I remember them being the new "great thing" back in the early 80s. The album East Side story did it. They were actually pretty big back then, selling out Madison Square gardens more than once. But I think some of their best songs like "is that love" "woman's world" and "there at the top" got overlooked in the US. They had top 10 hits in the UK though.
As a guitarist tilbrook deserved far higher praises. Squeeze is fantastic.
