My day to day commute is 18.6 miles or 9.3 miles each way. In the warmer parts of the year I can get to work and back home on electric with maybe one short engine run. During the cold months 9.3 miles will use about 75% of my battery partly because of the heater. I will also get more short engine runs despite trying to avoid them. From November until February I will likely get FORM once a month. There is just to much stop and go traffic combined with hills. To clear my FORM I will put it in e-save for my trip home then leave it running in the driveway. It will normally clear in about 30 minutes. The key is to keep the engine at 195 degrees or above for thirty minutes. Turning the heater off helps a lot.
Yeah already got form here in Canada. Start to get cold here. Was able to clear it easy this time as it is still not too cold. Im sure will be stock in form all winter again and use to it now. Im more worry about the fast drop down to 0% oil life in a few day that i have experience the last 2 winter. Was definitely cause by software update as was not an issue on the first winter. Will see if still and issues this winter.
I would be very interested in the video showing how to check pids using j-scan to see why one is in Form. I've already had Form last week for the first time this fall. I drove the vehicle a few mornings in sub 32F mornings and sure enough it showed it ugly head. Took the Jeep on a 50 mile cruise and it went away. Never had Form all summer.
Ever since the update that made E-mode stay active , the refresh mode has yet to come back . I’ve driven 20,000 mi in Electric and 4,000 on gas since then
I wish I had known about all these issues before I purchased my 4Xe because I would have never purchased it. I don't know how they expect us to accept this new technology with so many problems. I recently purchased my 4Xe, and within a week, I find out about the recall regarding a major battery issue that could cause my vehicle to catch fire. Now I can't recharge it or park it in my garage. They even say it can happen while driving.I absolutely love this vehicle, but the battery and hybrid system are very concerning to the point where I regret making this purchase. I feel I have no options but to wait for a resolution.
Can't seem to find it right now (I am old and my memory isn't as good as it used to be), but I remember seeing FORM in one of the manuals somewhere, and they said it was a mode that corrects excessive oil dilution from gasoline that passes into the oil system and condenses thereby diluting the oil. Not good for lubrication of cylinder walls, turbo charger bearings, camshaft and camshaft follower lubrication due to the change in oil viscosity caused by the gasoline. Running the engine to heat the oil to 160 deg. F or higher will help drive the gasoline out of the fuel thereby "rejuvenating" the oil. I will try to find the reference. I am certain that oil dilution of this nature is a concern because I have seen a discussion of it in aircraft engine manuals for turbocharged aircraft engines that I have been involved with over the years. (Did I mention that my memory isn't what it used to be??? 😆🤣😂😁😄)
I have a question for the group, I just purchased a 24 Willys 4xe and will be parking it outside in the cold Erie Pa weather. I haven't received a 95b recall cross my fingers Should I fully charge my jeep and run it in E-save for the real cold months to hope to avoid the FORM notice. My wife has a 23 Sahara 4xe which she has had for 1 1/2 years and she has never had the form notice but she keeps hers in the garage thank you Bruce Lawrence
@@laurie3108 The key thing with eSave is that you are saving the battery for later. There’s no other real benefit to eSave. I’d charge it and drive it like normal.
Thanks for your usual excellent explanations !! The FORM situation is now understood !! Phil
This year's FORM with the recall is just another day for way too many of us. All gas baby! UGh.

@@rv6amark If that’s what you call a bad memory, mine must be horrible.
