30:28 Damon in his own way is saying they need a break. He can’t to be around her rn be cause it’s too difficult for him. They need some time apart before they can be together again.
It is understandable that Damon doesn’t wanna be friends with the girl he’s in love with. He had to say that to her so that way he can have some space and heal. It’s too painful for him right now.
Is it? It was the opposite in earlier seasons when she didn’t want him to love her but he kept pushing to be friends & in a relationship too even though she didn’t want that.
Stefan over Damon always. Stelena over Delena always. But this episode was silly and unnecessary. If you're giving into toxic Delena fan service - then go full speed ahead and let Stefan go. This attempt to cater to Stelena fans is cheap and hurts Stefan's character. Commit to the bs you wrote, and let Stefan be happy.
@@Sandy-w5o they lost way too many viewers after their sirebond and delena shit they had to keep egging Stelena fans to not lose even more 😂 I do love how Elena and Stefan are able to be friends and still love each other regardless of how everything went down, Damon could never. Yes. But I feel like Klaus maybe would’ve killed him because of how sassy Enzo can be sometimes which probably wouldn’t go well with Klaus because he’s also sassy & immature when people go against him or question him. But yeah, it would’ve been interesting had it happened
I like Luke. Wish he had gotten a bigger role. Or at least as much screen time Liv did. They are both of equal importance going forward. Or Luke, even more , I would say
I hate the doppelganger retcon when we already got the backstory earlier in the season. Especially when the retcon is to service these lame ass travellers
It's not a retcon though? Even when Stelena were having dreams like this earlier in the season, they were directly implanted by Qetsiyah, a witch from the same origins as the Travelers. Qetsiyah talked about having seen doppelgangers fall in love repeatedly, but that doesn't mean it had to be a natural state- it is consistent with Markos' explanation of the spell he did. And Silas, the villain at the time, said that he liked to imagine the universe trying to replicate his love for Amara (and Katherine also endorsed it in hopes it meant Stefan was destined for her), so not exactly reliable sources. Finally, this is pretty clearly in the same vein as the S1 reveal Katherine wasn't in the tomb, or the S2 reveal about the Sun and Moon Curse, or the S3 sireline reveal, or the S4 "there's only one cure" reveal- it's a piece of mythology introduced earlier on in the season that affects characters' understanding of something they've just been introduced to (Stefan being a Silas doppelganger) only to later be upended by realizations about the real origins of the thing. You don't have to like it, but the entire season has been leading to the Travelers arc and the soulmate stuff of Stelena was just another part of that "lame ass" setup.
@@SLift-mn8hiTechnically, expanding upon allure with new information is considered a retcon in some scenarios, as it retroactively expands the contuinity. But like you said, his expansion doesn't break continuity just expand it without creating contradictions.
@SLift-mn8hi everything about the doppelganger lore in s5 including Silas and Amara absolutely is a retcon, for more reasons that one. For one, Qetsiyah is a traveler. She’s been on the other side for 2000 years obsessed with Silas & Amara and doppelgängers. Yet, when she returns it’s like she has no clue about the spell that is drawing the doppelgängers together. She said it’s the “universe”, and suggests that the universe created the doppelgängers as versions of Silas & Amara that could die, but the doppelgängers meeting and falling in love is somehow just fate. There are only 2 explanations for this: either Qetsiyah just decided to keep the traveler spell to herself for no reason at all, or somehow, after 2000 years of obsession, Qetsiyah had no idea that her own people cast the spell to draw the doppelgängers to each other. Then you have the flaw with the spell in itself. Despite the travelers casting a spell 1000 years before Katherine’s birth, somehow the only doppelgängers they manage to draw together are Katherine & Stefan and Elena & Stefan. There are fan theories which suggest Tatia’s first husband and Katherine’s baby daddy were doppelgängers, but it’s never once even slightly hinted by the characters in the show who would know what those 2 men looked like. So in 1500 years of the spell, the Travelers only managed to draw 1.5 pairs of doppelgängers to each other? Finally it doesn’t explain Stefan and Elena’s first meeting (nor does it explain Katherine & Stefan’s which is why they retconned it in s5 along with all the other doppelgängerlore), because if Stefan had never met Katherine, Stefan & Elena wouldn’t have even crossed paths for longer than the time it took him to save her life. Or was Elena’s parents dying Traveler interference too? This is not even counting the fact that somehow Silas & Amara’s doppelgängers came to be despite them never reproducing yet the doppelgängers can only exist if the dippelgangers continue to reproduce since they all share a bloodline. By definition it f the word everything we learn about the doppelgängers in s5 is a retcon. Retcons don’t always have to be bad, this one is.
@hali_55 Well actually the show's Laura established that it doesn't have to be direct descendant to produce a doppelganger. Just someone of the same bloodline. Also, It's later been revealed that Silas is the one that knew the spell to undo the other side, and gave it to The Travelers. Because, as the show describes him, he's a walking encyclopedia of magic. And well yes, he contacts you into doing a lot of things for him by manipulating her, he likely gotten all the knowledge out of her that same way too. Also , convoluted as it may be, the show did give a reason for what Travelers took so long. Other witches were at actively sabotaging their efforts, plus a traveler has kept them from gathering together for places for too long. Add that to the stretching out of the traveler diaspora, even if the spells would draw the doppelgang is together, there's no guarantee That Travelers would actively find them, let alone have time to enact their plans. Especially since the show makes it explicitly clear that the witches we're actively impeding them. Like how they couldn't find Tom until the witch that was cloaking him was killed. There are other similar explanations for the other things you mentioned. So yes, the entire travel storyline is a retcon, but it doesn't break continuity. It's just a series of never-ending contrivances. That being said, The possibility that Steph and Elena only loved each other because of a spell commit that never sit well with me, even though I never liked them together. It's just as unnecessarily forced as a sirebond drama. Especially since the show runners, later confirmed, that yes, they were in fact in love on their own.
Bryce was thinking of when Elijah started suffocating inside the Salvatore House after the brothers signed it over to Elena and she took the silver stake out of him at the end of the same episode. But yeah, if Markos wanted to trap Damon, using his own magic would be a whole lot better, since signing a deed would just force Damon to run away. Also, there are more Travelers than the ones who burned themselves in that parking lot to overwhelm Bonnie. They're a fairly large group (like, not thousands, but more than a dozen, certainly). They just have waves of attack, and as annoying and overwhelming as they seemed in scenes where a bunch of them were working with Wes or taking doppelganger blood, they could have packed even more people in there but didn't need to- as we saw with Mia, or ancient pre-Travelers Qetsiyah and Silas, they do have stronger hitters, and Markos is one of them (which was why it was worth it to them to sacrifice several to bring him back).
“The universe doesn't control anything. It’s not real.” I love the way Elena comforts Damon when she keeps on having the visions. She still loves Damon and the dreams will never change her feelings about him.
I have no idea why Jeremy, Matt, and Tyler thought they could take out the travelers by themselves. They should have informed the rest of the group instead of that dumb plan. 💀
Damon was being realistic in saying that they could never carry on being just friends and ignore the strong and intense feelings they have for each other. And , as much as I love Elena, it was rather naive of her to suggest this. And I don’t really blame Damon for wanting to step away from such a scenario. For too long , he has been there for her, even when she constantly broke his heart and hurt him. And no, Bryce, he is not being pouty or immature. He is in genuine pain and genuinely sick of all the Stef visions and dreams and universe crap that he’s been bombarded with this whole season, not to mention having to endure Enzo commenting nonstop all the time. And again , Bryce , if their relationship were purely physical and nothing else , Elena last episode and Damon this episode, would not have pressed pause , and taken a mature step back for better clarity and a reassessment of their relationship.
No Bryce , they are not showing us what Stelena would have been like, if Damon hadnt come between them. They are telling you, Damon or no Damon , Stelena would never have been for the long run. Elena was a human. He was a vampire. He could never be human. So where is the question of a perfect , gloriously happy human life, complete with kids as in those visions.? What they are showing you, very pointedly, through these visions, is that Stefan-Elena were always doomed to have only a short shelf-life. And that the fairy tale depiction of a picture perfect, family as seen in the visions , was nothing but an impossible reality. "That life was a fantasy. A Stefan-Elena happy ending was a fantasy. Just like the visions themselves .
I forgot how much I hated season 5 till now It was all over the place The break ups were annoying. The villains weren’t compelling. The characters made some dumb choices but that’s like always so I didn’t expect much Season 6 saved it for me I guess cause I completely forgot about season 5
I never really hated season 5 but rewatching it for the 20th time it’s definitely trash lowkey. The lazy writing with Damon’s non existent development, Katherine just being a waste of space, just basically the whole second half of this season
This why at times I didn't like Damon. He acts like a pity boy when he has a break up with her. I mean when Stefan broke up with her and she picked Damon he told him I am not not happy for you. He acts mature in ways Damon doesn't.
Y’all are right. It does look like the same thing that happened to Katherine, happened to Vicki. I wonder where they both went then. Because why were them 2 specifically chosen? I know Katherine is awful with no redeeming qualities as a person morally. But Vicki … other than trying to kill Elena & hitting her own brother with a wrench in a selfish way to come back & also using Jeremy by playing with his heart in season 1 while being with Tyler, she isn’t on the same league as being as awful as Katherine, if they went where y’all thought she went in the episode Katherine gets taken. If y’all are correct, not saying y’all are tho, because no spoilers. But if that it is in fact true, why wouldn’t Kol also be taken then? He’s probably just as bad if not worse than Vicki with all the people he’s likely killed & all the people he was willing to kill because of his fear of Silas. He even tried to stake Rebehka (his own sister) which is equal if not worse than what Vicki did with Matt & the wrench just to stay alive, exactly as he did. Plus there’s Silas over there & others. Why wouldn’t they also be taken? That’s something I never understood.
I’ll say it.. I kinda love Matt. He’s unbearable sometimes but overhated He’s just trying to live his life in a world dictated by the supernatural. The first person he thought off when he died was his sister who he lost and then he lost her again
Genuinely, Matt's visit to the Other Side was one of the things I've most been looking forward to in the back half of this season, ever since I remembered it during his visit earlier this season. His scenes with Vicki in this one really are fantastic, and even Kol, too. Poor Matty Blue.
This episode was just a way for Julie to ruin Stelena's initial relationship and basically saying to the whole fandom "that's it, you have to ship Delena, now, they are real" well no, I don't. This season is stupid on so many levels, it's not even fun like in season 4 where I could laugh at it, season 5 is just not it. Please get to season 6.
I only watched season 1,2,3 and 6 on my own (I watched the first 3 and then watched 6 because of a certain someone) I’m so glad I skipped season 5 because what is this? It’s so much worse than the rest lol
I was a big Stelena fan back in the day but rewatching this has made me realize that Damon and Elena are perfect for each other. They’re both insufferable characters. No one else should have to deal with them. Elena doesn’t deserve Stefan.
Stefan and Elena finally agreeing to be friends is my favorite part of this episode. It was a really nice moment and I really like them as friends. With this endless Delena drama they could've easily dragged out the love triangle even more but instead they fully put it to rest with this scene. While Delena might have lost my entusiasm from this point in the show, I was never into Stelena as a couple simply because I think Stefan is far more interesting in the company of almost any other character (Caroline, Rebekah and Katherine to name a few) so I wouldn't want him and Elena to date whether she was dating Damon or not.
I dont understand why people think it’s okay to post stuff like this. Zuff is an important part of the channel and if you don’t want to deal with him then no one is forcing you to keep watching the channel. People need to remember that if they don’t have anything nice to say then they shouldn’t say anything at all
Finally!! The End Of Stelena..sorry but these two were dullll, so glad that chapter is closed.. this episode was kinda cruel to Stelena fans..they baited them look how it COULD be, BUT it’s NOT REAL..
Dull? Just because it’s not toxic and one person does not act like a baby it’s dull? :D I don’t mean to attack you personally but Delena is not perfect also.
@ I know Delena is not Perfect, but they also don’t claim to be..there’s no couple in this show that’s not toxic, and not one person in this show that hasn’t acted like a child at one time..but of course them titles are given to Damon and Elena..Stefan and Elena’s relationship was also very toxic,it started with a lie,a guy who had been stalking her for months..they were a fake couple,at least Damon and Elena are Real, with All there Imperfections…
@ Elena got together with Damon because he was always inserting himself between her and Stefan. Like she said “Damon got under my skin” and I don’t think she would ever looked at him if he hadn’t tried so hard.. And I think they are mainly about attraction. But that’s just my opinion.
@ I don’t deny that…I never really like playing the If game but let’s ponder this then, what if Damon had not erased Elena’s memory of meeting him first?,what if Damon was inserting himself between Stefan and Elena to keep Elena safe from the Ripper? That only Damon knew about his brother..Attraction is a big part of a relationship, but I also see Understanding,Forgiveness,Compassion, and Trust in Delena..All the things that go into an honest good relationship..thats my opinion..
Yeah and it’s funny bc Paul Wesley and Nina Dobrev have better off screen chemistry then on screen and I’m glad they are still good besties! Even when seeing recent interviews with the two.

22:32 it was Elijah lol, i’ll answer for Rob 🫶🏽 the dagger was pulled out of him after Elena signed the will and he started gasping for air, and like Bryce said, “tweaking”. Hope this helps c: love the channel and i love y’all c:
The writing this season is so lazy smh
30:28 Damon in his own way is saying they need a break. He can’t to be around her rn be cause it’s too difficult for him. They need some time apart before they can be together again.
It is understandable that Damon doesn’t wanna be friends with the girl he’s in love with. He had to say that to her so that way he can have some space and heal. It’s too painful for him right now.
Is it? It was the opposite in earlier seasons when she didn’t want him to love her but he kept pushing to be friends & in a relationship too even though she didn’t want that.
@@packedentertainment2866 not at all the same. elena wasn't madly in love with damon. and she DID want to be friends with him.
Stelena will forever be iconic 🌚
🥱
He'd rather get revenge on Elena by killing Jeremy than let her be happy.
@@frikadell Oh definitely. What is left of Elena's friends/family would be dead.
@@SubKween Well people can have their opinion… Not need to be rude about it :D
16:59- 17:09 I’m crying 😭😭😭
I physically can not with zuff
I really wish klaus and enzo met 😂😂
Yes. But I feel like Klaus maybe would’ve killed him because of how sassy Enzo can be sometimes which probably wouldn’t go well with Klaus because he’s also sassy & immature when people go against him or question him. But yeah, it would’ve been interesting had it happened
I'd actually love an Enzo and Marcel introduction.
(I'm also now curious about a Kol & Oscar scene- iykyk)
I love Kol
15:30 😂😂
And Zach is right Elena shouldn't be with one of the Salvatores.
I forgot how much I hated season 5 till now
It was all over the place
The break ups were annoying. The villains weren’t compelling. The characters made some dumb choices but that’s like always so I didn’t expect much
Season 6 saved it for me I guess cause I completely forgot about season 5
I never really hated season 5 but rewatching it for the 20th time it’s definitely trash lowkey. The lazy writing with Damon’s non existent development, Katherine just being a waste of space, just basically the whole second half of this season
thought it was just me lol. this season is so forgettable, s6 >>
This why at times I didn't like Damon. He acts like a pity boy when he has a break up with her. I mean when Stefan broke up with her and she picked Damon he told him I am not not happy for you. He acts mature in ways Damon doesn't.
If only this is how it actually went. Damon is awful for Elena & always has been
Y’all are right.
Kol wasn't swept away when Vicki was because he wasn't out in the open to be swept up during that onslaught. It's a matter of luck and warning.
zuff when elena is friendly with stefan 😡🫨😬😟😰
zuff when jeremy blatantly cheated on bonnie 🫣🤭🤗🤫 28:34
literally ☠️
I’ll say it.. I kinda love Matt. He’s unbearable sometimes but overhated
He’s just trying to live his life in a world dictated by the supernatural.
To this day I still don't get why Damon and Elena are together
Guys you have to react to one tree hill, drawson creek and the oc pleasee 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
And Selena's movie?
Hello!
I only watched season 1,2,3 and 6 on my own (I watched the first 3 and then watched 6 because of a certain someone) I’m so glad I skipped season 5 because what is this? It’s so much worse than the rest lol
Yeah this is where the season starts to go downhill
I was a big Stelena fan back in the day but rewatching this has made me realize that Damon and Elena are perfect for each other. They’re both insufferable characters. No one else should have to deal with them. Elena doesn’t deserve Stefan.
Stefan and Elena finally agreeing to be friends is my favorite part of this episode. It was a really nice moment and I really like them as friends. With this endless Delena drama they could've easily dragged out the love triangle even more but instead they fully put it to rest with this scene. While Delena might have lost my entusiasm from this point in the show, I was never into Stelena as a couple simply because I think Stefan is far more interesting in the company of almost any other character (Caroline, Rebekah and Katherine to name a few) so I wouldn't want him and Elena to date whether she was dating Damon or not.
you’ve just got to get through the end of this season and the writing gets better I promise
literally me begging them to just hold on for season 6 aka one of the best seasons
But then in season 7 it gets so bad again… :D
I always keep this to myself but my god is Zuff insufferable, like stfu already for once
I feel that way about Rob and Bryce…hummmm I wonder why?
@@DellaMcgee-mc4rfbecause they call out damon and hold him accountable, wbk
I dont understand why people think it’s okay to post stuff like this. Zuff is an important part of the channel and if you don’t want to deal with him then no one is forcing you to keep watching the channel. People need to remember that if they don’t have anything nice to say then they shouldn’t say anything at all
@ I Agree
@ she’s not obligated to like him lol, and that’s okay. she could’ve been nicer but it’s not that deep
Damon is the Best thing for Elena..
