This is fantastic. For those surprised that something like this is at all possible in a bandoneon, they should keep in mind that the bandoneon was invented (in Germany, by Heinrich Band in mid-19th century) as a portable organ, so to speak, in order to play church music. That was the very idea of the instrument's existence. So playing something like this piece by Bach, originally written for the organ, is actually going back to the original purpose of the instrument.
I don't play the bandoneon, but I have read about it, and knowing what I know, that unlike a keyboard instrument where notes are linear, the keys are all randomly scattered, so a player has to be figuratively married to his or her instrument, and on top of that, that buttons have two notes depending on when the bellows are opening or closing, I must say, how absolutely amazing and awe-inspiring. Sacrifices had to be made as obviously the bandoneon has a more limited range than a pipe organ, not to mention the bandoneon player can't use all 10 fingers, but even so, I must say, it was a treat and a joy to listen to. The amount of concentration it must have taken to learn this entire piece is to be commended. It's not easy playing a piece meant for a keyboard on the random, scattered buttons of the bandoneon. Only a crazed genius could. Rock on, you crazy genius.
What a pleasure to see that someone has done his research work 👏. Yes, the diatonic bandonion is a true nightmare; so much so, that Piazzolla defined it (word for word) as: "The most diabolical invention ever made by Man, and just to WANT to play it you have to be totally mad" So my friend, you have hit the nail on the head. You have understood the real difficulty of this mad machine. You get full marks 👍👏 This is the second recording I have heard of the entire Toccata and Fugue BWV 565 on the bando. The other one was by a very young Chinese player- much less expressive. It's a phenomenal feat and a challenge that very few can take up. Claudio is extremely gifted and an excellent musician AND composer- that helps. Greetings from France
Not only can this instrument emulate an organ better than I imagined, this performance is actually superb as well. This piece is so often played without feeling, or rushed. You played it dynamically and from the heart, excellent!
I really love this piece. I never get bored hearing this one. We even let the organist play this at our wedding. The church had a beautiful organ out of that time period and it never got used in its full glory so i just had to request that piece. We let him play it at the end and just as i hoped a lot of people stayed in their seat just listening to bach and being in awe. They never knew the organ they hear every sunday could sound so beautifully. It might have been a strange request for a wedding but i couldnt think of any other piece that would give me so much joy and full hearth

You are right, I can not have enough of it. In fact, it ruined my piano playing. Since 2019 I have been practicing this on the piano ( a lot harder as keys are heavier). I am 3/4 through it and have been stuck since 2022. My hands and arms get so achy I have to stop. I neglected all other piano peices I know and only play this for the last 2 years. My household is now so fed up, But I can not fall out of love with it.

This is an outstanding example of a Bach transcription. I am in utter amazement and awe. Playing this piece on a diatonic bandonion is feat of mental and physical gymnastics. Even Piazzolla himself could not have played half of this! You have my full respects Maestro.
@frankrault3190 Sorry mate, Piazzolla's own particular genius was his phenomenal gift for improvisation, and his own style of rubato playing- just like Chopin. However, he never, EVER, played any classical compositions, and certainly not any transcription. Exactly how much do you know about the four totally different keyboards of the AA (Alfredo Arnold) diatonic bandoneon? Very little I believe. Have you ever watched Astor play??? He spent his entire life playing ONLY on the pull stroke of his instrument- thus using only half of its potential. If you are not a bandonion player yourself, you should refrain from non technical comments. Piazzolla was NOT, EVER a classical musician. When he tried his hand at "serious" composing, his teacher, Nadia Boulanger had to tell him the truth: he was not destined, and unable to do this. She told him to go back to the draughting board, and write the POPULAR music of his country: the Argentinian Tango. He was a much more fabulous instrumentalist than a composer. He died in 1993, and since, dozens of extremely talented young musicians have taken the bandonion far beyond him. Yes, he was a Master musician, but new talent (as above) is soaring to new heights. I am truly impressed by Claudio's immense talent, and his vast versatility. He is also a pianist and complex composer. Look up his piano videos. This incredible performance is created with just four fingers of each hand and his arms. It is absolutely incredible. As an old compatriot of mine used to say, It Is A Miracle!

I admit that I just started this video because this is one of my favorite organ pieces and I was prepared to stop listening after a few moments. Was I ever wrong! This is one of the best renditions I have heard in my lifetime. The dynamic and tempo is superb and I even closed my eyes and had the mental image of an organ. Thank you for that experience!

Some of the pedal notes are missed. Still mind blowing because some of the pedal notes are there ... I dunno how... well I do know how but just - the range and timbre of the instrument in the hands of this master blew me away. The rhythm is also kept perfectly - every organ player I heard except one is not as good at this song.
If Bach were alive, he would have said "Fantastisch!" Truly masterful job. It was my father's favorite Bach piece and he listened to all types of performances of it. He passed away over 20 years ago and when I saw this in my feed, I had to watch it and all throughout I knew my father would have loved it. Thank you so much.
Wow this is among the coolest things I've ever seen. The tone and timbre of this instrument really does the piece justice and the playing is otherworldly.
I'm not sure why the algorithm served this video up to me, but as a musician myself, I have to say this was absolutely fantastic! I'm especially impressed at how much you managed to keep of all the independent voices in the fugue... and all without the use of your feet! 😅 Bravo.
Mind-blowing dexterity and precision! So many notes, so quickly, and all by touch on a non-linear button array...with both hands! This is skill beyond many musicians. And, how you can do this without extreme carpel tunnel injury is amazing.
Wow. I am so impressed by how beautifully the individual voices were highlighted. The occasional ornamentation was very tasteful and the the rubato was appropriate and all in all an absolutely captivating interpretation of a timeless and incredibly flexible composition.

This is a piece I never get tired of, and the series of suspended chords melting into each other right at the end always sends chills through me - I was afraid this humble little box wouldn’t do it justice, but that was one of the best performances I’ve heard! I’m blown away by how easy you made such a difficult thing look!
Midst all the rampant hyperbole you, my friend, speak the unarguable truth. Bravo! BTW. The acoustics of the venue were superb, just the right touch of concert hall echo.
To witness someone who has complete mastery of such an instrument is absolutely inspiring... and to someone such as myself who has 2 left hands and 10 thumbs, absolutely amazing! Very well done, sir! Cheers, jc
Every masterpiece is a pure algorithm, very well written. It's beautiful how those great composers were really geniuses, putting all those notes together with the intention of evoking sensations, telling a story, describing a scene, a moment; everything. Only with notes, arranged in chords, with the just right tempo, and a just right duration; syntactically correct, with impeccable semantics. Hearing it, it's so obvious how things are put together in order to work. However, when you think about how to put them together, it's so hard. We really should praise it every time we hear someone playing these masterpieces because it's not only hard to compose but to play them too, especially with such a challenging instrument.
I have always loved this song. It's so dark and deep but filled with moments of light airy and playful gestures. I have never heard it on an accordion. In fact, I didn't even know it was possible. It sounds divine.
This brought tears to my eyes cause when I was younger I learned to play this song in its entirety on piano at 16. To hear my most favorite song that speaks to my soul, thank you and bless you.
This is absolutely stunning indeed! I’ve always thought that if the great Bach had known the accordion or (bandoneon) he would’ve written hundreds of pieces for it. A portable organ - that must’ve been his very dream.
Hello, I'm from Argentina, I just saw a video on Instagram and went straight to your channel. simply thank you for your existence, your love of music, your talent and dedication. your works are sublime. thank you very much

Utterly speechless....... as a classical pianist dabbling in organ works now and again, I could NEVER in my wildest dreams have imagined Toccata being played on a bandoneon. I have no words.... Fantastic maestro!! You have gone far beyond the acceptable limits!!! Kudos for your brilliant effort invested in crossing the boundaries!
Die Kunst der Fuge is a perfect example of why JSB was the greatest composer of all time. All of the incomplete work was to him...an experiment. This level of work was a test for him. His understanding of music was beyond anything I can imagine.
Bach was an incomparable genius. This song is over 300 years old, yet still sounds modern (depending on the instrument). True genius is timeless.😉
And the player .?
bach one of the top if not the top composer ever.
👏👏👏👏👏 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
Mil gracias!
@@ConstantiniMusic Gracias a ti...! 🙏
✨️🎶🎵🙂
That is the most amazing performance I have seen in a long time!!!! Bravo!!!!
Thanks!
This is a piece I never get tired of, and the series of suspended chords melting into each other right at the end always sends chills through me - I was afraid this humble little box wouldn’t do it justice, but that was one of the best performances I’ve heard! I’m blown away by how easy you made such a difficult thing look!
Thanks so much
Wow. This is so good. Bach would be proud. It's an amazingly expressive instrument.
This is the BEST and I mean the BEST version of Bach's masterpiece I have heard. Amazingly done!
Thank you so much!
As I listened to this masterpiece, you have me a new appreciation for both the music and your beautiful instrument. Wow
Midst all the rampant hyperbole you, my friend, speak the unarguable truth. Bravo!
BTW. The acoustics of the venue were superb, just the right touch of concert hall echo.
Novel instrument well played but I prefer traditional keyboard perfs. Bravo!
Excellent. A great one ALSO is from SKY
I will never for the life of me understand how you keep track of all those buttons
Muscle memory helps 😊
Excelente
To witness someone who has complete mastery of such an instrument is absolutely inspiring... and to someone such as myself who has 2 left hands and 10 thumbs, absolutely amazing! Very well done, sir!
Cheers,
jc

I like to imagine the same :)
There were Portative Organs, but they had limited range so I think he would very much have liked the Squeezebox!
This rendition points up the timelessness of this brilliant piece. It could have been written today-it gives me goosebumps listening to it.
Wow!! I never knew one of those Squeeze Boxes could put out that quality of sound!😲 I LOVE this!🤩
Amazing. A true maestro playing the music of another maestro! How lucky we are to get to experience this.
Hello, I'm from Argentina, I just saw a video on Instagram and went straight to your channel. simply thank you for your existence, your love of music, your talent and dedication.
your works are sublime. thank you very much
Some videos can play in the background without the need to stop whatever else you have going on... And some... like 1 in a Million, will have you halting everything to focus 110% on the incredible amazement that is this video! A truly beautiful arrangement & Performance!!
Die pure Extase - perfekt !!
J. S. Bach wäre sicher begeistert 😊
Thank you very much!
Thank you very much!

My husband and I were transfixed by the amazing sound emanating from that instrument! Wow!!
Thank you
Die Kunst der Fuge is a perfect example of why JSB was the greatest composer of all time.
All of the incomplete work was to him...an experiment. This level of work was a test for him. His understanding of music was beyond anything I can imagine.
Thank you for this wonderful video to all the music lovers of the world. Respected Maestro

This is like Eddie Van Halen on accordion. I never knew that this instrument is this impressive!
This is one of the most absolutely gorgeous renditions I've ever heard. Incredible.
Thank you!

The accordion on the knees are fun to if you are old thinking about your silly sacral joint.
