I bought one a year ago... just hit 20k miles. No issues, average 32 mpg (lifetime), best gas mileage on a trip 37.2 mpg (actual). 12 gallons x 37.2 mpg = 446 miles on 1 tank of gas. Added a Trifecta Budget tune, and the car has an honest 35+ additional HP to the wheels (and it's selectable, tune off with cruise control selected for stock power levels+gas mileage, tune on with cruise button (off) and you've got some very peppy driving @ the cost of fuel economy-- I ran a full tank in performance mode, drove it like I stole it- and got 26 mpg). A fun car, and worth the extra $$$ over an LTZ (much better material vs. LTZ IMO).
Nice job on the video (as usual). I'm pleasantly surprised with the interior space, quick pickup and engine note. Sounds like it has a bit of road/wind noise at speed, but probably to be expected at this price point. Impressive overall and I'm not a GM guy.
Looking at that "digital" speedometer is driving me nuts. I can see why they finally went back to analog gauge. Now, if only they would add a "temp" gauge, life would be beautiful!
I bought one of these 3 weeks ago. You don't feel every bump, it rides firmer yes, but still has body roll and soaks up rough roads just fine. the exhaust is only different @ the tip...No sound difference than the other trim Sonics (LT, LTZ). The RS has a higher numerical final drive ratio... so 6th gear @ 70 mph = 3000 rpm (and it'll pull a 6% grade no problem in 6% at that speed). The LT/LTZ 1.4L with the 6 spd run about 500 rpm less in 6th gear (better mileage but more shifting).
There is some pretty nice and easy tuning options out there for this car. For less than a $1,000 you can get a stage 1 and e85 tune and you'll have roughly about 220 hp and 250 ft-lbs.of torque. Not to mention when you flash the ECU you can do no-lift-shift (auto you can make it do quicker shifts), adjust boost, air to fuel ratio, and more. Not too bad for a car that comes off the dealer lot using regular unleaded gas and gets pretty good gas milage.
Regular sonics sit about a half inch higher. More comfy on the suspension. This model lets you feel every little bump. This RS model has the sport exhaust too, so it's gonna be noisier than the base.
This is a good car for the price! yes its no ford focus st or golf r but still for those who want a fun car with appeal for a lower price this would be one of them.
I am getting over 40 mpg combined average with nine. Mixed highway/backroad/city. No issues. Get a 2013 or newer. Dont get 2012. Best car I've ever had.
Oops sports exhaust tip. Tested this and the Cruze Eco and just put a little of the salesman pitch on it. I tend to tune them out, so I guess I heard it wrong. Oh well, still a decent little car considering the price tag.
I thought you meant the Mini was a ripoff in terms of looks/style. I thought your comment was about looks, not price. But if you want to talk about cars being overpriced, the RS version of the Sonic is just that... overpriced for what you get.
I wonder if it drives like the aveo? As in shifting it is like stirring a pot of stew, steering reminds me of the old farmall with ps and the brakes feel like go cart friction brakes. Granted the aveo cost about $10,000 new but it drives like a $500 pos.
What is the mini a ripoff of? Fiat has just reestablished itself in the U.S., so it's too early to make judgements by the numbers. But that's not the point anyway... your comment was about looks, not sales numbers.
looks good but not worth 20k+ ... shit even the new 5-door hatchback forte will have 200+ hp...if this thing had 180hp+ then yeah I'd consider it but nope.
The mini is a ripoff.....as in too much money, not enough car. Fiats problem in the 80s was insufficient dealer numbers....It seems to be happening again. I can't even think of the nearest one near me. The abarth looks good but not to justify the nearly $2000 dollar premium.
Yeah and the second you say "why not _____ instead" someone can just counter your counter. You don't get cool boy points for knowing another car exists.

Best looking car in this segment by far.
Looking at that "digital" speedometer is driving me nuts. I can see why they finally went back to analog gauge. Now, if only they would add a "temp" gauge, life would be beautiful!

Not a very winding road, but I do appreciate your intros to cars.
It helps me narrow down the field.

What a brilliant high definition screen capture!!? Woow that's really great quality. Which camera brand did you use?
The Fiestas interior is a bit more pleasing to the eye, IMO.
im buy Chevrolet sonic 2012 two years ago at this time im no have any issue from that car
Interesting car with nice rims. Home GM keeps up the good work
That steering wheel looks huge! The Sonic is nice though. Might be getting one. Comparing to a bunch of other fun cars.
It is just fine. You can make a U turn without losing it!
Just bought one this year great car
I'm formerly from West Michigan. I sure don't miss those crappy Michigan road. They fill the roads with bad weather (and salt) in the winter.
Really impressed by this thing....never thought I'd say that
Looks like a very nice subcompact. My one question is about the noise- the ride seems composed and car seems fairly quiet, but is it boomy over bumps?
This car looks perfect You know
This is a good car for the price! yes its no ford focus st or golf r but still for those who want a fun car with appeal for a lower price this would be one of them.
Considering this for a first car. I would get this used.
I am getting over 40 mpg combined average with nine. Mixed highway/backroad/city. No issues. Get a 2013 or newer. Dont get 2012. Best car I've ever had.
looks interesting, nice car for the city, but I agree with some guys here, a little noise problem, but for me it's nothing, just turn on the radio LOL
I really like this car and I was going to buy it, but unfortunately, in Brazil I can't afford one
R.I.P. Paul Walker 😱😫😰😔
I like Chevys cause they start up fast. In others cars you always hear the spark plugs
For a car that's in the same class as Toyota Yaris and Honda Fit its not bad. And has a decent exhaust tone from that little 1.4 liter.
Nice interior, is there a lot of body roll given the shape of the car?
You guys rock .... keep up the good work ! :)
I Love this car!
Beautiful ride
Oops sports exhaust tip. Tested this and the Cruze Eco and just put a little of the salesman pitch on it. I tend to tune them out, so I guess I heard it wrong. Oh well, still a decent little car considering the price tag.
its exactlly like mine and I love it!!!!
Noise isolation is suffering, and speedometer on the fan
an exhaust clip would have been nice since it's quite different from other trims
I personally cannot understand why would anybody buy one of these. Great video tho!
I can't decide if I like the digital speedometer for being different or whether it's slight delay would annoy me!
Did you forget the Fiat 500 Abarth and the Mini Cooper S? Even though the cost more, they are still in the same segment.
My dads friend has this but it’s an automatic, it’s gray, and it’s like- the LT
From an economic standpoint, the LTZ would be a better choice.
I thought you meant the Mini was a ripoff in terms of looks/style. I thought your comment was about looks, not price. But if you want to talk about cars being overpriced, the RS version of the Sonic is just that... overpriced for what you get.
süper car. tasarım çoğuna 1000 basar
Excellent Car!
Is this car manual or automatic
Boy, you can see where the extra money goes in more expensive cars when it comes to NVH.
looks cool but people need to lower their expectations. this is a subcompact car
That's my opinion little guy, sorry if it upset you.....The only other ones that are even semi interesting is the Honda Fit and the Fiesta ST.
why does it have it in manual?
here in australia the cdx is automatic only.. wtf
video needs like a soundtrack lol
Their cameras are better than my eyes 0.0

Best looking car? BMW? Mercedes-Benz? Audi? Bentley? Lamborghini? Ferrari? ...

Tight!
Ass?

It looks like the Forza Motorsport’s garage
What is the mini a ripoff of?

No need for me to tell you to actually read a comment before you post, every one else already y has.......
I love this caar
Nope. How about sharing your opinion since you think mine is a joke?
mía buela maneja más rápido
looks good but not worth 20k+ ... shit even the new 5-door hatchback forte will have 200+ hp...if this thing had 180hp+ then yeah I'd consider it but nope.
I have one its grey
Looks good, but is severely overpriced.
21k? No
No, it's not. Tell your mommy to let you go outside and play instead of trolling youtube.
Maksim Yezhov
The mini is a ripoff.....as in too much money, not enough car. Fiats problem in the 80s was insufficient dealer numbers....It seems to be happening again. I can't even think of the nearest one near me. The abarth looks good but not to justify the nearly $2000 dollar premium.
Nope, didn't forget them. The mini is a ripoff and the abarth will die out with Fiat if they don't sell more cars.
its the only competition to the fiat 500 in the sub-compact category my opnion
Honda fit and all the rest look ugly as hell.
Makes my 1.8T Jetta look fast..
TheAow4321 and your 1.8T Jetta makes my 2.5T XC70 look fast lol. (I know late reply)
RS? what a joke. How about more power for your money. 2013 abarth starts at 22k
The problem is that if you're over 1.80m you cannot fit in the Abarth. Not even talking about other passengers.
Yeah and the second you say "why not _____ instead" someone can just counter your counter. You don't get cool boy points for knowing another car exists.
belle wawwwwwww
Too much noise.
This car is just a rebadged Toyota Yaris S. So in other words, shit.
This is the 2013 version of the Chevy Chevette.
