    Excellent review. Very clear and helpful.
    I Bought the Haloview RD7 to replace a camera system from Furrion Vision S that had significant drop out issues. Installation was not a problem - powering the camera off the top rear marker light. Swapped out the old mounting brackets for the new ones and ran the transmission cable up to the front of my 26 foot long camper. Mounted the transmitter with liberal amounts of RTV/Silicon.
    Got the monitor hooked up in the cab, powered it up and turned on the marker lights. The camera and monitor paired automatically and provided me a terrific view of my back yard - as expected.
    Finally got to road test it this past weekend on a short camping trip - about 50 miles one way. Camera performed flawlessly the whole way - didn't notice a single drop out and had very little, if any flicker. Decent field of view as well. I can see cars within about 20 feet of my rear bumper and can pick up the entire lane of expressway on either side at about 40 feet back.
    I am VERY satisfied with the performance of this system so far. Big test will be next month with a 1000 mile trip coming up. Looking forward to it.

    I used to have a Haloview observation camera that would always drop out. Customer support just answered "sometimes that's an issue" and good luck. That was on a 26 foot trailer. We now have a 30 ft unit and a Furrion Series 7 with NO issues, no booster! Plus I can put 4 additional camera on (front and rear markers both sides) and have all on screen at once.
    Also, I'm surprised you hadn't changed out your marker bulbs for LED. That's a straight bulb swap and brighter. Only costs a few bucks on Amazon.

      So interesting. Our original Haloview hasn't given us any issues at all and we're 32ft. We were not using a booster on that one. I honestly installed the booster because they sent it to me and it's not a big deal. Took maybe 10 minutes. No LED lights just yet. Don't really see the advantage since I have no need to save energy while hooked to the truck. LED's inside the rig would be worth it if we didn't already have them.

      While my Haloview camera works great for 26 ft trailer and no drop out. Their customer support said if the distance is over 33 ft away from camera to monitor, you'll need to add the range extender they call it TX-Box. Really nice and in-time service!
      I used to try Furrion camera, so expensive! The picture quality and wireless signal not so good as Haloview for sure. Even Furrion's service is bad! Why should I spent much more money but get poor performance and service? I don't think Furrion model will perfom better than Haloview according to my experience. Never buy Furrion again definitely!

    In the shot of the cop car toward the end:
    Was the cop on the driver’s side of you? It was confusing because the side view camera had the cop on the opposite side of the rear view camera image.
    The next shot of you backing up showed the objects all on the same side.

    Why are they using a range extender versus just a cable with an antenna on the roof of the camper? Does one have lag where the other doesn't? I have a 4UCam system and I ran an antenna to the front of my Imagine across the roof and that definitely helped my signal. Just wondering if I switch if I could do the MC7109 Plus with the same antenna I have and be good.

    The whole range extender thing is what is holding me back. I just really don’t like the idea of running a cable across the roof, having to secure the excess cable, and then having to drill to mount the antenna box. I also don’t get why if Haloview’s specs are right you need it. They claim a 1200 foot range for the RD7 system. At 70mph your covering roughly 103’ per second. So there is no way that 1200’ range should be exceeded driving down the road. It seems like there should be a way to have good signal without needing a repeater box.

    • @WanderingWeekends
      @WanderingWeekends  4 года назад +1

      Jet Driver yeah I’m not a fan but once installed it really doesn’t look out of place. So many vents, antennas, skylights, ect on the roof. What’s one more thing gonna hurt? That’s kinda how I look at it. No drilling for the antenna box... that 3m adhesive ain’t going nowhere. The side markers did require new screw holes. Just food for thought.

    • @jetdriver
      @jetdriver 4 года назад +2

      Wandering Weekends thanks for the reply. It’s very good to know that the range extender is a no drill installation. That’s one of my biggest issues because every hole is a probable eventual leak point. It looked like you mounted the extender on the side of the trailer vs the roof. I’m just curious why you choose that position?

      With the antenna box and cable, it reach 1200ft range for Haloview RD7 to fix wireless signal issue for long RVs. Seems that it's a good solution for RVers as other brands don't.

    • @WanderingWeekends

      Personal preference. I felt like mounting them midway would cover more of my blind spot while backing up.

    • @jamesglenn520
      @jamesglenn520 2 года назад

      They should be mounted on the furthest point forward.
      That way you can see the side of the trailer and your tires and wheels.
      If you can't see the tires you won't know where you are backing on the Off Side.
      Off Side is the side you cannot see in your Mirror because you are turning.

  • @burtbennett

    Not a fan of the exposed wire issue. With todays technology, there is no reason that the camera could not "talk" to the repeater wirelessly.

    • @BobPulgino
      @BobPulgino 4 года назад

      The reason is that the cable provides power to both the camera and transmitter. Some might not mind finding and wiring in a power source at both ends of the rig, but some might.

      Yeah, I wanted people to know. I spent nearly $500 for this thing, I contacted them and they just blew me off.
      They advertise 1080, except it doesn't record in 1080 if you have all 4 cameras recording, the actual recording is more like 480.
      It WILL Not loop record, the memory card has to be reformatted to be able to record over it, which means you have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA when it stops recording wile you're driving.
      This thing is ONLY good for a backup camera (not recording) and thats it.
      You email their customer service about it and they want your order number the date and time you ordered it and your name before they can even answer simple questions.
      I told them it was not recording and they actually wanted me to send them video of it NOT recording.......how exactly do you do that?
      It's nothing more than a glorified dash cam.
