    So Taldain got me thinking about sand and sand got me thinking about ants. A bunch of autonomous creatures working together for the betterment of The Hive. The one is many and the many are one.
    Also, a great way to cut the Taldain system off from world hoppers would be to stick the perpendicularity in the heart of a star!

    I think Ben has a good point about how overwriting a being's will isn't very in line with the idea of Autonomy, but from another perspective incorporating multiple beings into a greater whole could be seen as increasing that whole's autonomy. I'm not sure if I'm expressing this well but I can see it in my head.

    I loved the White Sand audio drama. Also: I think Autonomy prefers magic systems with a heavy theme of symbiosis. If you think of strengthening through overmastery from a biology point it makes total sense: after a near death experience the symbiotic lichen will overcompensate by overpopulating a bit, and the observed diminishing returns is explained by there being a cap to how much lichen an individual can support, which would differ based on small individual differences between people.

    I havn't read white sand but i'm going to try something. they mention why would autonomy invest a star, but think about it. the other shards invested some planets and they got linked to the planet so they connot leave. if aotonomy invests a star, the star is irradiating investiture, affecting several planets at once, giving her more freedom of movement. what do you guys think?

    It's 3 A.M. and suddenly something from this video that I saw months ago pops into my head.
    If Autonomy co-ops or takes over existing beings to make avatars, isn't that similar, yet opposite, to the process of the Unmade? Odium remakes things into beings to control in the image he wants, while Autonomy remakes beings into facets of themself to delegate power using themselves.
    And Autonomy also isn't philosophically against the actions of Odium, as they are both independent beings that wish for sole control.

    So, about TLR traveling to all 10 dominances, what about his safehouses? I think they were spread out through all af the final empire.
    Also, You all missed the possibility of stating that Grace became an avatar of Ian.

    White sand is different for most people I've never done a graphic novel, the world sounds sweet, but it's just a weird medium for me. The graphic audio version sounds like it would come across weird, but idk I've never listened to them.

    I think like Ruin and Preservation have rules. Autonomy has rules about avatars being unique and not influenced by the whole. Perhaps the different avatars personalities allow it to circumvent it's own rules or counter certain shards. Leras had to give up Preservation to someone who was the right personality thay could get away with killing Ati having only just taken up the shard.

    My question is: if really Autonomy invested a star, how does this star appear in the cognitive realm? We saw only one tiny sun there: is that Autonomy? Does the invested star take another form in Shadesmar?
    Is something is invested, it must be visible in the Cognitive Realm.

    If Sazed were to take up a third shard, would it increase his ability to act, or make him more conflicted?

    • @Gilphon
      @Gilphon 5 лет назад +5

      Depends which Shard it was, I think. If it was something that strongly opposed both Ruin and Perservation, it would make things worse, but something that works well with one or both halves would improve things for him. I bet picking up Cultivation would make it a lot easier for him to act, for example.

    • @jennywilliams1455

      @@Gilphon If he took up Odium he would definitely make the full swing into Discord.

    • @Haxerous
      @Haxerous 5 лет назад +2

      @@Gilphon cultivation is probably the best contender, but it could so happen that cultivation negates ruin completely and preservation could never the strongest intent and mess him up even more depending on how he interprets the intent. I think Devotion and Dominion could also flip him to either side strongly enough but also I'm a more interesting manner. Imagine Dominion with Ruin. GG everyone would be screwed. Or Preservation + Devotion against Ruin would be interesting too.

  • @Haxerous

    I think the random craftsman is named Trell mostly to show the origin of the name, as in the name comes from Taldain and is culturally linked to that population and hence foreign to Scadrial.
    Btw i don't think avatar is a wrong word to use as you make it to be. If you go to the word root Avatara in sanskrit and look for example at Vishnu the Dashavatara, it fits almost perfectly with what autonomy and what it seems capable of doing. An avatar is not necessarily a mere representation or a and image or likeness of something or someone like it is commonly used in English media.

    I think it's pretty clear that the "entire pantheons that are actually just Autonomy" is the pantheon of islands on First of the Sun
    Also if the star is autonomy's body, then maybe she created the star from nothing after finding another natural star with the particulate ring. It would explain how this planet got into this particular situation, if one of the Stars was artificial

    What allows you to assume that so late in the Cosmere, space ships still have crews segregated by planet of origin? Or that no new worlds have been settled?

    In some of the letters it talks about the rules all the shards accepted which included not going to the same planet. It seams to me that those rules would be accepted so that no one intent can merge to for a shard stronger than the others. Meaning that Autonomy May well be sending one of her avatars, Trell, to kill harmony because it is two merged intents. Autonomy would want a power balance and to keep the rules like the letter states.

    The one thing we can all agree on with Taldain is that Darkside has a strong source of UV somewhere, and that a star in the system makes the most sense.
