I’m 23, newly fallen in love with PYREX, but accidentally had dwd a few pieces I had at home. I knew not what I had, and being my age, I’m sure nobody is surprised to hear that I just throw everything in the dishwasher LOL. Thank you SO SO much for this video because I was absolutely devastated and afraid there was no way to fix what I had done 💔
I have that big yellow bowl. In fact I’ve had 3. I have black marks on them and I tried a magic eraser and I’m so glad I tried it on the bottom and saw that it removed the shine/glaze 😩 Thank you for your expertise on this matter 👍🏼
Hi there. I bought a nesting set of pyrex bowls, I beleive they all were damaged from dishwasher. I scrubbed them, but now they are very dull with no sheen whatsoever. Will Peek work to put the shine back permanently, or do they need re-glazed somehow. thank you if you can help at all. I wish I could show you pictures. Holly
OMG My family has been dishwashing pyrexes bowls for years and we never had that but I've seen a couple bowls from others that are bad. I guess maybe our water was okay on them. I do have this orange refrigerator container it's like that blue one that I've been trying to get this stupid black mark off. Been using just soft abrasive stuff but nothing's worked so I'm going to give this a try for sure.
@@BackPorchAntiques thanks, I got it from a yard sale of a set of almost the same kind of colors and size you have there. A big yellow one, the orange one I stated, and two brown small 501 dishes one with a lid and one without. I'm looking for a lid to try and make a complete set so I can sell it all together but it doesn't look like it's going to happen. I got to call all the antique stores around to see if they have one.
Thanks for this video. Fascinated to learn about how to clean up old pyrex. Do you think the peek product would word on getting bake stains off of clear pyrex baking trays? Or do you have another tip for how to do so? Bless.
Peek will work for that, but SOS pads work great on the clear ones. The steel wool is too abrasive for colored glass, but it's perfect for clear. Thanks for watching!
@@BackPorchAntiques Thank you for the speedy response. I had read that the steel wool was not good on pryex but maybe the clear is okay. I'll let you know how it goes~
@@KathyGuidiWOW - I have had awesome results using magic erasers on the clear pyrex. YES!! A Magic Eraser!! I get it really wet and go over problem areas in small circles. It works great on old burnt food spots!
I use baking soda. If you get the dish wet and put baking soda on it let it sit for a few minutes or longer depending on how much build up is on it. You can even spray a mixture of water, vinegar and dawn dish soap on it and just simply wipe with a cloth and it comes right off. This is just for the stuff that’s baked on.
There is actually a way to mould it with epoxy. I'm not familiar with the method well enough to do it, but you may be able to research that line of fixing them.
I've never used it on milk glass, but I'd bet it would work. That said, don't take my word for it. If you try it, try it in an inconspicuous place and see how it does. Thanks for watching!
I don’t understand…why show the faded blue piece if you weren’t going to show how to restore it? We want to know how to restore DWD faded Pyrex more then fixing the utensil marks.
It was to show people who aren't as educated as you what dwd pyrex looks like. Some people aren't at your level, Tom. C'mon man, throw a man a bone. Also... you can't fix dwd. It is damaged permanently. If I could fix dwd, then we'd really have a cool video.
@@BackPorchAntiques Thanks for the reply. I get it. Sorry, my response was written out of frustration. But maybe when you showed the blue piece you preference that this is from DWD damage and this piece is beyond repair however, I can show you how to remove the utensil marks. To show the damaged blue piece and then never reference it again in the video seemed weird and frustrating to me. I do appreciate you taking the time to show how to remove the marks though.

I hope you can get it squared away. Keep collecting! Thanks for watching!
So easy to pop the dishes into the dishwasher, but no longer the PYREX! Thank you!
Yes! Not the Pyrex. It won't hold its color. Thanks for watching!

I restored the gloss permanently! With triple thick brilliant brush on gloss glaze!! Forever fixed!!
Good to know!
I wanted to see you work it on the blue faded refrigerator container?
Blue is hard to bring back. This will pull off the utensil marks and gloss it a little, but it won't bring the color back.
I would have prefered to see you polish the blue faded dish. :(
Sorry about that. Maybe we’ll get it on the next video we do for polishing.

I wish I had good news, but I don't. The peek will work on some small imperfections but dishwasher dead pieces will never regain their luster.

Hello! Can I use the pink stuff to remove smudges on the Pyrex?
Yes. Use the peek, and it's great for that.
Would this product work to polish clear glass too? Thanks
I've never tried it on clear glass, but I assume it wouldn't hurt anything. It'd be worth a try!

Can you tell me how I could repair the chip in BOTTOM of Pyrex bowl?

Can I use this product on my vintage milk glass pieces? Thanks!

Does it wash off when you wash them several times?
I'm not sure. I don't use or wash our pyrex very much.
The yellow came off my casserole rectangular dish when it went through the dishwashing
I'm certain it would. Dishwashers will kill pyrex.
is there no way the DWD one can be fixed at all?
It can be polished a little, but it will never be as good as it once was... Sadly.

They have lead paint on them at least that's what they say.
That's incorrect, but I've heard that too. Some of the older, early 1900s glassware had lead in them.
I have been researching this and definitely do your research before eating from antique or vintage dishes.
Yes, some are toxic. Pyrex, however, is not.
All painted Pyrex was lead paint. I have a lot and want to sell it all to one dealer. I have Hazel Atlas Yellow Florentine and Poppy to let go also.
