanks Justin, you are trully the best teacher on the web!
This doesn't surprise me ! Open E/C tuning capoed! We used to play this in normal tuning, but we played a FUNK groove version of this , so it kinda worked. But if you want it authentic (like ANY Stones song) you have to use the same tunings and voicings! That sounds so nice Juz!
I find this to be a great comprehensive lesson on the amazing guitar and brilliance of Keith Richards. YCAGWYW : One of the greatest combinations of Song and Performance ever, thank you Stones and Justin.
I had no idea you were in a Stones tribute band, Justin; it's something I would love to do myself as I am a child of the 60's. My playing however, needs to improve a bit before I perform on stage. Practice, practice, practice. Many thanks for all of your dedication. :-)
Really beautiful Justin. Great guitar! Even though I'm more of a bass player these days, it seems most classic rock songs need that little extra tweaking:) That open E is so "lush". Love alternate tuning. In fact I may set the bass guitars aside for a few minutes and pull out a guitar to learn this one just because of that beautiful lush tuning. Thank you sir for another great one. I want a Maton so bad!
That was excellent. And you hardly said "kinda". Sorry Im a grump about that. Im going to get another guitar and start messing around with tunings. I think it would be more convenient. I play this in normal tunings. You can well see the difference in that tuning with the capo. Thank you Justin.
Another wonderful tune and lesson, thank you so much Justin. Never knew about the Stone tribute band, I sure love the Stones songs and will have to check your other Stones lessons out. By the way, I also think that you should basically say "Stuff the haters” and sing. So many tunes, I can't tell where they go unless I hear the words. You are a very good man Justin, Cheers!
Justin, have you heard the Brussels affair version? It's definitely a more rockin version, but the best part of that song is mick Taylor's lead, which is fantastic and would be an awesome major/minor lesson. Great playing ...Bret
Hey man. Might I suggest watching a few live videos of this. It’s played in open G with the capo on the 5th. I will say that it sounds good the way you have it but it’s not the way Keith does it.
I hate to tell you but this song is played in open G with the capo at the 5th fret now. But I like what you did with the open E tuning, Thanks for a great lesson.
Thanks Justin, you're a legend mate. I know you've already done quite a few Neil Young lessons but if it ever took your fancy to make an acoustic version of Words I'd be mighty appreciative. Keep up the good work, ;-)
I thought it was played in open G(D G D G B D) with the capo on the 5th fret!I've played it in this tuning for quite some time, and it sounds pretty good
that sure is one hell of a beautiful sounding guitar tune.

These Rock Stars make 2 chords sound timeless ..Amazing
Its just so sublime just to watch you enjoy when you play..
it kind of got me emotional while you kept playing towards the end with you eyes closed, maybe recalling memories
The resonance on that damn acoustic sounds so good Justin! Sounds really authentic.

That guitar and those strings, i can hear the brass instruments from the recording in there! Amazing
Thanks, Justin. My guitar playing has improved over the years thanks in part to your instructional videos. Keep on rockin, sir!
Great riff out of very little. The world needs more Justins!
Thank you Justin for all the lessons and love you gave us over the interwebs... Vivienne is so lucky to have a father like you!

What an amazingly great teaching method! Bravo Justin! One of those relatively easy songs with a complex feel to it.

I've tried Open E and G and E sounds right to me. Great job as always!
Justin. You have done it again! One of my favourite stones songs! My brain was imagining the French horn playing as soon as you started strumming. Beautifully played. Wonderfully taught. Thanks very much
Interesting version in Open E, always done it myself in Open G capo'd at the 4th. You learn something new everyday!
This was great you were right about tuning with capo, helped great deal. Love your lessons, so detailed and you always point out things that sometimes get left out by others.

Awesome, awesome detailed but yet down-to-earth instruction Justin - I'm now a fan!
I spent years trying to work this out. never could get it right. nice 1 Justin you are a star
Justin and Shut up and Play Your Guitar are the two most authentic cover lessons--and both skip the bridge! Damn, I actually have to think

Fabulous version! Really shows what that song is all about. Much appreciated Justin! 👍
Thank you so much for this, Justin, you're a Legend. One more reason for me to be saving for a Maton guitar. Yours simply sounds absolutely beautiful!
Congrats on 1 million subscribers
fantastic thanks Justin. I thought you were going to get stuck forever when you were in the strumming trance. Loved it!

that guitar has perfect tone an brightness … I think even I could probably make my playing sound good on it .
Much obliged. We're going to try this one.

Thank you again and again! From Campton NH.
Finally someone who does it correctly.
What happened to the big build-up? Why does everyone always skip that part?
Thank you Justin!
One of my all time favourite!!!
Now I have to practice until bloody fingers 😬
bloddy fingers ain't a great plan, but it's a lot of fun to practice! :)

great - THANKS!!!!
Justin not sure if it's me or not but your Maton seems to be sounding better over time. Great lesson mate!
Thanks. The Stones lessons are always awesome. I hope you do 'Can't you hear me knocking' at some point. :)
thank you all the time :)
I've always played this in Open G. Don't really matter as this sounds just as good, as all their songs are.
Excellent detailed lesson- cool.

great playing and video thanks
Class as always! Can you please do a lesson on virtually any Libertines / Babyshambles song?
Awesome lesson!!!!!!
More stones please
Magnificent! 🤗🤗
Cool stuff, thanks :) ! Sturmming pattern TC 09:26
Brilliant ! Thanks very much :-)
Good one bro! Thanx!
Hey man. Might I suggest watching a few live videos of this. It’s played in open G with the capo on the 5th. I will say that it sounds good the way you have it but it’s not the way Keith does it.
so beautiful!
I hate to tell you but this song is played in open G with the capo at the 5th fret now. But I like what you did with the open E tuning, Thanks for a great lesson.
… which are the same notes, if I am figuring right. Capo'd a m3 down, tuned a m3 up ….
Thanks Justin, you're a legend mate. I know you've already done quite a few Neil Young lessons but if it ever took your fancy to make an acoustic version of Words I'd be mighty appreciative. Keep up the good work, ;-)
At one stage of the song around 4.17 on the common studio version there is an extra part to the little bridge bit. Goes D E F D G
Great video Justin!
Cheers!
I thought it was played in open G(D G D G B D) with the capo on the 5th fret!I've played it in this tuning for quite some time, and it sounds pretty good
… tuned up a m3, capo'd down a m 3rd, = same …. sso far as I can figure anyway ...
If you watch any of the actual Stones playing this, it’s pretty obvious that it’s in G
@@Pubstout It's definitely in open G. ... It sounds nice and fat in open E though, I admit.
The studio version is in open e turning. I think later he started playing it in open g,
Well done mate
Maton.... really good Aussie made guitars
Nearly sounds like a 12 string.... great song....great lesson .....thank you.
Awesome!
