Sending all our love to those affected by this awful weather on the North Island. Our hearts go out to you. Stay safe. Kia kaha lovely people, Liz and Bri xx ❤🇳🇿
You two crack me up! I must admit Liz, I'm impressed by Brian's tent sweeping ethos. Surely you thank him for that when you open up a lovely clean tent the next time 😁
@@ItsaDrama How else are you going to know that you're folding it in the right spot, then?? 😄 I wonder, though, don't the old fold marks still show up after you've taken down the tent? Oh well; there are campers and non-campers. No harm in being one or the other. 😊
I miss Kiwi camping so much, hooning around NZ in our dads old Ford wagon towing the old 22 ft Caravan, the smell of the old style ultra heavy leather tents when they get wet. Ahhh the memories.
It's the meticulous people, that maintain their tents, that have that tent in perfect operating condition for the next twenty years. The folks who toss that tent into the back of the car to "get to it later" end up opening it the next year only to find that the leaves left there have rotted the fabric, the seams are leaking, and the stitching's coming undone. Not to mention myriad crushed insect bodies. I'm with Bri!!
Hope the storms didn't hit you too badly up there we are certainly a country of two halfs up in the North Island storms and flooding down in the South Island droughts I have never seen Dunedin so dry in my 53 years.
Absolutely got to sweep everything out and brush the bottom, also dry with old towel. The tent will last longer. Also I don't think you wabt to fold it exactly the same each time as you'll be putting stress on the exact same parts each time you pack it away. Same as sleeping bags-they should be stuffed not rolled to avoid putting stress on the same folds each time.
Finished filming for news 2 days of harrowing sights of drama and destruction mid cyclone 😭 In New Plymouth for a week to recover Brian do you guarantee I won't get wet?
Hi guys, you absolutely crack me up!! I laugh so much when I watch your shows. I love hearing about NZ and your stories are so informative and funny! I must have some English in my Welsh/Irish heritage, because I would never brush anyone off like the lady in the cafe, and if someone said that to me, I'd be so hurt, boo hoo. I wish I could be more direct and say what I want without worrying about hurting someone's feelings, but it's just the way I was raised, I guess. I could just visualize that beautiful beach, with the back sparkling sand, it just sounds like something from another world. Wish i could have spotted the sheep! xo
Sending you so much love Sherry! One day you can come to NZ and we will walk along that beach 🥰 Thank you for your constant support, we appreciate you!! x
lol... I feel like I'm sitting outside with you both. I really enjoy your company. Pleased you both stayed safe. I looked at your sheep in the beginning and they looked like pets, so I laughed when you said 'they're pets'
Being a biker that goes to many Bike Rallies... or big party in a paddock...lol I going to be in Brian's side it will help make the tent last longer... We sweep clean out our tents sweep our making sure there are no twigs, stones that can damage, rip or tear a hole in the tent when rolled up etc... also means it is all clean and ready to use next time you want to use it... ( though you may need to air it out afterwards). Hey just because I am from Dunedin I'm not a Nutter.... oh wait ummm never mind... !?
Sorry but I’m with you Bryan. We cannot leave the tenant messy. We dry, sweep and fold correctly before we leave. It is easier to pack up when you get home. It’s not stressful if you make it fun
As a family we went camping in a canvas tent. We always packed up properly so when we got home we were home. All we had to do was return the things to their rightful place. Maybe half and hour. Then a coffee. by shoving things in the car to pack it up at home is a depressing thought.
Nice to finally check out your channel... Good on ya guys! Keep up the great work! Now will have to do the same to guide kiwis around France on holidays... ❤
Sorry Liz I agree with Bri, you pack it away clean and dry so next time you use it it is ready to go and not dirty, dusty or mouldy and yes I'm a man...

Everyone knows someone who has lost everything and is trying to salvage things from the mud and silt. You are lucky to be where you are.
I'll defend Brian on this - I prefer to set up a clean tent than deal with last year's dead bugs and dust. I sweep then zip the doors 😅 easier to set up - quicker to relax or party.
Hi L & B Thanks for adhering to the strict RUclips rules on nudity Bri..... I was as relieved as you were mate! When I was 19/20 I walked most of the length of the South Island (from Queenstown up) I stopped at the campsite in Fairlie for a few days because my grandmother lived in town. It was just after Boxing day and there were a few dozen sitting around a campfire one evening having drinks etc. I caught the eye of a slightly older but very attractive woman. After having a flirty chat for 20mins we started kissing. I noticed a guy kept watching us so I asked if she knew him. She very calmly and matter of factly declared "that's my husband and he likes watching" I very nearly jumped out of my skin! It turns out it was a swingers gathering and they assumed I knew. I made my excuses and retired to my tent. Who would have thought eh?! Swingers in little old Fairlie ! Grandma was astounded when I told her the next day..... anyway...all the best...see you soon!

We walked into naked oldies everywhere. They then seemed to be rather demanding that we got naked aswell. We refused and they kicked us out. Never again!!!!
I moved to Canada from New Zealand over 30 years ago. I quickly found that people found my direct looks either intimidating, threatening, or flirtatious. I stopped being comfortable with looking people directly in the eye, and to this day (still living in Canada) I still don't know how much eye contact to give to people. Moving to another country often means changing cultures, and even the smallest and most unexpected things can throw you off.

Can't stop laughing enough at this, I once went for a walk from Back Beach to Oakura with a couple of friends. We happened upon a group of older nudists around half way and we tried to mind our own business...they all felt the need to call out and say hello and be the friendliest they could be! As teenagers we were freaked out and ignored them and picked up our pace, as a 38 year old now I'd just have a laugh and have a chat with them! Love your vids Liz and Brian!

It was pretty intense in west Auckland this week. No power or internet for days. Friends north of us still no power days later and still no indication when it will be reinstated. Meditation centre on generator. The nude story reminds me of my time in Germany. A friend bought me half a day at the hot pools. I was due to fly out so she decided we had to go that Saturday. Told me it was nude night. I said No Way, but it was only time. You are not prudes. I was not comfortable. Everyone was just walking around with it all hanging out. I wanted to stay in one pool, but she wanted to go into the spas and saunas and different pools. Gasp.

I grew up in the 1980s near Uretiti beach, otherwise known as "The nude beach". Never saw a naked sunbather (except for the _very_ rare topless) in my life, although I _could have_ if I'd gone to Uretiti (secretly named "The tittie beach" by us kids).
😅look at it this way ( from a kiwi)packing up may be boring for you but!! think ! 20yrs down the track, it will still be well cared for with all components together Make sense? & naked on the beach?? Just say morning & keep walking.gents ? ..he's o n the beach hello! Stop being so English.!your in NZ!!! Bloody he'll.Affection? only amongst friends& family& friends of fam.but, what's important is you & yours& be kind to yourselves & love what you do arohanui.😂❤
The decision to go naked at a beach can often be defined by the cost of sunscreen and how much you have of it, unless you're willing to visit a Molemap clinic every other week.
Sorry Liz, but I am with Bri...you have pack down properly, so set up next time is easy. Nothing worse than having half the gear full of sand when you're trying to put the tent up in the dark!
Born kiwi here. I had no idea that it was legal to be naked on beach here. I've never heard of it happening either until you mentioned it. I think it's most unusual. And I think out of respect that he should have been carrying something with him that he could have quickly covered himself with should he run into someone. Imagine if a child was with you.
Liz, why do you always give Bri such a bad time. You're lucky to have each other. What you do is look at the man's face. Or put your nose in the air like there's a bad smell around. Or tell him his shoes are odd, or would he like a pedicure
Aww ...you know by now that he loves to be wound up...How else would we communicate?? 🤣 Bri's the best sport ever (he just needs to stop sweeping the tent...🤪) Thanks for watching and for saying hello!
Kiwis DO give each others hugs. As a Kiwi in the UK I find people here are much less touchy feely. Also; when you talk about being blunt… you are mistakingly honesty for lying. Brits lie, they are scared to tell the truth and bumble and mumble and bounce around the truth. I have Brits here telling me they’re coming to an event I’m putting on and as a Kiwi I trust them, then low and behold, the day before I get excuses of them not coming. Just be honest and say you’re not coming straight up right away so I don’t get excited. As a kiwi I’d never be insulted. But cancelling the day before or day of with silly excuses is just plain MEAN
Sending all our love to those affected by this awful weather on the North Island. Our hearts go out to you. Stay safe. Kia kaha lovely people, Liz and Bri xx ❤🇳🇿

Yes but Jodene...there's properly and then there's just...properly, properly that takes aaggeeeesss...😉
Um thse women should have helped them set up the tent
They were too busy drinking their wine Julian...🤣
i’m atop fan living in wairoa our town is a disaster area lost so many homes sadly
Only just seen this comment Jane. Sending you much love and strength. We are so sorry for what you have been through. ❤️
It was new to us too Carlin! Thank you for being here and foe sharing your thoughts, have a lovely week ahead! 😊
