    I was fascinated by this show and the books i read growing up. Fast forward to 2017, an i'm in Gatlinburg Tn, with my grandchildren visiting the Ripley's Believe it or not Museum. They love it, so i guess i'm passing the torch. Ripley lives on.

      I grew up reading Ripley in the Sunday funnies. Grandma used to read it to me before I was able to read. Another good program was You Asked For It.

      Also, I like to see if all the episodes get to be digitally remastered in 4K! 😊

    When you did the segment on bees, it made me remember helping my father " rob the bees". He wore everyday clothes no special hat with netting or anything. He never got stung. He had a very soft brush he used to brush them off the comb before cutting it off the frame. I got to help. I can remember standing by him holding a big pan to put the honey in when a bee would land on me. I would be standing there saying, "Daddy. Daddy I got a bee on me. Get him off. Get him off, Daddy !" He would calmy brush the bee away and I never got stung either. I wasn't as brave as him though. I always covered my hair and wore rubber bands on my wrist and ankles so they couldn't crawl inside my clothes. I was a little nervous the first time, but he made me promise to stay calm and not scream or jump around. He said as long as I didn't act excited or scared, the bees wouldn't feel threatened and attack. I guess he was right. He also said bright colors seemed to excite them more than pale ones. At that time, you could order bees through the mail. They came in a little wire box with the queen in a little compartment inside the box. He would carry the little box out to the hive and find the queen and put her in and all the bees would fly out of the box and into the hive. One time, we had a hive swarm. With part of the hive will leave with a new queen. They were on a tree and my father literally combed through them, found the queen and put her in a new hive. When you are carrying the queen, you have bees covering your hands. How he could do this amazed me. There is no way I could have walked around with bees covering my hands to take them to a hive

    I would love to have these "woodblock" looking illustrations as tattoos. I remember going to the Ripleys down south near Knotts Berry Farm with my cousin and sister. We reached this one spot where there was a mirror that dared people to make funny faces. It was weird that it was just there. I knew what it was by hunch and I gave the mirror "the bird" and we continued and finally got to the point where it revealed that it truly was a 2-way mirror. I felt good that I didn't fall for the trick. We stood there for a minute looking at all the people making faces in the mirror.

    • @HintonBE
      @HintonBE 6 лет назад +1

      He says the quote correctly. Many people often misquote it and say "beast" instead of "breast". From the same play, The Mourning Woman, we also get the misquoted line "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned." It's actually:
      "Heaven has no rage, like love to hatred turned,
      Nor hell a fury, like a woman scorned."
      The more you know....

    • @morrighanwermarn-arnburg7333
