It just occurred to me that The Hunger Games and Battle Royale aren't just based off of The Lord of the Flies. It's also based off of The Long Walk, too. It's an insane, sad, horrible story. I feel like there's a Twilight Zone about this as well but I can't think of it right now. Haha

They can be quite different as the English CC is the Closed Captions for the dub, not the original Korean version. having said that, the English subs do lose a lot in translation as well but not as bad as the English CC.

I'm no stranger to death games and Battle Royale-type of stories but this one is refreshingly interesting. There's something so creepy about turning child's play into deadly games, they evoke the sweet memories of my childhood just to twist it completely and it messes with me.

So the 100,000 he got from getting slapped around was worth $82 US and the 4.5 million he won on the horses and lost to the pickpocket was $3800 US. The big prize for the Squid Game however is 45.6 billion which is 38 million US.

I am impressed that you watched Squid Game in South Korean. I wouldn’t survive this or any other apocalyptic game. I am not a cunning strategist. I am too simple. I trust people too much. The production quality of the game sets are really good. South Korean dramas are always interesting.
i dont know why some people like alice in borderland. i watched it because people kept talking about it and it was so bad. The actors were bad, it was unrealistic and the games were lame. Nothing compared to squid game.
For currency, it's easy estimation if you just get rid of last 3 digits and count it as US Dollar (1,000 Won = 1 Dollar, Billion Won = Million Dollar etc). So slap game was $100 per round.
But better 😭 ! Apparently the director started writing this in 2008, and in 2009 he handed it over to studios but they all rejected it. There’s a Japanese movie based on a manga called, “As The God’s Will” which also has some similarities. However it cannot relate to Squid Game. The characters from Squid game are more relatable to every-day people, and they had a choice to play or to stop the game. They were also given the option to not come back, but a lot did just to get out of their debt regardless if they’re putting their life on the line !
