It took me 30 years to find this song. Parts of the song (without words) were in my head since hearing it on the radio as a teenager in 1990. Who knows how many hours I spent scouring the internet trying to figure out the name/band to no avail. In 2020 I saw a random clip from a podcast that was playing a song in the background. I recognized the voice after 3 decades. It only took a minute after that and I found my unicorn. Listening to it for the first time in 30 years took me right back to where I was in 1990 when I first heard this song.
I could have helped expedite the process for you! Glad you found this great song again, Cheers!
Pour one out for the 2 or 3 songs I'm looking for the same way now
Shazam it next time! Just kidding. (Seriously !) but that’s awesome! Music can take us back to certain moments in time, the ultimate time traveler.
Your not alone.
This took me on a trip dude. Thanks for your story
An artist who never got the recognition he deserved.
Numerous talented canadian artists never got the recognition they deserved
When it comes to music, movies, video games, the 80s is the GOAT.
Only one video game. Vice city. 80s was a weird transiton from the 70s to 90s.
Never the GOAT. A cerain few, like Gowan should be im the Hall of Fame.
This song should have been wayyyy bigger then it was. What an 80s banger.
Does this ever get old? No.
We had such a plethora of gorgeously talented bands and musicians in the 80's in Canada. People did not know what they were missing.
Lauren Johnston I know exactly what you mean 😊
@@perryharper3085 (this, as I'm watching Saga Hurry Don't be late). Still so good.
Lauren Johnston exactly and the music from back in the day was something that I’ll never forget and I hope you think that same thing 😊
Lauren Johnston so true and I’m happy that I was a teenager growing up in the 80s 😊
I wish I was born in the 80's... But I can completely agree with that statement!

Ladies and gentlemen....may I present the most 80's, 80's music video on the planet. Nothing beats a guy dancing around some gorgeous scenery in a velveteen ruffled shirt with a killer mullet. Once you've watched this, you've watched the whole 80's.
Quite a cinematic feat for a Canadian act in those days. No CGI and on location. Great video
That and that sweet ass owl...

This made my evening…what a video…..what a song lol…..thank you 80 s pinnacle
I bought this cassette when it first came out in the 1980s. I'm still amazed that Gowan didn't catch on internationally. He has an incredible voice and talent. Not to mention a good dose of charisma and you can see in his videos a true love of performing.
He never sold his soul.
Gowan means owl in several of the Celtic languages, hence the image in this video clip.
Man...i was cracking jokes all over the comments about that owl...
Cool!
This song is so gorgeous that it makes me momentarily forget about his mullet. :D

Few months ago taking my 5 yrs old son to his swimming class on a Saturday morning and this song was playing thru speakers in the centre. I was like what an amazing song but I couldn't find this song on RUclips searched hours on end but I could not remember the lyrics. I was going insane. I kept humming the tune the chorus meanwhile my wife thought I went mad. Finally, this morning I woke up and said moonlight that's it !! and here we are. Add this song to my ultimate 80's playlist. I am so relieved. Didn't know the artist was Canadian.
I'd never heard this until yesterday but now I can't stop playing it! Great song! :)
This song is absolute fire. Heard it in the car with my mom the other day. Been listening to it ever since.
Really love this song, listening from kentucky 2022. enjoy

This song NEVER gets old. Haven't heard it in a long time, listening on St. Patrick's Day 2021, from Ontario Canada.

One of the most underrated songs and videos of the 80s. Teotihuacan is very special to my heart; and made sure that I watched this video 2 and half years ago, immediately after visiting there. One of the most magical places I have ever visited. Hail Spearthrower Owl and Quetzalcoatl!

This video, song the way it's mixed, the musicians, Lawrence and Jon; it just keeps getting better and better everytime I watch and listen to it. Nothing wrong with going back in time when it's like this.
Who is still listening in 2020? This song is timeless.
2021 and still listening! I'm sad I had no idea this hidden gem existed! Of COURSE it's Jon Anderson of Yes singing. A perfect match for Gowan's voice.
Gowan has also had members of Peter Gabriel's backing band and Alex Lifeson of Rush play on his albums. I suppose it only makes sense he would squeeze a Yes guy in there too. ;)
Good to hear Jon Anderson on the backing vocals. His voice is always a nice surprise when it pops up on other people's recordings.
Aztec pyramids, Jon Anderson of "Yes" doing backing vocals AND acting as an Aztec shaman, and Gowan in a ruffled shirt and mullet - what is there not to love?

Gowan's mullet was magnificent
I've had my share of long hair and mullets, probably last in my 20s, but at 56, and with the whole Covid thing, still having great and dark hair, I've decided I'm only getting younger, been growing out the back for a year now to where I have finally have a mullet ( I can put it under a hat for work ) and I'm going to keep it going. Will it get back to Lawrence's and my length back in the day? Probably not. ;-) Wife hates it, but I could care less what she thinks. I'm a rock star! ;-)
First heard this song staying up late playing Pokemon Soulsilver, was around 2010 and I had the radio on
So proud that all the locations for this video are from my home country, Mexico. Jon Anderson (from YES) has always been a fan of Mexican mythology and spirituality.
It's beautiful.
makes you wonder if JA had anything to do with the filming location or theme of the video. So happy he did backing vox on this track - it really takes it to another level of awesome
What Is the mythology in this video, like what's with the pyramids and the white face paint?
@@BS-hq6iz Jon Anderson of Yes, is in replica Mayan Priest wear, giving tribute to the Colossus that the Mayan's were in their day, and their Total belief in the Moon and Sun Gods. A homage of sorts to them.

The origin of my love for prog-rock can be traced down to this beautiful song. First heard when I was thirteen years old, bought the Great Dirty World cassette, really enjoyed all of it... But the vocal background by Jon Anderson on this song was my favourite part, and I had no idea who was Jon Anderson at that time... Then one or two years later the ABWH album came out, "I know that voice!!!" Bought the cassette, and that was certainly the most significant musical discovery in my life. Soon after, I found out that Anderson (and Bruford, Wakeman and Howe) were formerly in this old band called Yes... "Hmm, I wonder what Yes sounds like..." Got my hands on the first Yes album I could find. It was Close to the Edge. Need I say more? Today, I am venturing in this fringe sub-genre of prog -rock called Zeuhl, I first heard the band called Magma some ten years ago, and that was the second most significant musical discovery in my life. But it take years and years of Prog training to be able to properly enjoy the music of Magma. Between Yes and Magma, I listened to a lot of (dare I say) mainstream prog and classic prog...
Grew up without MTV so never knew this was a male lead singer until I saw this video. Never too old to learn something new!
I just recently heard it in Wolfcop and thought it was a female voice too. Now that I know it's a male voice it kinda reminds me of Russell Hitchcock from Air Supply.
I love this song and the angelic vocals of Jon Anderson make it perfect!

Whoever plotted out the video did a great job. Not only is the site glorious - Teotihuacan near Mexico City but much of the video shows and has Gowan moving around on the massive Pyramid of the Moon at that site. Absolutely perfect for a video for a song called Moonlight Desires!
The owl too.

This song is very very powerful, I was an addict for many years and can relate to this song a lot. 🖤
The level of hidden meaning and depth in this song goes beyond anything I could have imagined. When I was away in a long-term residential addiction treatment program in 2010, the chorus of this song was stuck in my head for several months. I didn't know anything about the song, other than I had heard the melody somewhere, but couldn't recall exactly where, who sang it, what genre it was, or what the lyrics were if it had any.
For 1,000s of hours in my head, there was something about this I couldn't resist, the song triggered VERY strange and powerful emotions I could not logically account for. Recently I've caught a glimpse into the dimension of my inner reality, there are reasons I can't yet fully explain but am starting to understand why this resonates with me on deep emotional level. I have a personal connection to this song, and many others, but this is one of the strongest. Meaning within meaning, a hidden context, a secret way of communicating. I know it's my subjective interpretation but it amazes me nonetheless. Especially the site where this video was filmed.
The song is magical!
Wishing you another Fantastic Birthday! And thank you for all the music, with and without owls.
Just a beautiful spirit to this song. Gowan, all day, an incredible look at those "Moonlight Desires", that all men have, for women they champion. Beautifully stated, in a way of purity, and beauty. Magical.
