A Walk through the Greek Village of Megalochori on Santorini Island

And here we are on one of our day trips out from the, Explorer of the Seas cruise ship, anchored off Santorini in the Greek Island archipelago.
The village is perched on the old lava outflows on the heights above the sea. It largely relies on floods of summer tourists. As a fall back the villagers grow grapes make wines and cultivate cherry tomatoes. Summer sun can normally be anything between 23C-30C. This is pleasant but winter storms and winds are not. Winter temperatures fall to between 13 C- 16C.
The small squat houses are white washed to reflect the sun. There is little rain.
