The man who is mentioned about 4 min into the video, shot through the neck, was Graham Collyer, and he did not die. He is alive. He bravely stood in front of his friend’s daughter and yelled “run” to try to save her, and as he turned back to face the shooter, he was shot in his left jaw which traveled through his neck and out the other side, leaving a 4 inch wound. The doctors did an amazing job, but he lives with strong physical pain every day. However, he continually works on keeping an optimistic attitude and appreciation for life.
The way this narration described the murders of the mother and children grossly played down the way in which he did it. As I have said before, this is the reason why this massacre hits me the hardest of all. First he ordered the mother to kneel down, while she pleaded for the children's lives. While she knelt he executed her, followed by the 3 year old girl. As the 6 year old girl crouched down behind a tree, he walked up to her, pressed the rifle against her neck and almost blew her head off. It truly defies belief.
OMG I cant fkn imagine. I would like to think that I am as empathetic as they come, but if I were to see this murderer brutally tortured, I don't think that it would affect me negatively at all. That would be the closest that I believe I could come to being a sociopath, because I wouldn't feel one ounce of sympathy for this monster.

He then went on to create the Allanha and Madeleine foundation to aid children that had been exposed to violence and bullying I know it has expanded to other countries notably Denmark as the Crown Princess Mary of Denmark was/is a Tasmanian
I will never forget Walter's face and grief, it was the most devastating of all the grieving, defying any other reaction than shared horror! I was extremely lucky, members of my family visited there regularly, but not on that day! Never again, please! 😪
We were booked to go there exactly one week after this happened. The police chalk lines around the bodies was still there. The cafe was still,there. It is such a beautiful place and impossible to imagine such evil happened there. We didn’t do to sticky beak, we went to,pay our respects to,people who experienced such terror. We stopped where he executed the mother and her her 2 beautiful daughters, and bent down to say some words. My poor father, who knew we were going there, rang me in a panic the day of the shootings as he couldn’t remember when our trip,was. The picture of the burnt property was a home that the murderer entered when them Police were chasing him and he murdered the homeowners and set the house on fire. It is not a picture of Port Arthur itself. This rocked Australians to their core and we wanted tighter gun control after this. Never again did we want this to happen. I will never forget that day as long as I live.

I totally agree with you regarding American gun laws they need to be stricter. I live in the UK and we manage to live without guns and our police don’t carry them except we do have some armed police for obviously serious situations but that’s rare. Yes we do have knife crime which has escalated over the years unfortunately but we still managed to avoid mass killings. It’s normally gang on gang crime but your normal Brit don’t get involved in any that. I would never live in a country where guns are so openly available. There are guns in the UK but it’s mainly illegal ones. I can honestly say that I feel so sorry for the majority of Americans who feel they need a gun to protect themselves it’s not a very civilised way to live. I know this will probably offend a lot of Americans but I’m sorry I will never agree with your right to have guns as all the mass shootings and murders you have constantly proves my point. We are still not seeing mass shootings consistently like in America though. Age 7 is absolutely ridiculous what idiot passed that law. It’s not often that Martin Bryant’s name is mentioned. News reporters at the time decided to not use his name and just refer to him as the shooter because they felt he would enjoy the notoriety. They just gave the names of the dead and injured. Although the massacre is mentioned whenever the subject of gun control crops up he is still mostly referred to simply as the shooter.
Martin Bryant was known as the village idiot by locals before this happened. Terribly sad and horrific, Im glad our gun laws changed after this, it shocked us to the core. I was 10 when this happened, I remember it all so clearly. Watching the interrogation video is CHILLING. Your reaction made me so emotional, youre right, lay off the hardcore stories for a while, look after yourself, regain some faith in humanity.

Yea I have decided to take a break from the mass shooting subject. I thought that I could handle it but I found myself getting way to emotional while watching this one. I actually had to downplay my anger and sorrow. I am about to check out something light hearted to purge this hatred of monsters out of my system. it was an awful awful thing, but the thing is, we were all so horrified, these kind of weapons were banned. and all weapon ownership laws tightened. plus there was a mass hand in of weapons. We have not had a mass killing since.

I went to Port Arthur 7 years after the shooting with my mum and my 8 year old son it was such a eerie place the bus driver that drove the bus to Port Arthur was named Arthur and and before we got to our destination he said don't ask about the shooting and I never did
Stumbled across your reaction. I admit - this is the 1st time I've watched anything about Port Arthur. I've purposely avoided it. He is someone who should receive no attention. When they did gun reform - it was not easy. Many disagreed. Yet it was a conservative government who achieved this. No idea how things will change in the USA. I still remember that day we were driving into the city and saw all the ambulances and police cars speeding towards Port Arthur we knew something bad had happened but couldn’t have comprehended how bad it was. In Tasmania we don’t mention his name he is only known as the gunman. It has been reported that he is now morbidly obese and lives a dull boring life in prison. I also feel for the police officers who were first on the scene many are still traumatised to this day with what they saw. I am so grateful that our conservative Prime Minister was strong enough to implement our gun laws many people still own guns in Australia but there are strict requirements around doing so. The Broad Arrow cafe was pulled down and is now a memorial to the victims of the Port Arthur massacre and we quietly remember those victims every year.
The changes to Australia's firearms laws didn't happen quite as smoothly as people would like to believe, there were protests across the country with people touting the same nonsense that gets bantered about in the US any time someone raised the issue of gun control, many of the politicians that strongly supported the laws sacrificed their political careers to get the new laws passed, but over-all the majority of Australians were in support of the new laws that were introduced and put into action a mere 4 months later. The right of the general public to be and feel safe is much greater than any individual's right to bear arms in my opinion.

Ik exactly what jail too. Everyone in Tassie does. His in confinement so he doesn’t get killed by other male prisoners.
It was a little girl who ran behind the tree, she was 6. Most of us were 110% behind the new gun legislation. Americans seem to have a different relationship towards guns than we do. It's not just that the buy back was easier due to having a small population either, American's seem far more attached to guns as part of the culture, it's an odd thing.

I live in the UK, it’s very hard to get a gun here, but you can. Gun laws were tightened again in 2000’s after a Incel went crazy with a shotgun and killed 7 people. Police failure to follow clear indications the guy was a fucking nut, but they let him keep the guns🤦🏻♂️
Well I think you have a good point. The amount of money that is expended on gun purchase could be better spent on psychiatric services to avert the problem. Many Americans would dispute this but the data suggests otherwise. I often get the American second ammendment as an excuse for doing nothing. Well all I can think to say is who wrote those ammendments and for whose benefit. It certainly didn't help us when nut cases have traumatised both of our proud nations. I remember this as if it was yesterday, I still cringe at the thought of those poor children. Unfortunately not all Americans will think as you do,some will argue this is why we cannot change the Amendment, we need our weapons for protection against this.The truth is if we change the gun laws before this madman could arm himself without questioning, his mental health apparently was obvious to people close to him. The gun laws in Aussie are the best example why your politicians should find the courage, to stand up to the minority. They won’t of course they depend on the support of their gun groups to be elected. The UK govt brought in the Firearms (amendment) act 1988 and one year later in 1989 The firearms (Scotland) rules was brought in by the secretary of state for Scotland . As far as I can see the only difference is the title . In 1997 the firearms (amendment) act 1997 and the firearms (amendment) (No 2) act 1997 were brought in. The only real difference between the gun laws in England and Wales and Scotland is that Scotland has banned air rifles
Mate im am Australian amd have watched Australian documentary about him amd many of these "facts" are new to me. Wounded were about 24. I would take some of this with a grain of salt. Hint: i dont watch programs unless the people doing it are natives. He will be in gaol forever. It was the worst massacre ever, terrible thing.
Once upon a time this guy would of been placed in a mental institution because he clearly showed signs of mental instability. Because of the cost of running such places they chose to use medication as the answer of keeping such people under control but relies on these people to be responsible for their own mental health in taking these medication. Does not always work. The argument that a lot of Americans use is that, if somebody there was armed, other than the assailant, then the situation could of been completely different, has merit. I personally do not like guns and believe that to be able to carry guns, should be based on strict psychological assessment and that includes law enforcement. Nobody should be able to own military weapons, period.
Every time an american tries to point out that if someone had a gun then the outcome would be different, I like to point out all their own Mass Shootings. Where were the good people with guns in each case? Perhaps one or two, the rest none! It seems to be a dream fantasy of most americans and a cowboy mindset to be the knight in shining armor that rescues the day. But it never happens.
@@stevep2430 They closed them down. If you are unsure of it, the biggest asylum in the southern hemisphere was called Mont Park Asylum. Mont Park, Lurundel, Bundoora, Lower Plenty, Plenty Valley, La Trobe make up the several hospitals joined into one massive place. It was a sprawling hospital that spanned several suburbs. The place was colossally massive in size and had thousands of staff to run it. They did close it down for a reason as the place had a shady side, along with the others like Kew Cottages and Wilsmere. Abuse and mistreatment was rampant and it reached a point that they had to act and stop it cold in its tracks. But with it gone, they started making excuses for those mentally unsound and dangerous people. They really had nowhere to go except for tiny little wings in various hospitals which haven't enough beds, and since they can't go into jail, they are left to run free by the courts. However they knew how dangerous Martin was so they locked him up permanently in jail to rot and die.
Very heart felt reaction mate. Did you know that in the USA 🇺🇸, the old black powder guns (Navy Colt, Army Colt, Wells Fargo etc, plus muskets etc) (cap and ball guns) are classified as antiques and not firearms. So no background checks are required to own them.

As heartbreaking as this was for ALL Aussies our government stepped up and did the right thing to prevent it from happening again. Yes there are still shootings occasionally now but not to this scale. I feel sorry for Americans as no matter how many mass shootings happen their government will never do anything to control guns

Yeah, this was a bad day for sure. There are however, a few holes in the official story, according to some Police Officers I have spoken with, including a Melbourne Special Operations Group (like a SWAT group) commander who’s an ex-SAS soldier and an expert in small arms. So I don’t buy the official version of the events completely. You also have to understand that gun owenership in Australia is not ANYTHING like it is in the USA and hasn’t been since the late 1800’s. The foolishness of the laws that came out of this means that Olyimpic shooters became overnight outlaws if they didn’t hand over their competition guns. Unfirtunately, a lot of Aussies just believe whatever the authorities say, about anything, and then respond with knee-jerk reactions that would make the Guiness Book of Records.
Put simply, guns are profitable to sell......and they want to keep selling them.....they don't care about who uses them on who! Sobering to think the only reason we banned military weapons is most of the worlds common rifles are all imports here so the margins are thin & that motive to keep gun laws loose wasn't there.
The way to stop it in America is simple. Look you have the right to bare arms ,. Ok have one of those one shot muskets it's a fire arm,. But fires once and takes time to reload, and nobody is giving up anything they could still have their arms. Muskets

I don't blame you at all. I don't think that I will be reacting to something like this for a while. I realized as I was watching this that I am becoming way to emotionally affected and connected with these horrific acts. I actually had to downplay my reaction because I was way more pissed off and hurt than I wanted the camera to see. I am from New Zealand so we have had the mosque killings here and we have tightened up on gun control here. Australia tightened up on gun control after this unfortunate incident. I'm starting to think that in an open and shut case such as this where pure evil was let loose corporal punishment should still be enforced. He now sits in prison with no hope of rehabilitation at the tax payers expense. Last I heard the tax payer was paying for hormone therapy and a sex change operation for him as he decided to become a woman.

I'm not watching this one, and I'm not sure that this is a good way for you or your channel to go. Terrible things happen that are very difficult to prevent, and while the gun law debate is a worthwhile one to have I just don't know if this is the right way to do that.
I 100% agree with you Margaret, that is the last one of those I will be doing for a while. I thought that I could handle it but reality set it and all its doing is getting me depressed hearing about children being shot to death for absolutely no reason. I mean innocent people being murdered is horrible as it is. This guy shot a mother and her very young daughter while she was holding her. The older daughter ran and tried to hide but this coward chased her down and shot her as well. A man who knew Martin from childhood and was there that day, and saw the gunman, said it was not Martin. There is much more to the story. A woman who was working at the Cafe that day eventually publicly stated that Martin was not the gunman. It's been calculated that the gunman's kill rate was achievable by only 5 marksmen in the world. A young guy, IQ 62, with no weapons experience other than letting off a few rounds at the local quarry suddenly became a crack shot. There is a great deal to suggest that this was a cia false flag and an Aussie policeman spent the rest of his life presenting the case around the country.

There's also the fact that it was impossible to get from a small store that video surveillance has him in at a certain time , then to where he parked his car at the time he did.. also s.a.s marksman say it's impossible for anyone to be that accurate in that position. Also have plenty of friends with hat have been in jail while he is there and haven't had much interaction as he is mostly isolated but the little interaction that they've had , all have said he is way too dumb to do pull that job off

I will never forget Walter's face and grief, it was the most devastating of all the grieving, defying any other reaction than shared horror! I was extremely lucky, members of my family visited there regularly, but not on that day! Never again, please! 😪
We were booked to go there exactly one week after this happened. The police chalk lines around the bodies was still there. The cafe was still,there. It is such a beautiful place and impossible to imagine such evil happened there. We didn’t do to sticky beak, we went to,pay our respects to,people who experienced such terror. We stopped where he executed the mother and her her 2 beautiful daughters, and bent down to say some words. My poor father, who knew we were going there, rang me in a panic the day of the shootings as he couldn’t remember when our trip,was. The picture of the burnt property was a home that the murderer entered when them
Police were chasing him and he murdered the homeowners and set the house on fire. It is not a picture of Port Arthur itself. This rocked Australians to their core and we wanted tighter gun control after this. Never again did we want this to happen. I will never forget that day as long as I live.

I totally agree with you regarding American gun laws they need to be stricter. I live in the UK and we manage to live without guns and our police don’t carry them except we do have some armed police for obviously serious situations but that’s rare. Yes we do have knife crime which has escalated over the years unfortunately but we still managed to avoid mass killings. It’s normally gang on gang crime but your normal Brit don’t get involved in any that. I would never live in a country where guns are so openly available. There are guns in the UK but it’s mainly illegal ones. I can honestly say that I feel so sorry for the majority of Americans who feel they need a gun to protect themselves it’s not a very civilised way to live. I know this will probably offend a lot of Americans but I’m sorry I will never agree with your right to have guns as all the mass shootings and murders you have constantly proves my point.

Quite a few of these people would no doubt be licenced to hold several weapons, The total number of firearm certificates is given as 156,033, and the rest are shotgun certificates. We are still not seeing mass shootings consistently like in America though. Age 7 is absolutely ridiculous what idiot passed that law. It’s not often that Martin Bryant’s name is mentioned. News reporters at the time decided to not use his name and just refer to him as the shooter because they felt he would enjoy the notoriety. They just gave the names of the dead and injured. Although the massacre is mentioned whenever the subject of gun control crops up he is still mostly referred to simply as the shooter.

Martin Bryant was known as the village idiot by locals before this happened. Terribly sad and horrific, Im glad our gun laws changed after this, it shocked us to the core. I was 10 when this happened, I remember it all so clearly.

it was an awful awful thing, but the thing is, we were all so horrified, these kind of weapons were banned. and all weapon ownership laws tightened. plus there was a mass hand in of weapons. We have not had a mass killing since.

I went to Port Arthur 7 years after the shooting with my mum and my 8 year old son it was such a eerie place the bus driver that drove the bus to Port Arthur was named Arthur and and before we got to our destination he said don't ask about the shooting and I never did

I still remember that day we were driving into the city and saw all the ambulances and police cars speeding towards Port Arthur we knew something bad had happened but couldn’t have comprehended how bad it was. In Tasmania we don’t mention his name he is only known as the gunman. It has been reported that he is now morbidly obese and lives a dull boring life in prison. I also feel for the police officers who were first on the scene many are still traumatised to this day with what they saw. I am so grateful that our conservative Prime Minister was strong enough to implement our gun laws many people still own guns in Australia but there are strict requirements around doing so. The Broad Arrow cafe was pulled down and is now a memorial to the victims of the Port Arthur massacre and we quietly remember those victims every year.
The changes to Australia's firearms laws didn't happen quite as smoothly as people would like to believe, there were protests across the country with people touting the same nonsense that gets bantered about in the US any time someone raised the issue of gun control, many of the politicians that strongly supported the laws sacrificed their political careers to get the new laws passed, but over-all the majority of Australians were in support of the new laws that were introduced and put into action a mere 4 months later. The right of the general public to be and feel safe is much greater than any individual's right to bear arms in my opinion.

It was a little girl who ran behind the tree, she was 6. Most of us were 110% behind the new gun legislation. Americans seem to have a different relationship towards guns than we do. It's not just that the buy back was easier due to having a small population either, American's seem far more attached to guns as part of the culture, it's an odd thing.

What some people do not know is that the mother of the mum with the two girls that were murdered had recently died. The father was grieving the loss of his wife when his daughter and two granddaughters were murdered.

I live in the UK, it’s very hard to get a gun here, but you can. Gun laws were tightened again in 2000’s after a Incel went crazy with a shotgun and killed 7 people. Police failure to follow clear indications the guy was a fucking nut, but they let him keep the guns🤦🏻♂️
Well I think you have a good point. The amount of money that is expended on gun purchase could be better spent on psychiatric services to avert the problem. Many Americans would dispute this but the data suggests otherwise. I often get the American second ammendment as an excuse for doing nothing. Well all I can think to say is who wrote those ammendments and for whose benefit. It certainly didn't help us when nut cases have traumatised both of our proud nations. I am from New Zealand but as you may know we two countries stand together. What affects them affects me.

I remember this as if it was yesterday, I still cringe at the thought of those poor children. Unfortunately not all Americans will think as you do,some will argue this is why we cannot change the Amendment, we need our weapons for protection against this.The truth is if we change the gun laws before this madman could arm himself without questioning, his mental health apparently was obvious to people close to him. The gun laws in Aussie are the best example why your politicians should find the courage, to stand up to the minority. They won’t of course they depend on the support of their gun groups to be elected. The problem in Aussie is the Mental Health System is way below being acceptable, There’s still a lot to be done in that area, unfortunately the use of drugs hasn’t helped to improve that situation 😢

The UK govt brought in the Firearms (amendment) act 1988 and one year later in 1989 The firearms (Scotland) rules was brought in by the secretary of state for Scotland . As far as I can see the only difference is the title .
In 1997 the firearms (amendment) act 1997 and the firearms (amendment) (No 2) act 1997 were brought in.
The only real difference between the gun laws in England and Wales and Scotland is that Scotland has banned air rifles
Mate im am Australian amd have watched Australian documentary about him amd many of these "facts" are new to me. Wounded were about 24. I would take some of this with a grain of salt. Hint: i dont watch programs unless the people doing it are natives. He will be in gaol forever. It was the worst massacre ever, terrible thing.
Once upon a time this guy would of been placed in a mental institution because he clearly showed signs of mental instability. Because of the cost of running such places they chose to use medication as the answer of keeping such people under control but relies on these people to be responsible for their own mental health in taking these medication. Does not always work. The argument that a lot of Americans use is that, if somebody there was armed, other than the assailant, then the situation could of been completely different, has merit. I personally do not like guns and believe that to be able to carry guns, should be based on strict psychological assessment and that includes law enforcement. Nobody should be able to own military weapons, period.
Every time an american tries to point out that if someone had a gun then the outcome would be different, I like to point out all their own Mass Shootings. Where were the good people with guns in each case? Perhaps one or two, the rest none!

@@stevep2430 They closed them down. If you are unsure of it, the biggest asylum in the southern hemisphere was called Mont Park Asylum.
Mont Park, Lurundel, Bundoora, Lower Plenty, Plenty Valley, La Trobe make up the several hospitals joined into one massive place.
It was a sprawling hospital that spanned several suburbs. The place was colossally massive in size and had thousands of staff to run it.
They did close it down for a reason as the place had a shady side, along with the others like Kew Cottages and Wilsmere.
Abuse and mistreatment was rampant and it reached a point that they had to act and stop it cold in its tracks.
But with it gone, they started making excuses for those mentally unsound and dangerous people. They really had nowhere to go except for tiny little wings in various hospitals which haven't enough beds, and since they can't go into jail, they are left to run free by the courts.
However they knew how dangerous Martin was so they locked him up permanently in jail to rot and die.
Very heart felt reaction mate. Did you know that in the USA 🇺🇸, the old black powder guns (Navy Colt, Army Colt, Wells Fargo etc, plus muskets etc) (cap and ball guns) are classified as antiques and not firearms. So no background checks are required to own them.

As heartbreaking as this was for ALL Aussies our government stepped up and did the right thing to prevent it from happening again. Yes there are still shootings occasionally now but not to this scale. I feel sorry for Americans as no matter how many mass shootings happen their government will never do anything to control guns

Yeah, this was a bad day for sure. There are however, a few holes in the official story, according to some Police Officers I have spoken with, including a Melbourne Special Operations Group (like a SWAT group) commander who’s an ex-SAS soldier and an expert in small arms. So I don’t buy the official version of the events completely. You also have to understand that gun owenership in Australia is not ANYTHING like it is in the USA and hasn’t been since the late 1800’s. The foolishness of the laws that came out of this means that Olyimpic shooters became overnight outlaws if they didn’t hand over their competition guns. Unfirtunately, a lot of Aussies just believe whatever the authorities say, about anything, and then respond with knee-jerk reactions that would make the Guiness Book of Records.

I realized as I was watching this that I am becoming way to emotionally affected and connected with these horrific acts. I actually had to downplay my reaction because I was way more pissed off and hurt than I wanted the camera to see. He now sits in prison with no hope of rehabilitation at the tax payers expense. I'm not watching this one, and I'm not sure that this is a good way for you or your channel to go. Terrible things happen that are very difficult to prevent, and while the gun law debate is a worthwhile one to have I just don't know if this is the right way to do that.
I 100% agree with you Margaret, that is the last one of those I will be doing for a while. I thought that I could handle it but reality set it and all its doing is getting me depressed hearing about children being shot to death for absolutely no reason. I mean innocent people being murdered is horrible as it is. This guy shot a mother and her very young daughter while she was holding her. The older daughter ran and tried to hide but this coward chased her down and shot her as well. A man who knew Martin from childhood and was there that day, and saw the gunman, said it was not Martin. There is much more to the story. A woman who was working at the Cafe that day eventually publicly stated that Martin was not the gunman. It's been calculated that the gunman's kill rate was achievable by only 5 marksmen in the world. A young guy, IQ 62, with no weapons experience other than letting off a few rounds at the local quarry suddenly became a crack shot. There is a great deal to suggest that this was a cia false flag and an Aussie policeman spent the rest of his life presenting the case around the country.

There's also the fact that it was impossible to get from a small store that video surveillance has him in at a certain time , then to where he parked his car at the time he did.. also s.a.s marksman say it's impossible for anyone to be that accurate in that position.
Also have plenty of friends with hat have been in jail while he is there and haven't had much interaction as he is mostly isolated but the little interaction that they've had , all have said he is way too dumb to do pull that job off

G'day Your comment early about the use of an assult rifle is wrong. As tragic as these types of events are, it does not help anybody when lies are spread about what happens. Your comments at the end of this Video clearly show that you do not understand what the second ammendment does for the american people. Many Australians wish that we had a 2A style right.
