Violin or Piano? I think Violin is better and Piano comes in second. Then again, I love the sad sounding music. The lyrics are referring to a children's show on T.V. in Germany with the Sandman coming at night with a story for you to listen to while you sleep. But his story is that when your head hits the pillow here comes the demon to look at your minor body under the covers and you are not there to stop him looking at all he wishes to look at and now his heart is on fire as he stares at your prepubescent body as he has lifted the covers to admire all you have for him to enjoy.
Yes, beautiful child. The piano expresses more emotion than the violin, but the violin expresses sadness so much better than piano. He has acting skill and professional skill at showing what he desires. It is no good though. Here is the sort of piano you should listen to and enjoy. It is about a deaf girl who believes she made her father leave the family for she is unworthy of being in the family and is bullied in elementary school, but then she is loved by her bully and loves him and associates him with her father who she wants to win. ruclips.net/video/S4RALfgWHbo/видео.html
Til was once asked by an American what the lyrics of Rammstein are about. He answered: "It's always about love". What he didn't say, mostly it's about the dark side of love, about possession, violence, ...
this version always gives me the impression its sung from the perspective of the nightmare/demon that hates to make the children suffer but needs to to survive (pressing their tears into his veins) compared to the other version where the song is presented from the kids perspective.
Yup that's pretty much spot on. It's the meaning behind the smile in the video. He's smiling in an attempt to alleviate the children's fear of him as they view him as a monster not aware that he's trying to help them. But the smile does nothing to hide the pain and suffering in his eyes and in fact only makes him more off-putting.
As a german, it's hard to explain Rammstein lyrics to people. The literary devices used in the lyrics are so sophisticated (literary high-german) that they lose meaning and depth quickly. This one in particular is built on a collection of german fairytales, including the east-german show "das sandmaenchjen" (the sand-man). It's a kid's good-night TV show that you watch before going to bed as a young child. BTW german fairy tales are notoriously violent and frightening and very often end in the death of the protagonist (usually a child that did something they weren't supposed to do). Specifically this song is about an entity ("The voice inside the pillow") that rules all the deamons, ghosts and dark-fairies that creep out of the cellar everynight to look under the bedsheets and steal the tears of cyring children in order to bring them back to him so that he can survive (he needs the tears in his veins to help him). But still he is willing to the rip the heart from his chest and give it to the children, his heart being one of the stars up in the night sky.
Once I read that it’s about a German folkloric creature who lives in the dreams, the lyrics are from the perspective of that creature, like, it’s cursed to scare people but he doesn’t want to and that’s why after smiling his face looks like he’s sad
The cuts are real but he didn't cut himself for the video. It's the scars from when he was in the East German swimming team (they used to take a lot of steroid which left those marks on the skin). They just added paint to enhance them
He is probably also a masochist. Many many of their songs have to do with bdsm. I wouldn't be surprised if he is a masochist. BTW I'm not saying it's a bad thing at all. I'm just saying cuz it would make sense
In this version Till takes the roll of Sandman, a being that gives ppl and especially kids dreams or nightmares, so the fact that he looks like a demon along with the sadness in his tone is probably to portray that even if the sandman gives kids nightmares it's to help them
The song is about the processing of "childhood dreams", which repeat themselves over and over again and which one still has as an adult ..... watch the original music video, then you will realize it ... great reaction
As a Dutchman, growing up with German music and tv-shows and being into hardrock and heavy metal from young age, I got intrigued by Rammstein easily. Their showmanship, shock value and crowd control is amazing. I once tried to translate some of their songs into Dutch (Ich tu Dir weh, Sonne, Buck Dich and others) but it didn't sound as good as in German. Even worse, at times it brought out most scary thoughts in my mind. In a good way. That was the most scary part of it. Maybe you can do a reaction on the acoustic live-version of Engel when they only use two pianos. A very, very beautiful rendition.
even in dutch it is not translatable properly ... since Rammstein does poetry ... it does work to a degree but when u look at 5 different languages u see u can't just translate poetry
I'm one of those classical music geeks. When Rammstein first hit it big in the U.S. there were more than a few people who dismissed it as heavy club music without much substance. When I hear things like this, it's like they're tapping into a lot of orchestral, and theatrical history.
@@rosshart9514 Yeah, I have noticed aspects of the slower supporting melodies that have that Wagnerian feel. Things like the string sounds in the calmer sections of Mutter.
"Liebe Kinder, gebt fein acht! Ich hab' euch etwas mitgebracht." was the opening line for a popular, if not the most popular kids show, named "Das Sandmännchen" (little sandman) I don't know if it's still a thing, but everyone watched it before going to bed.
Rammstein and Till Lindemann are all about artistic visuals, in videos and live. The makeup is so great. This song is originally a heavy one, but this version really let's you hear that he can sing very well!
There's a reference to a German tv series for children, which has been around since ~1960. It is called "Sandmann", a figure who will let you fall asleep by "dispersing sand" into your eyes. Young children (including myself back then) often watched this series before going to bed, like a ritual. Now the reference here is "Nun liebe Kinder, gebt fein Acht..." which Rammstein use in this particular song, but with a twist... telling about nightmares including demons, ghosts and black (dark) faeries, which will return night after night after night. Some room for interpretation is left, of course. I'm sure you are less confused by now, with all these comments and getting to know Rammstein better.
Like me, Till grew up in the GDR, we carried our hearts on our souls... Acting was more of a basic subject at school in the Federal Republic of Germany...
Till is a genius he dont need any acting lessons. In my oppinion hes just real. I think he can feel a lot of pain. In german it would be called "weltschmerz".
You're not the only one who sees it that way. I think his bandmates feel the same way. Although he can also be very funny. He's just a lot more layered.
Fantastic reaction! For a little insight into the song, here is a bit from the wikipedia article: "The song's lyrics involve a narrator describing the terrors of nightmares. The opening line of the song's intro and chorus (Nun, liebe Kinder, gebt fein Acht. Ich habe euch etwas mitgebracht, meaning "Now, dear children, pay attention. I have brought something for you") is taken from the German children's TV show Sandmännchen ("Mr Sandman"), which provided children with a bedtime story. The song's narrator appears as a darker version of the character."

Hello there. First thing first. I love your reactions. When Till smiles I could tell you where a bit scare and I wanted to hug you right there and there. 😆 This is the third one of your videos and I´m already a fan. About the song, the song has many double meanings, like most Rammstein songs, and this one in partiicular change from one version to the other. The regular song is powerfull and is like a horror story, even the video. This one is like a lullaby until you undertend the lirycs. You can argue this would be the most creepy lullaby if "Tilli Boom" did not existed. And yes Till is a natural actor, but he has made some profesional acting too. I want to see you doing more Rammstein, but also you have to check "Who is gonna be the one" by Jinjer; and The Phantom of the Opera by Nigthwhis, and the list goes on. Keep on going you are doing great, and if I may say so, you are so beatiful and cute
The song opening lyrics are derived from an (at this point) old kids' TV show meant for the time for them to go to bed. However Rammstein have twisted the meaning of the words, implying all kinds of horrifying interpretations.
this version is beautiful ...... I'm looking forward to it .... but also the official music video of the original version is amazing ....... I can only recommend you .......😊👏🤟
I was doing a marathon of reactions from videos that I like and I came to this channel, I started with the first video and in this one you got my subscribe, I like the way you put what you're feeling and I feel represented.
To answer your question about the makeup, it takes about an hour, maybe two, to get everything to this level. Really depends on the crew that is on location.
Great reaction! I'm afraid to imagine how you will react to "buck dich"... a song of the late 90s. A driving track and an unexpected performance ..)) Rammstein is not only fire and fireworks!)

Sein Herz brennt, bis er verschwindet. Nur ein hauchdünnes Wölkchen steigt aus seiner Gruft auf. Das ideale Nachtlied zum einschlafen. Fröhliche Alpträume, Kinder......;)
Now, dear children, pay attention I am the voice from the pillow I brought something to you Have cut it from my breast With this heart i have the power To blackmail your eyes I sing till the day wakes up A bright shine at the heavens sky My heart burns They come to you at night Deamons, ghosts and black fairies They crawl up from the cellar rows and will take a lok under your bed Little children listen on I am the voice from the pillow I braught something to you A bright shine at the heavens sky My heart burns They come to you at night And steal your little hot tears They wait till the moon awakes And push them in my cold venes Little children listen on I am the voice from the pillow I sing till the day awakes A bright shine at the heavens sky My heart burns
I think that there can be a multiple readings for this song (including the "official one") but in general this song is about fear and pain and some sort of loneliness I think... Btw, those scars on Till's chest and arms are real. He mead the cuts to add more authenticity to this video.
Hi I am from Germany. he is an evil caricature of the sandman (in germany the sandman brings the children little goodnight stories) . in the deeper meaning it is the depression. the song is about how when we go to sleep all the nasty or bad thoughts start to keep us awake and stuck in our heads.
"Fun" Fact: The lyrics "Nun liebe Kinder, gebt fein Acht, ich hab euch etwas mitgebracht" are from the kids show "Der Sandmann" (The Sandman) which was a show Parents showed before going to bed. Me included 😄
the narrator/singer is the "Sandman" who either protects children from their nightmares or lures them to a state of terror.......Mein Herz Brennt = "My Heart Burns ( is burning ) ".......
If you take a look at the 'other' version of this video, this appears to have a take on orphanage is east Germany prior to the Wall coming down, and possibly what the members of Rammstein felt.
Till Lindemann has acted in several movies...i read he also took opera lessons but not sure if it was for this song or just in general?? At the very end right before the last light goes out you can see his soul/ spirit leave/ascend upwards... The original mein herz brennt video I read that is about abuse at an orphanage and not sure if based on an actual event. Till plays a character who was an orphan himself there and left and promised to come back and help the kids being abused but when he sings im the voice from the pillow i believe he is trying to comfort them..since a pillow is naturally associated with comfort thats why i believe he's actually a good person/character...also in the other video theres a scene where the lady from the orphanage has a rather evil/devious look IMO....this video and the original one can be interpreted so many different ways but thats the beauty of Rammstein they leave their songs open to different interpretations so that u can take away from it what you want and what helps you...Amazing!! 😍💖
To me it looks sad because his eyes look sad even when he smiles, when it gets louder it feels like he is getting more passionate and less pacifistic (the character in the role he is playing)
Your reaction when you saw Till made me laugh. You are such a pretty and innocent little girl, not at all prepared for this darkness. I hope you stay that pure.
Tills my husband in my dreams lol so sexy. My favorite band. I live in USA. He is an actor. Almost all videos is him acting he was in kids movie too. He plays a thief and brute.
pls watch the normal version of this song and you understand may be. there is also another version of this song 😍 love your reaction btw abo is incomming
To understand this video, you might want to watch the official "MEIN Herz brennt" video. If you don't understand the German language so well, pictures often help better. 😊 Greetings from Regensburg/Germany
I'm not German (French Canadian) and I don't understand the lyrics. I know this song since a couple of years now and I watched so many reaction videos to it that I couldn't tell what my first impression was (it is mixed with other people's impressions). However, it gives me a horror feeling. Obviously, now I know that it's a poem about childen's nightmares. I watched the original clip first and the original clip is also confusing when you don't know German and you didn't read the lyrics translation but there is more horror in the original clip than sadness. In the piano verson, sadness comes to mind because of the piano effect and the tears in his eyes. He's a horror character who's crying and seems to be in distress. By the way, I'm trying to guess where you're from based on your accent and I'm struggling. I'm hesitating but I think it's a Polish/Eastern European (it sounds a little bit Russian?) accent. Maybe I'm totally wrong. lol
Bonsoir Bisscute je vous ai traduit les paroles, mais j'ai gardé les lignes Allemandes, parce que c'est une langue magnifique Good evening Bisscute I translated the lyrics, but I kept the German lines, because it is a beautiful language. Nun liebe Kinder gebt fein acht Now, dear children, be attentive Ich bin die Stimme aus dem Kissen I am the voice of the pillow Ich hab euch etwas mitgebracht I brought you something Hab es aus meiner Brust gerissen I ripped it out of my chest Mit diesem Herz hab ich die Macht With this heart I have the power Die Augenlieder zu erpressen Blackmail your eyelids Ich singe bis der Tag erwacht I sing till dawn Ein heller Schein am Firmament A bright light in the sky Mein Herz brennt my heart burns Sie kommen zu euch in der Nacht They come to you at night Dämonen Geister schwarze Feen Demons, spirits, black fairies Sie kriechen aus dem Kellerschacht They crawl out of the cellar Und werden unter euer Bettzeug sehen And look under your sheets Nun liebe Kinder gebt fein acht Now, dear children, be attentive Ich bin die Stimme aus dem Kissen I am the voice of the pillow Ich hab euch etwas mitgebracht I brought you something Ein heller Schein am Firmament A bright light in the sky Mein Herz brennt Mon cœur brûle
Hello Bisscute ! Ty for the reactions, i would REALLY suggest you to check out ELUVEITIE. This is something special (but showable to viewers of course) and i think you will like it because it's still good music. You should start with the song called REBIRTH, and then ATEGNATOS, THE CALL OF THE MOUNTAINS and then KING. And if you really want to push it you can continue with INIS MONA, LUXTOS, THOUSANDFOLD, and my favorite CALLING THE RAIN. Really, give it a try, you won't regret it ! ^^

When someone says Rammstein, it means ART - not only official videos, but live concerts as well.
As a german, it's hard to explain Rammstein lyrics to people. The literary devices used in the lyrics are so sophisticated (literary high-german) that they lose meaning and depth quickly.

The cuts on Till's body are real. He cut himself for the video added. Everything for his art.
He literally cut off his own head to make Deutschland, the man is totally committed.

I think that there can be a multiple readings for this song (including the "official one") but in general this song is about fear and pain and some sort of loneliness I think... Btw, those scars on Till's chest and arms are real. He mead the cuts to add more authenticity to this video.
sooooo good. the video and the reaction
i love your reaction at @12:55.....!
I always say that's the moment when the "jocker" has a heart attack out of fear
You should check out Til Lindemann`s solo project to. It`s great
Hi
I am from Germany. he is an evil caricature of the sandman (in germany the sandman brings the children little goodnight stories) . in the deeper meaning it is the depression. the song is about how when we go to sleep all the nasty or bad thoughts start to keep us awake and stuck in our heads.
"Fun" Fact: The lyrics "Nun liebe Kinder, gebt fein Acht, ich hab euch etwas mitgebracht" are from the kids show "Der Sandmann" (The Sandman) which was a show Parents showed before going to bed. Me included 😄
No actinglessons and he cryed in the beginning of the clip, he is a poëet,and it 's a song about black dreams of children.
the narrator/singer is the "Sandman" who either protects children from their nightmares or lures them to a state of terror.......Mein Herz Brennt = "My Heart Burns ( is burning ) ".......
The cuts on Till Lindemann are real ❤🖤
German Lesson. Nr. ^^ .. er spricht sehr klar... ^^
So its like a gem that you are its stuning to look at❤
this is how far art can go no further...
Está canción me encoje el corazón
he's a great singer and he's also an actor!
Another great reaction to another awesome Rammstein performance ☺💕🤘🏻💯🔥
First time im seeing this girl and I'm pretty sure she's Russian and absolutely gorgeous
Only Till ❤️❤️❤️
If you take a look at the 'other' version of this video, this appears to have a take on orphanage is east Germany prior to the Wall coming down, and possibly what the members of Rammstein felt.
my all time favorite 😍
The performance and song are amazing 🖤
Right? love it ❤️
Omg i would like to sit with you, drinking beer or wine and talk about music and Rammstein :)
You and your voice... really cute
To hear his vocal talent you probably have to check out Ich Tu Dir Weh for example (live!) which is anyway definitely worth reacting/watching.
You are cute ❤♥🌸🌼🌹🌺 is disturbing, jaaaaa thats Rammstein 😃thank You so much for Your reaction
That's not makeup that's his real face.
if i remember it correct, till is a trained opera singer also
It starts in childhood.
He plays a thief and brute.
one part of the song is the story of 'The sandman' from E.T.A Hoffmann...
Ich Liebe Rammstein 😍💞💞
Great.
Nur ein bisschen Deutsche shprichta, eh? Ich wusste! Du bist Genieeee!
God bless Texas!!!
pls watch the normal version of this song and you understand may be. there is also another version of this song 😍 love your reaction btw abo is incomming
WHAT MAKES U THINK THOSE ARENT REAL TEARS….
To understand this video, you might want to watch the official "MEIN Herz brennt" video. If you don't understand the German language so well, pictures often help better. 😊 Greetings from Regensburg/Germany
he reminded me of the ghost from Hamlet.
Joker + Pennywise :-)
Maybe I'm totally wrong. lol
Bonsoir Bisscute je vous ai traduit les paroles, mais j'ai gardé les lignes Allemandes, parce que c'est une langue magnifique
Good evening Bisscute I translated the lyrics, but I kept the German lines, because it is a beautiful language.
Nun liebe Kinder gebt fein acht
Now, dear children, be attentive
Ich bin die Stimme aus dem Kissen
I am the voice of the pillow
Ich hab euch etwas mitgebracht
I brought you something
Hab es aus meiner Brust gerissen
I ripped it out of my chest
Mit diesem Herz hab ich die Macht
With this heart I have the power
Die Augenlieder zu erpressen
Blackmail your eyelids
Ich singe bis der Tag erwacht
I sing till dawn
Ein heller Schein am Firmament
A bright light in the sky
Mein Herz brennt
my heart burns
Sie kommen zu euch in der Nacht
They come to you at night
Dämonen Geister schwarze Feen
Demons, spirits, black fairies
Sie kriechen aus dem Kellerschacht
They crawl out of the cellar
Und werden unter euer Bettzeug sehen
And look under your sheets
Nun liebe Kinder gebt fein acht
Now, dear children, be attentive
Ich bin die Stimme aus dem Kissen
I am the voice of the pillow
Ich hab euch etwas mitgebracht
I brought you something
Ein heller Schein am Firmament
A bright light in the sky
Mein Herz brennt
Mon cœur brûle
Look "Adieu"
I reacted to that, feel free to check it out ❤
Hello Bisscute ! ^^
If you like piano plus a great performance, please react to Havasi doing Golden Eagle!!!
