I tested EV 30m and 50m vs. Yamaha Stagepas 1k MK II yesterday. Yamaha is very good at mids, better than both EV. EVs are excellent at high frequencies and a little bit in bass (EV50). I think Stagepas outperform EV 30. It do not outperform EV 50, bass has a little bit more punch and highs are really better on EV50. BUT difference is not very big. Highs I think are too much on EV 50, I had to use equalizer to cut it a bit. Stagepas performs almost like EV50, apart of high frequencies which are abit flat, but for price which is half of EV 50m, Yamaha is clear winner if I consider price. If I consider sound quality only I would go probably more for EV 50m. Anyway if I compare Stagepas with 30m, I would definitely go with Stagepas. With Yamaha I also like supplied bag (not present with EV) and knobs on mixer. Its also really handy to be able (for musician connected to Stagepas) to reach quickly knobs while with EV its not possibe. By switching compression/eq mode to CLUB on Yamaha, I actually achieved same punch as with EV 50m. Also highs can be adjusted by equalizer on Yamaha, but still, I would say, highs are about 15-20% better on EV 50m. Because I need it for live musician and DJ purpose and I dont like too sharp highs (cut it on EQ anyway) I will go with Stagepas. Mainly because for its price its real bargain which is nearly as good as EV50m for more than half of money and bag included.
Thanks, the vocals on the EV are fantastic. Had the Evolve 50, it was killer, but no effects and a little heavy for me. I think I'll pick up the 30. Good singing, btw.

to amplify a digital piano do you consider the yamaha as first choice for its better mid frequency ? or the Ev which in my opinion shows better treble and bass frequencies ? Thanks for your answer !

Yamaha sounds a bit flat which is good, its easier to tweak a flat frequncy rather than a boosted one sided sound.
