What a gem of a channel, and finally someone who absolutely breaks down, in depth, the hilariousness and stupidity of book Cersei. The show really ruined almost all the Lannisters (even Kevan) despite them having the best actors in the entire thing. Such a shame. Imagine watching Lena Headey going batshit after Tywin's death... Tommen being aged up didn't help, because it took all the agency and demise of the Crown in Season 5 away from Cersei and almost solely on Tommen's shoulders.
One of scenes from the show - from season 4, arguably the last good season - that I hated was her final conversation with Tywin, where she stood up to him and told him she wasn't going to marry Loras, and that she'd tell everyone the truth about her, Jaime, and her kids. The show frames this as this girlboss cunning power move by her, but I immediately cringed. 1. Book Cersei would *never* talk to Tywin like that. That woman wanted his approval more than anything in the world. 2. Telling the truth would objectively hurt her, her brother, and her children worse than it could ever hurt Tywin. It would turn the entirety of the Seven Kingdoms, especially the noble houses they relied upon, against the crown, and it would mean the certain deaths of herself, her brother, and the children she alleged to care about more than anything in the world. It's a threat so spiteful and stupid that even book Cersei would be like, girl what the hell were you thinking???
i think the show writers saw Ned the “Honourable and Honest” getting Barbie-head-popped at the end of the first book as a signal that honesty and honour were objectively bad or naive, as opposed to the systems/players of the Game being corrupt and toxic and eventually leading to the destruction of everything around them even if they seemingly win early on. so anyone not in possession of those traits are actually super smarties who are master manipulators, which is cool and sexy and makes for enticing television.
My favorite moment is when she butts in on Tommens lessons with Loras. The whole vibe is dead as she shows. 😂 she just slaughtered the vibe and threw it in a ditch
Theres a scene where cersei remembers going down to the dungeons of casterly rock and sticks her hand into the lion cage but the lion just licks her hand Oh how things could have been diffrent
OMG, Cersei has the funniest POVs, you'll never know that watching the show though. Being in her head is so much fun, GRRM is a genius for giving us Cersei as the Kingslanding POV character, she's definitely my favorite female POV character and her presence alone elevates AFFC from a good book to an excellent one, being bad and stupid has never been this fun.
My favorite part of Cerseis's governance is everyone away from Kings Landing being baffled by her decisions. Littlefinger put it best when he said "Cersei stumbles from one idiocy to the next, helped along by her council of the deaf, the dim, and the blind. I always anticipated that she would beggar the realm and destroy herself, but I never expected she would do it quite so fast."
And she really, REALLY doesn't like other women, especially if they happen to surpass her physical ability (Brienne), mentally (Olenna) or in beauty (Sansa and Maergary). Actually that is an understatement: she uses so foul language about other women(among other things she thinks that Septas are in need of a "good raping"), that Pearl Davis and Andrew Tate would think she needs to take it down a notch or two. And her "relationship" with Jaime is far more twisted. Jaime indeed is in love with Cersei, but the feeling is certainly not mutual, with Cersei believing that Jaime isn't really a person of his own, but rather perfected male half of hers and only when they're "together" they're truly a one whole person.
cersei does love jaime. she constantly ruminates on him and their relationship in affc, he is the only person that can satisfy her sexually, she is only willing to have his children. jaime doesn’t love cersei as her own person either. he literally says he thought she was the maiden when she was actually the stranger, he has no more understanding of her than you seem to have. when jaime learns cersei hasn’t been faithful to him, he calls her a whore and dreams about brutalising her. y’all try so hard to act like the toxicity in their relationship was just her fault. it wasn’t. it was most certainly mutual. not to mention george rr martin himself said that jaime is the only person cersei has ever loved other than her children.
@@evermoredanyyou're doing a lot of projecting. Cercei only loves Jaime because he reminds her of herself. It's also clear in the books that Jaime thinks of their situation in a very naive way whereas cercei is much more manipulative and cold. It takes a lot for Jaime to wake up and see the truth and when he does he is rightfully upset. Muttering curses to yourself after realizing the love of your life is sleeping with half the castle whenever you go out of town is not being toxic.
@@pyramidion5911 cersei still loves jaime after he supposedly doesn’t “remind her of herself”. he’s constantly on her mind throughout affc and sex is completely unsatisfying for her with anyone else other than him. even if she tells herself she no longer loves him, it’s evidently not the case. jaime doesn’t just “mutter curses to himself”. he calls her a whore and dreams about brutalising her. also cersei had a reason for sleeping with the kettleblacks, even though she didn’t want to, but jaime doesn’t understand this because of his own male privilege and misogyny. their toxicity isn’t just cersei’s fault. jaime has been shown to be incredibly possessive over her, and he often ignores when she doesn’t want to have sex.
One of my favorite moments is when Cersei is told the Ironborn are raiding in the Reach, she assumes that it's an elaborate ploy by Stannis to get them to leave Dragonstone. Also, her small council meeting in Cersei IV is just hilarious.
Love this videos, Cersei is so much fun to read in the books, her chapters in Festim are probably my favorites! Is always gold, she is so crazy, is hilarious. You forgot one of my favorite moments, when she punished the washerwoman that “shrink” her clothes, she is so delulu in all that part, totally sure that the clothes are small and never that she is bigger, is so funny! Well not for her victims, who had to pay for the clothes, poor women! Oh, and you forgot to talk about the third most important character trait, with paranoia and pride, her cruelty. She is cruel, not just ruthless. She killed a girl when she was 10, and she physically tortured baby Tyrion, not regret in any of those. She is the kind of person who would burn the whole world if she is going down, that’s why I truly believe that in the books she will burn KL with the wildfire, probably way before Daenerys even comes to Westeros. She will burn KL in battle against fAegon, he is way closer and has the Golden Company, who will too in the books probably die immediately, but most from wildfire instead of dragon fire, lol!!
It means "younger/little sibling", it's gender netural. Also I don't think it's either of *her* brothers. The prophecy says "the valonqar" not "*your* valonqar". But Cersei is way too self involved to realize that
so we’re actually not certain whether it’s gender neutral or not. that’s a common fandom assumption based on maester aemon’s speech about the prince who was promised prophecy but we don’t have confirmation that the entire language is gender neutral or simply the word for “dragon.” the only in text material we have on the subject is the septa saying it means “little brother” specifically. then again there’s always the possibility of confirmation in either direction later on
In the books, Cersi is also the one that made sure that trial by combat wouldn't be an option any longer. And my book theory is that Jamie is the valonqar. Cersei is quick to think Tyrion, forgetting that Jamie is also her little brother because she was born first. Because if we think about it, at the end of Dance, Jamie wasn't riding back to help save Cersei, he was riding off with Brienne without questioning why she wanted him to come with her.
Valanquar is a Valyrian word that isnt gendered at all, it means younger sibling. Also, the prophecy is THE valanquar, not specifically hers, so it could really be anyone lol.
@@Rhaenarys we don’t know if the all valyrian is gender neutral, that’s just an assumption we make based on aemon speaking about the word for dragon and/or prince. while it’s definitely a possibility, as of now, our only in-text evidence says it means little brother specifically. tho to your point, i agree that cersei’s ego blinds her to the fact that it could be any younger brother not necessarily hers.
One more thing about this, the whole valanquar prophecy was spoken when the questions asked were about her future marriage...and children. Thats it. So because of that, there really wasnt a reason to assume it was either brother, really. Instead, this points to 2 other options. 1st is Stannis. 1st question was about who she would marry, which was Robert, the king. He had 2 younger brothers, Renly is dead, Stannis is technically still alive, and very much wanting Shireen crowned if he died. So...hes a possibility. The OTHER idea i have is well, actually many, but...the second question asked about kids, where she got details about her future kids deaths, and then...her own. Robert got around, had a LOT of bastards, and despite Joffereys efforts to kill them all off in KL, couldnt exactly get them all across the seven kingdoms. Even though bastards, they ARE the 3s siblings, and some are still pretty young, possibly younger than Tommen. I think these are both plausible options.
@rhanialam lol I just finished my thesis on who I think it is. There actually is confirmation from Martin himself that the word valanquar is gender neutral.
Good video. As for which brother is responsible for her death, the books hadn't gotten that far. Tyrion didn't cause it directly, but he was involved with Dany bringing her dragons to King's Landing, and he trusted Dany almost up to the end. Jaime was with Cersei, and they died together. It might be argued that Jaime was never able to stand up to Cersei except when he went to Winterfell and had a relationship with Brienne who he abandoned to return to his sister. In a way, Cersei was the death of Jaime or at least the man he would have been if he'd stayed away from her. Anyway, maybe if Jaime had been able to control Cersei, things would have turned out differently, and she would not have died. Except I think Dany and the people of King's Landing who hated Cersei would have killed her.
Show plot was stupid. Book tyrion is on revenge path and he is gonna use dany for his revenge against Lannisters (destroying dany's image in process is not what he would be worry of much..and when things go out of his control...he might try to despose her off...who knows....as I think he is one of the villains and dany will be used for her powers by many people and get betrayed) . Jaime might really kill cercei in books. He already hates her in the books.

Cersei’s chapters were my favorite. She was chaotic af and just nuts 😂😂😂😂. And the constant thinking of how smart she is. She made the book great.
My all time favorite A Feast for Crows synopsis: “Bad news? Everyone’s dead. Good news? Cersei’s batsh*t and Tyrion’s in the walls. Have fun 😁”
