  • We learned a hard lesson on this baby deer. We should have searched for it sooner.
We live in the woods and our son found this fawn near death and it's been there for days. We did an article on finding baby deer and when to help them and when to leave them alone. So when we first heard its cry, days ago, we thought it was a temporary situation.

    But apparently not.
When our son heard the cry again - days later - he bolted into the woods to find the source.
This one clearly needed help and we first thought the only thing we could do for it was to keep it comfortable and loved in its last hours. After a day of working to give it water and goats milk it has revived.
We've gone from thinking about where we might bury it to naming it and considering what will happen if it continues to improve.
